Do you generally always get a takeaway at the weekend?

We are finding it just getting a little expensive to do every weekend. I'm trying to do little takeaway meals to make it exciting but according to my 15 year old EVERYONE in his class get a takeaway at the weekend. Surely not.

No. We get a takeaway once in a blue moon.

Dacadactyl · 03/02/2024 18:26

We have a takeaway maybe once every 2 months.

Viclla · 03/02/2024 18:27

We used to get at least one a week. Cutting right back as I can't justify the cost. We had a kfc delivered and it came to £42 for 2 adult meals and 1 child's meal. £35 for a Chinese for 2 adults and a toddler sharing one container of chop suey, rice, chips and a couple of sides. Too much! Once a month max now.

Wictc · 03/02/2024 18:28

Usually during the week we are more likely to get a takeaway as it’s hectic with work and nursery etc. We have more time to cook at the weekend. We have sushi most Thursdays.

Anjea · 03/02/2024 18:28

Yes we do

Ilovemyshed · 03/02/2024 18:29

No. Sometimes get a meal deal or a Cook curry meal but its not the norm.

we did and still do them on aver.twice a month we couldn't afford them every weekend and .takeaways are a treat they shouldn't be expected. It doesn't matter what "everyone " does.

Definitely payday onwards , on a Friday for 1-2weeks. Then I stop. Good job I don't have unlimited funds or I would be 15 stone.

NobilityScooter · 03/02/2024 18:32

Literally never. We can't afford to and I can't understand how most people can!

Paw2024 · 03/02/2024 18:33

No. I don't cook on a Friday thought (live alone)
But that could be anything from
Getting a "ready meal" from a local place (it's stuff like jerk chicken with mac and cheese and no weird additives) for £6
Takeaway
Ready made pizza
Cereal Blush
Beige freezer food

No, always regret it and feel greasy after plus household of takeaway poos and farts plus waste of money plus fattest country in Europe.

🤣🤣🤣

Decafflatteplease · 03/02/2024 18:33

We used to get a Chinese every Saturday night but it was costing loads of money and also not good for our waistline or health!

We now do "pizza Friday" which is far cheaper and everyone really enjoys it and it's such an easy tea. We get the Asda create your own ones £6 for 2 pizzas and a bottle of drink and we add in nuggets, wedges etc.

We get a Chinese on a Saturday maybe once every 6-8 weeks or so, usually school holidays. We actually enjoy it more now that we have it less!

Imnotabigbeliever · 03/02/2024 18:33

No, not because of money but because we have the choice of curry, Chinese or dominos and I’m not that enamoured with any of them to rotate all year.

Fluffy24 · 03/02/2024 18:34

We have a takeaway most Fridays, mainly so I can have a night off cooking and it provides a nice signal that the working week is over. Don't spend a huge amount though, often it's a single large pizza to share, or fish and chips etc. Around once a month we'll have a more extravagant takeaway e.g. an Indian with several different dishes.

irishapple · 03/02/2024 18:34

We do unless we have spent money on food out already that week - usually on a Saturday. I like just not having to cook ✌🏻

I had a large sum of additional money available during the pandemic and I got to my heaviest ever weight at 13stone (9 stone for most of my life!) it kind of sucks because under normal circumstances I’d have spent that money on driving lessons or a couple of dream holidays instead of just increasing my waistline lol but you live and learn

Tinytigertail · 03/02/2024 18:36

No, I'm invariably disappointed with them. I either cook at home or go out for dinner.

SameSameButDeliverance · 03/02/2024 18:37

Last one was sushi at the end of October. I would only order sushi as I like cooking and prefer to make my own curries.

Chinese delivery round here is woeful. Bright orange, too much MSG, far too much salt etc. Some good Turkish and fish and chips but too expensive (and I’m not poor).

Thought about getting one tonight but enjoyed making a good firey and smokey fajita mix, my own (very limey with a tonne of coriander) guacamole and spicy wedges. Indulging after my soak in the bath.

hby9628 · 03/02/2024 18:37

Yes. Usually every Saturday night. We don't go out much so it's our family treat

megletthesecond · 03/02/2024 18:38

Never have takeaways. Food allergies and cost.

Grantanow · 03/02/2024 18:39

Occasionally we have a supermarket curry or pizza but not as a weekend takeaway.

Tanfastic · 03/02/2024 18:40

Yes, because we do fuck all else 😂. It's our Saturday night treat after working hard all week.

hartof · 03/02/2024 18:40

We stopped early last year, cost was one factor and quality was another. I also found having an air fryer and DH getting interested in cooking made it easier. I can buy a pack of chicken thighs, some flatbreads and make kebabs for less than the price of one kebab from the local take away and they are much better quality.

We make our own curries but If we get a takeaway it will always be curry. We also got a pizza oven 3 years ago that we use through the summer so that cuts down on takeaway pizzas and again miles cheaper.

Yozzer87 · 03/02/2024 18:41

Yes every weekend. We don't do whole family takeaways though. The kids have Mcdonalds every Friday and husband and I will have a takeaway and wine Saturday when they are in bed.

SallyWD · 03/02/2024 18:41

No, hardly ever. Maybe two a year
