Do you generally always get a takeaway at the weekend?

We are finding it just getting a little expensive to do every weekend. I'm trying to do little takeaway meals to make it exciting but according to my 15 year old EVERYONE in his class get a takeaway at the weekend. Surely not.

No we never get one but I do like a visit to a coffee shop if I can
I tend to make a curry in the slow cooker or fajitas on a Friday night

hopeishere · 03/02/2024 17:07

Yes. I hate cooking. It's my break from it on a Friday night!

PickAChew · 03/02/2024 17:07

Nope. Just once a month.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 03/02/2024 17:08

No, we had a full English delivered this morning though as hangover was kicking our butts.

DGPP · 03/02/2024 17:08

No but we do get the M&S or posh supermarket curry meal deals so it feels like a takeaway

Firstleftpastthetree · 03/02/2024 17:08

No, it's an occasional treat.

ChessieFL · 03/02/2024 17:08

No, maybe once every six weeks or so

BreakfastAtMimis · 03/02/2024 17:09

I can't remember the last time we got one, probably last summer before we moved house, there are no decent takeaways around here!

ghostbusters · 03/02/2024 17:09

We only have a takeaway 3-4 times a year.
We do have supermarket pizza every Friday though.

NewmummyJ · 03/02/2024 17:09

No, but we get the takeaway meals from the supermarket, much better value for money! Overpriced cold food eating up our income (no pun intended) is just not wise these days!

EasternStandard · 03/02/2024 17:09

We pretty much never order takeaway but our supermarket shop is quite high and we go to cafes every weekend

Bedroomconfig · 03/02/2024 17:10

No, it's really expensive for a family. It's a pay day treat for us, so once a month.

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 03/02/2024 17:10

We can't get food delivered here, we'd have to drive 8 miles to the nearest town to collect and we can't be bothered. So no, we never have takeaway.

SM4713 · 03/02/2024 17:10

Every weekend! Not in our house😕
Our local Indian does a Wed special, so we might have that once every month or 2. Also Chinese or Thai every month or 2. No set routine for every weekend though!

Ilovelurchers · 03/02/2024 17:10

No, it is pretty rare for us to get one. On the weekend she is with me (she is at her dad's alternate ones) dd and I do quite often nip for a McDonalds lunch tho - probably every other one of our weekends, so once a month on average.

I would say we get a takeaway once a month at most (not always on a weekend). The only time this is more is when we are away for our summer holidays - we have a van and travel in England and have quite a few takeaways then.

We used to have them more regularly as a general thing, before the credit crunch. Now it's a very occasional thing.

biscuitnut · 03/02/2024 17:10

No I don’t, it’s a rare event in our house. I think your 15 year old daughter is doing what we all did as teenagers and play the ‘everyone else’s mum and dad does…’ Tell her get a paper round and pay for it herself if she wants one so bad! 😂

dementedpixie · 03/02/2024 17:10

We have a takeaway every 2 or 3 weeks.

Hedonism · 03/02/2024 17:10

Nope, hardly ever.

TheSmallAssassin · 03/02/2024 17:11

We used to have fish and chips every weekend until our eldest was a few months old (20 years ago!), then it was rarely for several years, since our kids have been teenagers it's probably been one every couple of months. I don't know anyone who has a takeaway every week now.

Queijo · 03/02/2024 17:11

We usually go out for dinner once a weekend but I’ve got horrendous morning (lol) sickness and the only thing I want right now is Chinese egg fried rice and chicken balls. So might be having takeout every day for a few weeks 😂

loudbatperson · 03/02/2024 17:11

We generally go out to eat at the weekend instead.

However if we are really tired, sick or stuck in the house for another reason we will get a takeaway instead.

It's nice to have a night off from planning, cooking and tidying away.

Malarandras · 03/02/2024 17:11

No, never have takeaways. There are no good ones near me.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 03/02/2024 17:12

We did last year until I worked out we were spending nearly £250 a month on takeaways 😳 so we've cut down and only had one in January. Will be getting a curry tomorrow night though but hopefully that will be it for February...

fluffiphlox · 03/02/2024 17:12

We get a takeaway about once a year. We like to cook from scratch and eat out, we get a takeaway sometimes on return from a holiday. I never enjoy it as much as I hope to.

OpalOrchid · 03/02/2024 17:12

Yes, most Saturday nights.
