Do the owners just like books or is this an attempt at a Tracey Emin unmade bed art installation look with random books piled up instead.

I love how the Londoners are discussing the area (is it Hamstead or not etc.) and the rest of us are scrabbling around to see what we can get for that in our areas 😂I'm enjoying the property porn this is throwing up as well as the comments on the art as I am a bit clueless.

I worked minutes from that house, it's technically Swiss Cottage but you could argue St John's Wood at a stretch. It's on a close that looks like a suburb, despite being right in the centre of London. Proper little wealthy enclave. It's definitely not worth £22million though.

I did. Bit dodgy!

Ah, the photos are Jemima Stehli. I thought they had a voyeuristic feminist vibe to them.

I think this is deffo someone who has chosen their own a/w rather than being 'curated'.

I am enjoying this 'through the keyhole' game!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 26/04/2024 14:54

Yeah, for 22 million I want somewhere to stable the ponies that isn't right across town and enough space for the dogs to roam without being 'evil eyed' by all the nannies out with their charges.

Think I'll stick to my poor little house. At least I can stand outside and not be overlooked (even if it is overlooked by billionaires)!

How can a house cost £22million? That’s more money that I will ever earn in my entire life!

LoopyLolaGranola · 26/04/2024 15:09

Plus is that low cabinet in front of the window something from Ikea for £50 or from I Saw You Coming Naice Interiors for £5000.

@Bjorkdidit do you mean the half wood, half painted thing in the window of picture 2? It looks somewhat hand painted —patchy—. I think it might be a £50k minimalist sculpture from I Saw You Coming Galleries. Or £500k, depending on the artist…

I know someone who hung an empty, awkward shaped (hence empty), very fancy, small gilt frame that their grandfather made on a gallery wall in their home, just as a quirky object that they loved. It was like the emperor’s new clothes as some people tried to work out the artist and interpret it 😂

Jux · 26/04/2024 15:11

Nice house, terrible decor. Also, it looks hard (and expensive) to heat.

C152 · 26/04/2024 15:13

Given that they only seem to have books in that one room, I'd say it was an attempt to make them look 'arty', like people who arrange their books by colour.

I can't get over the price - WHO are the people that have that much money to spend on just a house?!

LlynTegid · 26/04/2024 15:16

I noticed the Gilbert and George artwork. Would put me off as I don't like their work, seems to be provocative for the sake of it. Tracey Emin's work may not be to your taste (or mine) but is seeking to say something.

GoldenTrout · 26/04/2024 15:20

It's not that many books, though, is it? From the OP I was expecting somewhere with bookshelves lining every room. We've got more than that in our house which is a fraction of the size of that one.

Though if I was going to spend millions it would be this https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/142135811#/?channel=RES_BUY

and spend the rest of the money on a lock up and leave in London!

'Scuse me while I pop out to buy a lottery ticket.

Isn't all art provocative for the sake of it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Naff.

Cluttered and a mish mash of all sorts of styles, seems like they couldnt pick one style and stick with it. Its a mess. WTF is that crap on the coffee table about?!

When you can afford 22 million, nothing is hard or expensive to heat.

Maybe their style is "stuff we like".

I'd rather have their "cluttered" look than some soulless minimalist shite.

Apart from that coffee table. That's mad. Where do you put your mug?

Money can't buy taste 😂

Exactly my thought.

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 26/04/2024 16:56

My friend used to live in Wadham Gardens....in Greenford....no houses there for £22.5m. More like £500k.

KnickerlessParsons · 26/04/2024 16:56

Hapagirl48 · 26/04/2024 09:34

I love it but the price! Even for London. And I don't like the idea of going onto the 2nd floor to do my laundry. But maybe if I could afford that house, I could afford a servant to do it for me 😆

Most of the laundry is generated on the bedroom floor though, so it may actually be easier.

scrivette · 26/04/2024 16:57

I have piles of books around my house - it's because I don't have enough room for more bookshelves, maybe I will start calling them art!

Civilservant · 26/04/2024 16:58

£22 million!!!

Garlicked · 26/04/2024 17:01

I like their sofas <misses point>

That's just beautiful but maybe not as much in the depths of winter.

That amount of money on one house is obscene, although better than a flat in Belgravia I suppose

The only place near me in that price range is a full working farm, with several houses, abstraction licenses a tonne of land and a good chunk of coastline

Alderton Farm and land

Is that area of coastline at risk of erosion like so much of North Norfolk?

IamII · 26/04/2024 17:09

You could probably buy every house in my town for £22 million!

ThePoshUns · 26/04/2024 17:17

The owners are clearly creative types ( and pretentious) the book piles are horrid and not sure what the black hole on the wall next to them are
