What's your little extravagance?

Maybe a guilty pleasure or something you don't strictly need to pay for but you really appreciate the impact of it.

Recently, paying to skip the security queue at a certain nightmare airport is fucking heaven. It seems ridiculous to me to spend £5 on it but i've had stressful queuing experiences where I thought we might miss our flight. Swanning past the queue is bliss but a bit naughty because it costs me nothing to wait in line.

My Neom oils. Bloody expensive but I love putting the pod on after a long day.

whatisforteamum · 28/10/2023 06:23

Ovens don't take long to clean.
Spray leave a while and wash out.I can't believe companies charge so much.
I like cleaning though.

Tryingtokeepcalmandcarryon · 28/10/2023 06:47

A night away with OH every year to a nice hotel with a pool, a good book and no children / plans :) for 24 hours I don’t do anything for anyone and it’s bliss. Children love a sleepover at GPS (Normally frugal, don’t go abroad etc!)

Usernamen · 28/10/2023 06:50

Daily coffee from my favourite coffee shop

Mindful Chef subscription

Business class flights (usually pay with avios)

Taxis/private transfers when travelling

Exercise classes at bougie London studios

QueenRainbow · 28/10/2023 07:08

Lush shower gel and shampoo/conditioner
new books once a month
better quality clothing for myself and the kids.
the odd takeaway.

QueenRainbow · 28/10/2023 07:09

Oh and decent perfume not saved for “best” (I never go out so it won’t be used)

countdowntonap · 28/10/2023 08:28

Spa membership - of paid upfront for the year, the monthly total is less than just one full spa day, yet I can use it every day (just don’t have the time!).

King prawns as snacks. I keep 4-5 packs in the fridge for when I want a quick, low calorie protein boost.

I’m also with the ‘decadent shower’ previous posters. Makes a mundane task feel like a daily luxury.

BruhWhy · 28/10/2023 09:36

YouTube premium. It's a very little extravagance as DH manages to get it for £2 a month or something small, but I watch a lot of tutorials and DIY channels, especially while having a nice bath and I can't imagine having to skip ads now!

maw29 · 27/10/2023 22:36

I do this too. It's lovely, I take a book with me.

I'd love to do this. Do you feel a bit Billy no mates sitting alone ? Plus, I'd go to my fav breakfast place which i sometimes go to with friends. What if my friends were there, meeting up without me ? Some of the group do things with just 2, we all do in the group. I'd be mortified if some were there at the same time and saw me

BIossomtoes · 28/10/2023 09:58

Why on earth would you feel mortified to be seen having a bit of me time?

starsandbeyond · 28/10/2023 10:01

@blossom Becausemy friends would Think it was a really very odd thing to do

starsandbeyond · 28/10/2023 10:03

If I did go alone, i could have the huge breakfast.i secretly always want this but friends see it as greedy to have the large one (it is huge!) And have made comments to that affect when seeing it on the menu

BIossomtoes · 28/10/2023 10:03

Wow. I think your friends are odd. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t relish a bit of peace and quiet on their own.

starsandbeyond · 28/10/2023 10:05

@BIossomtoes it's 1 friend in particular who is very needy for social interaction and attention and to be the centre of attention

Motnight · 28/10/2023 10:19

Fresh flowers delivered every month. Although have to say that I also love daffodils and have bunches of them throughout the house as soon as they are available!

Perfume - wear it every day whether I am going out or not. My mum used to save all her nice things for best and as a result rarely use them so I do the opposite.

spookehtooth · 28/10/2023 10:27

@starsandbeyond that's more about your then your friends. Just let their feelings wash over you, if they saw you. Don't have to persuade them, acknowledge how they feel and say you like it. Ditto the breakfast, they'll get over it, we're all allowed to like things others don't

CarrieMoonbeams · 28/10/2023 02:59

@DilemmaDelilah I wish you all the best 💐

And @JemOfAWoman , ok, just hand over the delightful kitten and beautiful dog (is it a Flattie?) and no-one gets hurt! 😍

My main indulgence is food - I'm veggie, DH isn't, and I like to buy the very best quality possible. And lots of it too, my fridge and freezer are stacked like Jenga! We're retired though so are at home for most meals. I get my food shopping delivered once a week.

I suppose our other main indulgence is our pets, we have loads. We just adore them all.

It is a flattie - well spotted! Walter is the owner of my heart ❤️

GuitarGeorgina · 28/10/2023 11:09

Coffee beans. For me it has to be 200 degrees coffee (Notts thing, but also available online).

expensive perfume worn everyday. One bottle lasts a year or so.

This thread is going to cost me a fortune!

ProfYaffle · 28/10/2023 11:17

Mine are all food related 😅

Maldon sea salt - feels so cheffy when I sprinkle it around with a flourish
Good quality herbal tea bags
Local farm shops for sourdough bread and Baron Bigod cheese (though I've given up the artisanal crumpets now they're £7 a pack!)

SallyWD · 28/10/2023 12:01

Cleaner. It's an extravagance because I do have time to clean (work 3 days per week). However I spent 7 hours as a housewife doing nonstop house work and I was sick of cleaning. Also I do absolutely all other house chores whilst DH works long hours so in that sense I feel its fair.

TeaMistress · 28/10/2023 12:19

Regular manicure, pedicure and waxing. Loose leaf tea, good coffee beans and pure cotton bed linen.

TattyOne · 28/10/2023 12:38

A can of Strongbow that's been in the fridge for a week so it's SOOOO icy and cold!

I restrict my alcohol, which I only have once monthly, to no later than 7pm but I've got a monster of a cold on me at the moment and my throat feels like I've been eating boxes of drawing pins so about 2am I had 2 Paracetamol washed down with 2 cans one after the other to ease the throat! Sat there on the edge of the bed guzzling away!

I've NEVER had 2 cans in one month, let alone within minutes of each other! But OMG they were gorgeous!

CarrieMoonbeams · 28/10/2023 14:27

JemOfAWoman · 28/10/2023 11:07

It is a flattie - well spotted! Walter is the owner of my heart ❤️

Gorgeous dogs. We used to have a dog whose mum was a Flattie, dad was a black Lab, we used to say that she was a short wheel base Flattie 😍

TokyoSushi · 28/10/2023 14:32

Fancy gym, honestly feels like I've had a spa day before work.

Back21970 · 28/10/2023 14:52

My main indulgence is working part time which unfortunately means less money to splash out but for me it’s priceless to have less stress and more time to relax.

I also subscribe £20 per month to the Liberty Beauty Drop so I can save up for posh make up spurges a few times a year.

Some things on here have me seriously tempted - the hazelnut coffee sounds good.

Will be kind of saving £40 anyway by trying the dishwasher tablet trick on my badly needed cleaned oven tomorrow 😀
