Do you generally always get a takeaway at the weekend?

We are finding it just getting a little expensive to do every weekend. I'm trying to do little takeaway meals to make it exciting but according to my 15 year old EVERYONE in his class get a takeaway at the weekend. Surely not.

Never.

We probably have a takeaway as a treat once a fortnight.

@AllProperTeaIsTheft

Exactly! Thank you 😊

@PyongyangKipperbang it's not a race to the bottom all the time. The question wasn't can you afford to do X it was do you

No, I never get a takeaway.

We had a pie and a pint/wine for £15 so pie beef/chicken with peas mashed/chips potatoes. For lunch. At a venue rather than at home.

I'm not a fan of Tesco Etc meal deals because I'm juggling ovens and microwave use.

We tend to have a takeaway every Saturday night. Before lockdown we went out every weekend but realising how much cheaper a takeaway was made me mean!

Do you live in London by any chance? We do and the choice on Deliveroo and Uber Eats is bonkers, not only do we have restaurants and food outlets taking over every high street, we have high streets a plenty. It can take 20 min just to scroll through, even with filters. My husband and me both earn good money so we end up getting Nando's once during the week, and on the weekend something else. Twice a week in london is tame.

In Leeds my son pays so much less for sushi, Chinese, Vietnamese etc. however his parents in the hinterlands of north Wales pay more and wait an hour at least for a delivery

No, we live in London and have tons of takeaways near us but it's always felt extravagant and even more so now prices have risen. We aren't poor - 2 dcs at private school and a house in zone 2 - but it just feels poor value for money, especially compared to a good supermarket meal deal, and the dcs would just rather have plain familiar meals. We'll get one every few months maybe, and have a meal out on birthdays (there's 5 of us).
