Do the owners just like books or is this an attempt at a Tracey Emin unmade bed art installation look with random books piled up instead.

Hold on....22 million and you have to share a garden?!

WittiestUsernameEver · 26/04/2024 11:23

Upon further inspection. I don't think anyone actually lives there... except perhaps on the second floor... Where maybe a housekeeper/ lodger does.

Seems so soulless and empty.

theDudesmummy · 26/04/2024 11:38

Looking at the map, it's definitely not Hampstead, St John's Wood is not even adjacent to Hampstead, Belize Park is in between. Nice road, though.

I used to live in that road - in a shared flat 15 years ago I hasten to add! Some confusion from PP's about the location. It's really Swiss Cottage but borders St John's Wood and Belsize Park. The borough will be Camden.

They have said "east side" of St John's Wood as it sounds more bouji than Swiss Cottage! Having said that the location is just wonderful - 2 mins walk and you're on Primrose Hill, Swiss Cottage farmers market close by and 20 minutes or so stroll up to Hampstead village. Very nice indeed!!

Never mind the books, the coffee table with all the nicknacks is giving me serious anxiety. What is something gets knocked over

Then your maid picks it up again!

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 26/04/2024 11:42

Am I the only one completely 😱at the price?

@£22 MILLION????

OrlandointheWilderness · 26/04/2024 11:47

Christ 22m!?!?
I'm a complete philistine. That house does nothing for me but makes me think how much nicer it would've been with a nice farmhouse kitchen and proper grass!!!
I can't talk about the books.

MILTOBE · 26/04/2024 11:50

They haven't got plastic grass, ffs!

I think that joint garden is nice - all the multimillionaires can meet each other there of a Sunday morning.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/04/2024 10:08

The books are probably an art installation. Has anyone else clocked the subject matter of the photo montage in photos 9 and 14?

More to the point, the security grilles across the windows-
Looks like the pics are of a woman (?) getting undressed in front of a man?

mindutopia · 26/04/2024 11:53

The interior is pretty fugly in parts...for £22m!

Echobelly · 26/04/2024 11:54

Lovely - the first house of that type I've seen with actual art in it

I do like to look up some 'expensive house porn' now and then and I am shocked how often 8-figure homes don't seem to contain any books and the only artwork they have is generic crap that seems like it's been bought by an interior designer as a job-lot, presumably as it has been. Like, these people must have multi-millions but as a fairly ordinary person I probably own artworks worth more than that in my 4-bed terrace.

It always seems to be bronze statues of ballerinas, generic landscapes, soppy Victorians; or black and white photo canvases of Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe; or for the people who asked the designer to be a bit edgy and whacky some Banksy-rips offs, diamante skulls and Andy-Warhol-style canvases of a pug or something.

But this house is evidently owned by someone who knows their art.

But not quite big enough for the helicopter to land, so sadly, it's a no from me...

TinkerTiger · 26/04/2024 12:01

The books are what got you? 😂

Beautiful house though, I'd buy it if I had the money. I actually like what they've done with the interiors, the art is luckily removable 😁

The only house near me with a comparable price tag is this and includes actual land!

www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/145954088

And I's still have a few mil left over to fill it with artwork.

Sure we can all do that, but St John’s Wood is one of the most exclusive and expensive locations in central London . Wiltshire it is not.to buy that amount of land in St John’s Wood would be billions.

Maybe, @Alfreddoeblin. The neon sign that says “Those who suffer love” in the video is a Tracey Emin 😂

Twiglets1 · 26/04/2024 12:18

In before someone says that in their village 22M would buy … the whole village!

Shan5474 · 26/04/2024 12:22

What is that thing with the orange chair in the middle? Looks like a lump of mouldy cheese to me 🙈

CactusMactus · 26/04/2024 12:26

I wonder who's selling... must be an artist or someone very creative.
Love it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/04/2024 12:34

It's absolutely beautiful, the location is stunning 💗

SplitFountainPen · 26/04/2024 12:38

It feels like a hoarders house but with ample space to spread the objects out

godmum56 · 26/04/2024 13:11

the art is ummmm interesting. I think the images of the kids in the kitchen are actual portraits...maybe not a great idea to leave those up....

Another2Cats · 26/04/2024 13:13

As others have said, outside of London you get very different properties. Within a 20 mile radius of where I live there is literally nothing for sale for that amount.

The nearest is a block of farmland, around 2,500 acres in Northants, going for £19m, or this one which is a Grade II listed 16th century hall with 1,000 acres of land in Rutland for £17m
