What's your little extravagance?

Maybe a guilty pleasure or something you don't strictly need to pay for but you really appreciate the impact of it.

Recently, paying to skip the security queue at a certain nightmare airport is fucking heaven. It seems ridiculous to me to spend £5 on it but i've had stressful queuing experiences where I thought we might miss our flight. Swanning past the queue is bliss but a bit naughty because it costs me nothing to wait in line.

On holiday I pay for private transfers from the airport, I’m on package holidays but I cannot face a coach ride post flight with two kids- Sod’s Law we would always be the last drop off

We’re the same. It makes so much difference.

Decent socks. They're 50% merino wool or something, lovely and warm and soft, and three times the price of buying bog standard ones in the supermarket. The cheap ones make my feet feel like they're being strangled so it's worth it to me.

Horse riding!

Nuanced · 27/10/2023 17:12

Loads! I’m a big fan of making my life nicer and easier.

Very happy to pay for upgrades to make travel and hotel stays more enjoyable.

Lakeyloo · 27/10/2023 17:31

We've just paid more to glamp and use the "posh" toilets in the site at a festival next year than we paid for one of us to go on a 10 day abroad holiday this year 😬Unfortunately we did the same last year and just can't go back now !

It's not little but it's definitely a guilty pleasure.
I always pay someone to clean my car once every 6 weeks. Paid someone to clean my oven last time and I would rather eat baked beans for a week now than do it myself again.

Nemareus · 27/10/2023 17:36

Cleaner here too. Mine is male- not to bbrag 😀

I've just booked for someone to come and clean my oven so I don't have to do it. Bliss.

This. I can’t believe we used to clean our own ovens.

Getting my ears and nose waxed, and pedicure & manicure periodically. Not your typical bloke maintenance, but they're little things help make a good impression when taken care of

Heatherbell1978 · 27/10/2023 17:45

I'm really scaling back on everything at the moment but I do still enjoy an (overpriced) coffee by myself in a coffee shop. And my Beauty Pie membership. Their products are really good.

MammaTo · 27/10/2023 17:48

Expensive shampoo and conditioner.

Similar is using the M6 toll when going to see my parents. Only do it if the traffic is busy, but it gives a few miles of blissful calm.

catwithflowers · 27/10/2023 17:52

First class train travel, a recently discovered luxury and I'll only pay for it if it's not stupid money.

Candles, not expensive ones just lots of them.

Flowers, again, not terribly expensive and often just from Aldi or Tesco, just like to always have them in the house.

ThreeRingCircus · 27/10/2023 17:53

A bottle of cremant shared with DH on a Saturday night. It used to be prosecco but we upgraded (and I actually prefer the cremant to most champagne.)

Going to see a beauty therapist for a facial every 6 weeks. I get to lie there for an hour and be pampered with nobody speaking to me or needing anything from me. It's heaven.

muddyford · 27/10/2023 17:57

Expensive perfume every single day, even if I am doing nothing more than walking the dogs.

DilemmaDelilah · 27/10/2023 18:01

In the last ten years - a window cleaner every 6 weeks and getting our gutters cleared every year
In the last 5 years - getting our oven and carpets cleaned once a year. The rest of the year we have to do that ourselves.
In the last 2 years - a couple of hours help in the garden every fortnight
In the last 3 months - 3 hours of cleaning a fortnight.

We are steadily getting more decrepit and now I have cancer 😢. Once I have recovered (crossed fingers) I should be able to do all the cleaning myself.... but I'm not sure I will want to!

LeonBlack · 27/10/2023 18:01

Go to the car valet. I know this is standard for most nowadays, but I can remember washing and vacuuming my car when I was young. Took ages, never looked as good.

whatisforteamum · 27/10/2023 18:04

My new kitten.
After having 3 yrs since our 14 yr old left us PTS I got one.
Well worth the vets bill and insurance.
Bubble bath in every bath even Waitrose essential grapefruit one.

Spare cash goes on garden plants and pinot grigio.

Ditto.

spookehtooth · 27/10/2023 18:17

@DilemmaDelilah with the best outcome in mind, health wise, it sounds like you should keep those luxuries to help you find time for making the most of life

Wallabyone · 27/10/2023 18:35

Coffee, and a cafe sandwich, about once a week.

New books.

spuddel · 27/10/2023 18:38

Ground Hazelnut coffee from Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company. I actually go to bed excited that I'll be drinking this when I wake up! Utterly delicious. I also love Caudalie shower gel and the matching body body after every shower. I figure showers are not terribly indulgent but good scented products make such a difference. Also the Aromatherapy Associates Revive shower oil. £30 a bottle but it lasts for ages if applied to a shower puff.

RiderOfTheBlue · 27/10/2023 18:40

@ScottChegg I'm on the lookout for some nice socks. Where do you get yours from?
