Do the owners just like books or is this an attempt at a Tracey Emin unmade bed art installation look with random books piled up instead.

Stunning house and amazing location. Not a fan of the decor, it seems to be a strange mix of different styles that don't quite gel. Easy to change though!

Ineedwinenow · 26/04/2024 10:34

Have I got this right, So for 22 million you get a patio, the bigger grassed area you see on the next photo is communal? Or have I got that wrong? For 22 million I would want to own land a similar size to the duchy not a patio 😆 obviously it’s Hampstead but I’d still want a big private garden for that price

I've just looked on Rightmove to see what you could buy in my area for that price. Nothing at all!! Unless you had an extra 13 million and then you could buy this whole estate.

They had me at 'Plant Room'

MidnightPatrol · 26/04/2024 10:37

I live in London so am used to the silly prices but… £22.5m? For what is just a nice family
home?

Insane. You could buy an as-nice house in an as-posh area for a quarter of that.

softslicedwhite · 26/04/2024 10:38

I think if you have an original Gilbert and George hanging in your parlour you're going to be the sort of person that stacks books for aesthetic reasons.

We have one - we call it the boiler cupboard...

pastypirate · 26/04/2024 10:39

Reminds me a lot of boy George house

commonground · 26/04/2024 10:40

Oof if only they'd put the books upright on the bookshelf, they probs would have been able to fit them all in.

Nice a/w though - I spy a lovely FOS sculpture, a G&G, and probs commissioned portraits of the kids by Julian Opie. Fancy!

Suspect if you can afford a 22m house you aren’t doing your own dusting,,,,😂

True dat

Ineedwinenow · 26/04/2024 10:45

The school girl portrait was sold for 37k in 2021 and I assume the boy portrait could have been in the same sale ShockLink to the sale

commonground · 26/04/2024 10:52

^ That is a similar Opie but not quite the same.
I feel like these are the kids of the house, maybe?

And is that an Anselm Kiefer in the reception room? Ooh, it's like playing Artle (that's the art version of Wordle if you haven't seen it. Is fun - but tricky!)

Savemykitchen · 26/04/2024 10:55

I get infuriated jealous watching TV programmes at millionaires house shopping. They'll dismiss a quarter of a billion house because the door handles are wrong. Surely they could just buy new ones 😂

😆 I’m as you can tell not artistic in any way shape and form, not sure if the style of his painting is what I’d have in my house or not 🫣 but definitely loving all posters who know far more than me pointing them all out, and apologies to the home owner, looks like the artist paints similar looking kids 😆 keep them coming 😍

It’s St John’s Wood, not Hampstead . St John’s Wood is Westminster.

Twiglets1 · 26/04/2024 11:00

It’s not Hampstead. Nice house though.

Are the neighbours worse in St John’s Wood than Hampstead? Grin to be fair if they would be playing loud music on a sunny day in that communal garden, I’d still want to bury them under that private patio no matter where the house is 😆

Theblackdogagain · 26/04/2024 11:05

So thank you for answering a question I didn't know I had. I love the pictures of the kids and I've learned the artist name who did them, and that he did the blur album case in the nineties. Now I just need to be able to afford one

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 26/04/2024 11:05

There would be so much of it that I would change that I don't think I could part with £22.5m for it.

It doesn't "flow". It's a hodgepodge of designs. It inflames my brain.

Also the Astroturf is crime against...pretty much everything.

This house is in Camden.

That would be my Hs dream house

Imgoingtobefree · 26/04/2024 11:12

Yes, I was wondering about the prisoner rattan chair.

I don't think it's astroturf - it's moss/lichen on the paving.

I spotted an exercise machine in the living room. Who has a house like that and sticks their exercise bike in the living room? Surely you have a separate gym?

I originally thought that it was an exercise machine but then decided that it was probably more Art That I Don't Understand.
