Bit of a quirky house in Hampstead…

Do the owners just like books or is this an attempt at a Tracey Emin unmade bed art installation look with random books piled up instead.

It confuses my brain and doesn't look like there is any real comfort.

This. I'm not a fan of it to be honest.

viques · 26/04/2024 17:26

Some nice art work . The books have been curated to death which only makes me despise the owners who think it’s ok to treat books like that. The communal garden could be a blessing or a curse, probably a curse. And while I am at it that enormous bath is ridiculous unless you are offering to bathe your kids footie team.

covetingthepreciousthings · 26/04/2024 17:35

Is the price definitely not a typo?!?

Love the house though, would love to know who lives there.

JamSandle · 26/04/2024 17:37

I think it's gorgeous.

JaneAustensCat · 26/04/2024 17:55

It's Swiss Cottage by another name not SJW and definitely NOT Hampstead. We north Londoners know the difference😂

For £22Mil they could at least have jetwashed the patio. The coffee table says 'not we don't own a cat, or a dog with a waggy tail'. Also
"no children allowed to visit, ever" .

Round the corner for a mere £3Mill more you can get this which at least has it's own direct access to Primrose Hill, a proper garden and a pool. Very different vibe though.

Interesting!

The house has a lot of expensive artwork on its walls from Gilbert & George to aTracey Emin neon sculpture.

As a Londoner I must say I don't think this is worth £22 million!

If I had that amount of money I would buy a period property with land and stables outside London. Not this.

Beyond the art which I quite like, It feels rather cold and has no character.

Anyone who spends £22mil on a house, especially one like that, is an absolute idiot and has more money than sense.

It's absolutely gorgeous, I think.

Love the quirky bits and in love with that metal/glass internal wall/door from kitchen to diner.

If this doesn't prove how bonkers London prices are, nothing will!

Alwayswonderedwhy · 26/04/2024 18:20

Beautiful house apart from the plastic grass. I couldn't afford the original art works never mind the house.

I doubt anyone who can afford a £22 million pound house cares what someone on Mumsnet thinks.

What’s the weird squashy looking thing with a random rattan chair in the centre?

Think how many affordable homes you could build for £22 million.

That thing is going to give me nightmares.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 26/04/2024 19:25

£22m and no private garden! 😮

ohthejoys21 · 26/04/2024 19:37

Not mad on the decor apart from the Julian Opie art and the kitchen!

ThePoshUns · 26/04/2024 17:17

The owners are clearly creative types ( and pretentious) the book piles are horrid and not sure what the black hole on the wall next to them are

I'm going to guess the black hole is an Anish Kapoor. Could the owners kindly jump on here and give us the answers please?

commonground · 26/04/2024 20:55

I haven't spotted the Emin. I concur that could be Tony Cragg in the garden. I like this game.

arbitary · 26/04/2024 21:23

AmaryllisChorus · 26/04/2024 09:40

I like it but not for that price - blimey! That looks like it might be an original Anish Kapoor on the wall. I wouldn't have that all over Rightmove.

The book piles are pretentious. Anyone who reads books wants easy access to them, spines out, in some sort of order, not tottering piles.

Also a Donald Judd. I’d love to have a look around. The books are probably an artwork, no?

Yes. I'm pretty sure though it could be an imposter of course!
