What's your little extravagance?

Maybe a guilty pleasure or something you don't strictly need to pay for but you really appreciate the impact of it.

Recently, paying to skip the security queue at a certain nightmare airport is fucking heaven. It seems ridiculous to me to spend £5 on it but i've had stressful queuing experiences where I thought we might miss our flight. Swanning past the queue is bliss but a bit naughty because it costs me nothing to wait in line.

A hot stone massage every once in a while.

otherwise it’s a box of Godiva chocolates twice a year.

Horse riding!

Me too!
I have a mixture of private and group lessons and it costs me around £100-120 per month but would be the last thing to go if I had to cut down on things. I'm at my happiest on the back of a horse. Would get my own again if I could afford it Grin

L'occitane shower gel.

I have melted Brie cheese on my toast every morning for breakfast.

Bloody hell @kidsandpuppies that is sublime, strong contender for winning the thread IMO.

@Back21970 yes, I work 4 days a week and it is a massive privilege.

Women’s mags. So expensive, where I live. And nowhere near as good as they used to be. But, I know if I’ve got time for a read & cuppa (and cake!) then I’ll buy myself a copy of Red.

So many lovely treats and ideas on this thread , some £££ and others simple. I’ve been alone today which is quite unusual and it’s been bliss. I’m always cooking and whilst I enjoy it I’m always thinking about who will eat what. Today I had to really think what I actually wanted. I’ve decided it’s two poached eggs on toasted sourdough with smoked salmon and avocado. 😀

@blossom Becausemy friends would Think it was a really very odd thing to do

That sounds like a them issue. One thing I love about getting a bit middle aged is doing things like this and what other people think just doesn’t cross my mind. It’s totally liberating

43ontherocksporfavor · 28/10/2023 19:40

@starsandbeyond if that worries you , go somewhere different. I did it yesterday, sat in the window watching the world go by.

Another here who thinks your friends are very odd. DH and I often have breakfast with friends after Parkrun. If DH and our friends don't go (as was the case a couple of weeks ago) I just go to the same place on my own, and I often stay for a second or third coffee and enjoy the peace.

Don't let other people's thoughts dictate what you do for goodness sake!

A decent bra - life is much better when you're fully hoiked up and boobs facing forward rather than east/west/under your arms.
Bamboo socks from Thought.
Nice cordial/squash as I don't drink anymore.
Always have perfume - I love nice smells. I'm not even particularly fussy on scents really - if I'm skint, I'll buy Elizabeth Arden Green Tea.
Making a decent lunch for work - doesn't always happen but my work day is much nicer when I have lunch to look forward to.

NutellaEllaElla · 28/10/2023 20:22

Hah, i'm kind of the opposite, whenever I can get away with it, i'll wear what I call my 'pyjama bra' - not underwired, heaven! I hate proper bras.

Don't knock Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, it's an excellent scent conceived by a master perfumer ( Francis Kurkdijan **)

Airport lounges when going on holiday.
More comfortable seating, food and drink on tap.

MeinKraft · 28/10/2023 22:03

Books. I try to reduce the cost buying from charity shops, borrowing from the library and with kindle unlimited sub. But sometimes there's a new release that I just can't get from those places so I will buy it for myself. I've never regretting buying a book.

StarDolphins · 28/10/2023 22:08

Waitrose for my shopping. I got so fed up with Aldi’s awful quality. I would rather eat less & it be nice.

43ontherocksporfavor · 28/10/2023 22:17

@StarDolphins don’t diss Aldi, just been today. All fab quality.

Maybe it’s just my branch that gets all the old & manky fruit & veg & the chicken that smells like a dead body then!😆

LightsOutAndAwayWeGooooo · 28/10/2023 22:21

For me it's my monthly nail mail subscription from a nail company. I get 3 gel polishes for £12 and they're brilliant! It's not really a huge amount, but it's enough to make me smile :)
