If you aren't having a takeaway tonight, what's on the menu for dinner?

I have always had a Friday takeaway for as long as I can remember. I'm also saving for a wedding so trying to cut this down a bit and cook at home.

But sooooo exhausted come Fridays that I always cave! I've realised how much I've eaten out this week and spent on it so about to head to the supermarket.

What do you have on a Friday for a fuss free dinner - whether a bit of a treat or general everyday stuff.. I need to have a word with myself and get inspired for ideas that feel exciting or just super easy on a Friday!

Thai green curry with mushrooms, chicken, green beans and coconut milk, with rice. Quite quick and easy.

ForfarBridie · 20/10/2023 18:47

Oven baked salmon with tomato’s, mashed potato and green peas.

A quick and very tasty dinner.

I had leftover beef with a bit of carrot and swede mash and a chunk of red Leicester melted into the mash.

1daughterand3sons · 20/10/2023 18:47

Lasagne and chips

NotFastButFurious · 20/10/2023 18:50

Leftover curry from Wednesday night with some Indian side nibbles from the supermarket.
typical Friday no effort dinners would be pizza or frozen fish, chips and peas, or ready made lasagne or fish pie with salad or veg

IHeartGeneHunt · 20/10/2023 18:51

Carrot and barley risotto, with cheese on

Evenstar · 20/10/2023 18:52

DH is cooking butter chicken with a Patak’s jar, with cauliflower rice and poppadoms, he always cooks on Friday night

Nicole1111 · 20/10/2023 18:54

Steak and cheese ciabatta melts

Phoenix9 · 20/10/2023 18:54

Steak, hassle-back potatoes, caramelised onions and broccoli.

I've been in the kitchen an hour already 🤣

devildeepbluesea · 20/10/2023 18:54

@ErinAndTonic if you’re thinking of pizza, can I recommend something so delicious I ended up having 2 nights running last weekend: a bought margarita pizza pimped with figs, prosciutto, rosemary and spinach. Lots of fresh figs in the supermarket at this time of year.

TwinMummaX · 20/10/2023 18:54

Steak, chips, peas, onion rings and peppercorn sauce here! 😁

disappearingfish · 20/10/2023 18:56

Some indeterminate soup from the freezer (label is smudged, possibly chicken) and some homemade garlic bread.

CoL !

I've got a bit of CoL soup in my freezer too! With similarly smudged labels. I just trust that I've never put anything inedible in the freezer so 🤞

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 20/10/2023 19:00

Creamy cajun chicken pasta with a full garlic baguette each. Ive been on my feet since 5am at work so I've earned this !!

StEtienne93 · 20/10/2023 19:01

I've just been to the corner shop and bought a rustlers chicken burger - classy I know! I'm going to have it with some oven chips, a glass of wine and a wispa gold for pudding. DD is at her dad's and I just want to relax.

Edited

Oooh this sounds delicious! Figs have been on special buy at Aldi recently too - that may have to go on the future list!

I've gone for meatballs, mushrooms and red onion this time.

So many great ideas here.. some will definitely need to wait for this post Covid energy slump to pass, but can rely on MN to provide inspo when I need it 😅

Friday night is always pizza night here, followed by film night with sweets. Little routine we all love!

Dappledgrey · 20/10/2023 19:06

Me and DS carved a pumpkin today so we had pumpkin soup!

however I have almost killed DH who is now stuck on the toilet for the foreseeable as he’s gluten intolerant and the chips I served with it had gluten in apparently. Whoops

CrabbiesGingerBeer · 20/10/2023 19:06

Chicken stew with dumplings (batch cooked and pulled from the freezer) and a lion bar. I’m on a diet and avoiding chocolate during the week so the lion bar is a weekend treat!

Haha this tickled me. Hopefully he has an iPad or similar to take in there 🤣
