What's your little extravagance?

Maybe a guilty pleasure or something you don't strictly need to pay for but you really appreciate the impact of it.

Recently, paying to skip the security queue at a certain nightmare airport is fucking heaven. It seems ridiculous to me to spend £5 on it but i've had stressful queuing experiences where I thought we might miss our flight. Swanning past the queue is bliss but a bit naughty because it costs me nothing to wait in line.

The easiest way to clean your oven or glass door is to ‘scrub’ with a dishwasher tablet .. magic ! Clean the oven shelves by wrapping in foil, immersing in hot water and putting a dishwasher tablet in top. After a couple of hours the gunk will just flake off.

Do they do electric hobs and the glass in the door and how will do they do it? I don’t want any scrubbing scratchy marks. Have wanted to do this but I am very particular about this!

It's brilliant, everything comes apart and is soaked in the back of the van and gets put back together spotless and gleaming.

Freshly ground coffee every morning. The bean to cup machine was not cheap and I normally prefer a cup of tea but I really love a nice coffee first thing and mine are the best - no coffee shop can compare. If it's sunny I'll sit in the conservatory and pretend I'm abroad 😀

Yes! This is mine too. Heaven and worth every penny

I get the audio version of books I buy on my kindle so I can read and listen when I don’t feel like reading

gel nails

Mulhollandmagoo · 27/10/2023 20:54

Fairy washing up liquid! It's definitely better than the cheap stuff

ScottChegg · 27/10/2023 20:57

@StasisMom @LearningTo If I could afford a tenner a pair I'd get them from Nordic Socks but as it is I get them from Ebmore on Amazon.

Itsamumone · 27/10/2023 20:59

Couldn’t afford to actually pay off the winter holiday I had booked (haven’t been away in 2 years) but saw another hotel and decided to phone up and majorly upgrade 🤣 Just thought I deserve it and il deal with the rest later 😬

FoleyHuck · 27/10/2023 21:05

At the moment I'm pregnant so it's innocent smoothies at about £4 a bottle because the outrageous price is offset by all the wine I'm not buying Grin

I also paid for a service wash at the laundry when we got back from holiday last weekend because I couldn't be arsed doing multiple loads and having everything draped around the house to dry.

In the longer term scheme of things it's the occasional dress (in the sale) from Whistles, and White Company loungewear and socks.

Taxi after an evening out or a long train journey. It's so lovely to get home quickly and comfortably.

Love this thread.

My gym membership and protein powder, gel nails as I love having my nails always looking good. My inkey list skincare it makes my skin look so good. I also treated myself to a gorgeous thick pink wooly scarf from The white Stuff.

Bacon roll and cup of tea whilst sitting reading my Kindle at my favourite independent cafe every Tuesday morning - alone. I love it!

Merrilydancing · 27/10/2023 21:36

Seeded sourdough bread from marks, with lovely butter.

Oven cleaner is now considered as essential!

Mulhollandmagoo · 27/10/2023 21:46

Oh....and cathedral city cheese, me and my husband often say we need to make cutbacks on the food shop, but that will never ever be one of them 😂

livingthegoodlife · 27/10/2023 21:50

Smoked salmon. I sit up my desk pull the packet open and just eat it very slowly in very small pieces using a fork and then I throw the packet in the bin. No plate to wash up

43ontherocksporfavor · 27/10/2023 21:56

Nice perfume
cashmere wrap
Egyption cotton bedding

Heyhoherewegoagain · 27/10/2023 21:56

This is possibly tmi but I have a Hollywood wax every 5-6 weeks. It’s not about sex (I’m well menopausal), amd no one see it, but I’ve just always hated having pubic hair, from the day I got it. So now I don’t

Dora the kitten! We already had a dog and two cats and adamant that was it, but something was amiss. Dora arrives and Shazam! She blends everything together with cheek and confidence! ❤️🐾❤️🐾

Three horses 😎

RecycleMePlease · 27/10/2023 22:02

I have one of those sauna sleeping bag things - one of the cheap ones. It feels decadant if I manage to get into it 3 nights a week.

and, unless I'm away for more than a week, I pay for the short-term carpark so I don't have to get on a bus with luggage and kids. And I don't care that it's often about 50 quid more.

Folklore9074 · 27/10/2023 22:06

Scented candles, gym membership, Laura Mercia almond or vanilla bubble bath (aldi do a good dupe when money is tight), when life is horribly busy COOK meals and getting the laundry done at the laundrette - the woman uses something that smells lovely, and it comes back folded and ready to put away.

dothehokeycokey · 27/10/2023 22:13

Valentte reed diffusers and oils
I've tried so many over the years and these are like luxury.
I sometimes buy their room sprays but are super expensive so I love the habitat amber and fig leaf room spray.

Makes my house smell like heaven Grin

Gel polish once a month which I've only recently started as I love how it makes me look more polished

Balance me skin care. The oils and moisturisers are amazing and smell divine. I feel amazing after a shower and applying these.

Expensive perfume. Worn every day. Even on the weekend when I'm power washing and dog walking with no make up on and a jumpsuit.

Lurpak. Need I say more Grin
