What's your little extravagance?

Maybe a guilty pleasure or something you don't strictly need to pay for but you really appreciate the impact of it.

Recently, paying to skip the security queue at a certain nightmare airport is fucking heaven. It seems ridiculous to me to spend £5 on it but i've had stressful queuing experiences where I thought we might miss our flight. Swanning past the queue is bliss but a bit naughty because it costs me nothing to wait in line.

Not picking up the phone. Everything is finally sold/settled/insured/, whoever could be dead is gone, no more dreading, no more anticipating, just ignore....

Shufflebumnessie · 27/10/2023 22:20

I have revamped my wardrobe via Vinted. I've bought several lovely tops and jumpers for less than £6 each including postage. Most would have cost £25 plus new from the store, so I'm very happy as my clothes were very old and making me feel frumpy, scruffy and generally low.

Selling on Vinted (there's a theme going on here...), getting rid of my old clothes and watching my Vinted balance rise so that I can then spend it on buying new (to me) clothes on Vinted...it's an endless circle!

On the rare occasion that we fly abroad we pay for the Meet & Greet parking at the Terminal. It's a game changer when travelling with children & lots of luggage!

Fresh flowers every 2 weeks for my kitchen & living room.
Wax melts. I burn these every evening and they make my home smell amazing!

TortolaParadise · 27/10/2023 22:30

Electric car charger
Electric toothbrush - luxury

Notmollybutdolly · 27/10/2023 22:35

I love treating myself 🤣🤣
coffee in my fav coffee shop. I have a posh sage machine at home but from the shop is just 💯
a new Vogue magazine (and the peace to read it!)
monthly yoga membership

Breakfast out once a week, by myself.

I do this too. It's lovely, I take a book with me.

NutellaEllaElla · 27/10/2023 22:46

You have reminded me of a gorgeous extravagance I sometimes do in winter. Find a cozy hotel lounge with sofas, comfy armchairs and a fireplace, take a book, order a hot chocolate or maybe a nice sandwich. Stay there for a whole afternoon. Heaven!

I'm loving this thread and living through you all vicariously! ❤

Expensive hand cream

Hall84 · 27/10/2023 22:59

@Folklore9074 could you link a pic to the aldi almond oil bath stuff please?
Our extravagant purchase is l'occitane almond oil for bath and shower. DD has terrible eczema and its the one thing that doesn't flare it.

Fummymummy · 27/10/2023 23:01

Every now and then I love to buy really posh shampoo and conditioner. I love being in the shower so I treat myself to ones that smell amazing, or leave my hair feeling amazing, or sometimes pick the bottles that just look really expensive.

I tend to use my boots points to buy them when I can - so I save up then treat so it feels more special 😂

Raincloudsonasunnyday · 27/10/2023 23:09

By MN (and decent) standards, I live a life or many such luxuries. However, the one thing I feel guilty about and over think and second-guess myself about is: a weekend to myself. I feel that BECAUSE my life is so easy, I shouldn’t do this. It’s not the money, it’s dumping my duties and responsibilities for two days and carrying on as a free person. It happens about once every three years. I absolutely love that time, but it’s definitely a guilty indulgence.

Ykn · 27/10/2023 23:17

Waitrose Smoked Poached Salmon Terrines - especially the pack of 2 big chunky juicy ones.

Ground Hazelnut coffee from Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company. I actually go to bed excited that I'll be drinking this when I wake up! Utterly delicious. I also love Caudalie shower gel and the matching body body after every shower. I figure showers are not terribly indulgent but good scented products make such a difference. Also the Aromatherapy Associates Revive shower oil. £30 a bottle but it lasts for ages if applied to a shower puff.

Definitely with you on Caudalie shower gel and fragrance - summer holidays all over again!

It's brilliant, everything comes apart and is soaked in the back of the van and gets put back together spotless and gleaming.

We use ovenu

You are a star! Thank you!

StoatofDisarray · 28/10/2023 01:22

I buy the best quality, most ethically raised British meat and fish. It's only me eating it (partner is a vegan) and I pretty much live on meat and veggies, so it's a core part of my diet.

Warehouuse · 28/10/2023 01:49

Hotel Chocolat chocolates
Gel nails
Boost Juice smoothies when out shopping
Those amazing brown eggs someone mentioned
Spontaneous nights away in hotels with a pool and spa
Leasing a brand new car after years of old and untrustworthy vehicles
Cream teas, extra points if somewhere fancy by the sea

PawsisShady · 28/10/2023 02:16

@Hall84 it's this one

Agree with the oven clean. He charges £40 to do the oven and hob, uses what seems to be mostly white vinegar and it is sparkling after

What's your little extravagance?
Shraree · 28/10/2023 02:32

100% my cleaner. I love her. Worth every penny.
But also I have a tiny room in my house that is more like a large cupboard. We need storage space but instead, I've made it into my little private office. It has all my books and craft stuff in. It is completely unnecessary but absolutely love it.
I sometimes resent having to hangout with my family in the living room in the evening as I just want to be in my cupboard!

Catsmere · 28/10/2023 02:51

Knitting. Yarn and patterns are so expensive now, but it's my one hobby, and it gets me out of the house once a week to go to my knitting group and have lunch at a cafe.

CarrieMoonbeams · 28/10/2023 02:59

@DilemmaDelilah I wish you all the best 💐

And @JemOfAWoman , ok, just hand over the delightful kitten and beautiful dog (is it a Flattie?) and no-one gets hurt! 😍

My main indulgence is food - I'm veggie, DH isn't, and I like to buy the very best quality possible. And lots of it too, my fridge and freezer are stacked like Jenga! We're retired though so are at home for most meals. I get my food shopping delivered once a week.

I suppose our other main indulgence is our pets, we have loads. We just adore them all.

JemOfAWoman · 27/10/2023 21:59

Dora the kitten! We already had a dog and two cats and adamant that was it, but something was amiss. Dora arrives and Shazam! She blends everything together with cheek and confidence! ❤️🐾❤️🐾

😻😻😻😻😻

justanothermanicmonday1 · 28/10/2023 03:08

2 Kiehls products I buy myself every few months. Makes me feel $1m😂

Hotchocolatemousse · 28/10/2023 03:45

My Charlotte Tilbury foundation, it's £35 a tube but I wear it to work twice a week. My extravagance is wearing makeup twice a week to work plus my expensive perfume. I also buy coffee and lunch out on my work days and then I'm frugal on my wfh days. So it all balances out in the end!
