If you aren't having a takeaway tonight, what's on the menu for dinner?

I have always had a Friday takeaway for as long as I can remember. I'm also saving for a wedding so trying to cut this down a bit and cook at home.

But sooooo exhausted come Fridays that I always cave! I've realised how much I've eaten out this week and spent on it so about to head to the supermarket.

What do you have on a Friday for a fuss free dinner - whether a bit of a treat or general everyday stuff.. I need to have a word with myself and get inspired for ideas that feel exciting or just super easy on a Friday!

Beans on toast, and I’m really looking forward to it! It’s so cold and windy it was a Toss up between beans on toast or tomato soup!

I’ve got some chicken thighs roasting that have been doused in spices and herbs. Cut up some potato wedges and made some coleslaw with red cabbage. DH and DD live this meal.

Dacadactyl · 20/10/2023 17:48

I just made a tuna pasta bake cos it's easy.

In your shoes, I'd cook once in a slow cooker on Thursday (something like curry) and do enough for the Thursday and Friday.

2jacqi · 20/10/2023 17:50

roast beef, yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes with veg all cooked from scratch

LouOrange · 20/10/2023 17:51

School carrots are when they cut into circles, like at school!

Thesearmsofmine · 20/10/2023 17:51

Freezer dinner here. Chicken dippers, oven chips and peas.

MintJulia · 20/10/2023 17:51

DS is having frozen pepperoni pizza and garlic bread.

I shall make a mushroom risotto with fresh thyme and Gran Padano for me. 😋

Sourisblanche · 20/10/2023 17:51

The much maligned by mn ‘picky tea’! Grin

We are going away tomorrow so an assortment of bits from fridge and freezer. Plus a glass of rose.

GlosGal · 20/10/2023 17:52

YouveGotAFastCar · 20/10/2023 17:52

Bajan chicken!

Sunshineclouds11 · 20/10/2023 17:52

Asda make your own pizza 👌🏽

ZittiEBuoni · 20/10/2023 17:52

ah, thanks @LouOrange , weird how the baton has taken over so completely from the circle carrot.

sprigatito · 20/10/2023 17:54

I'm ill and feeling pathetic, so I've sent DH to Iceland to buy trash for dinner. I want fish fingers with waffles and beans. And some slush puppies and jubblies, because I have a temperature.

SwearyBetty · 20/10/2023 17:54

I was fancying fish & chips the whole day but my local has recently increased their prices so I’ll be resisting and having fish fingers & oven chips instead. And peas. 😟

Jeannie88 · 20/10/2023 17:54

Wine! Buffet dinner tonight, graze and pick, tapas style. We do this now and again, not a big meal, eating steadily over the evening. Xx

SayWhatWhereNow · 20/10/2023 17:54

We’ve just pulled a curry -batch cooked a couple of weeks ago-out of the freezer. Feeling guilty that we’ve started buying microwave rice pouches so regularly instead of boiling our own, but it’s basmati and takes 35 mins to cook.

Lifeinlists · 20/10/2023 17:54

Cauliflower cheese (2 cheeses) with sautéed onions and mushrooms on it. Plus bacon and some fresh crusty seedy bread bought this afternoon.

LeonoraFlorence · 20/10/2023 17:54

We’re on holiday and headed to our favourite Italian restaurant.

BlackInk · 20/10/2023 17:55

Just put a big tray of veg to roast in the oven – onion, garlic, pepper, courgette, mushroom and purple carrot, seasoned with cajun spice mix. Will serve with rice, grated cheese and some toasted sunflower seeds.

SecondUsername4me · 20/10/2023 17:55

We are having mac and cheese, pulled pork and some caramelised onion garlic breads. The mac and cheese will be home made but the rest is pre prepared.

Teddleshon · 20/10/2023 17:55

Hazelnut crusted rack of lamb and dauphinois potatoes so certainly not fuss feee and I have to say oven chips and fried egg sounds pretty damn appealing!

Whataretheodds · 20/10/2023 17:55

M&S steak dine-in deal - decided I need red meat tonight.
