I’m so miserable here.

The job requires me being in two different places at once (today it was three).

I’m totally unsupported.

The person who works below me hangs around outside smoking for most of the day.

My job is largely dependent on other people doing things, if they don’t do it I can’t do my job, but I get moaned at if it’s not done.

Everyone says my name wrong.

It’s just awful. Been here three hours and I’ve already cried.

So, once my day is over I’m emailing that I won’t be coming back.

Any tips?

You're doing amazingly well to keep going!
Any news on the DBS/start date for the other post? I hope with the extra holiday pay you weren't expecting you can take a little bit of time to rest and regroup in-between?

IncognitoMam · 15/10/2023 10:21

Not long now! Soon you'll be free. Really hope your new job will be a lot better. 🙏

Hamstermayhem · 15/10/2023 22:01

Keep hanging in there-you’re nearly done! I hope you are very happy in your new job

Usually, annual leave can be taken after 12 weeks rather than 10: this is normally when the probationary period ends.

It depends on the employer, there are no legal rules about probation in the UK, only what employers put in their contracts.

In Germany I think probation periods are 6 months and you can't take holiday. Although I assume there are exceptions if people already have something booked.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 16/10/2023 13:24

I left a permanent job after 3 weeks about 4 years ago (was perimenopausal too and didn’t realise how that affected me).

It was appalling. Everyone who’d been so friendly and nice at interviews had suddenly become quite cold and even unfriendly, think not saying hello or asking how I was etc. I’d come from a year or 18 months of temp contracting (perm jobs before that) which they knew. I was even told off about something which was “social”. A lawyer I worked with/for had broken her desk and got really angry with me about it. There was another legal secretary who was inducting me and I could tell that she had the easier lawyers to work with whereas I had at least one difficult one. The one inducting me I hadn’t met at interview and if I had met her before I might not have taken the job as she was strange. The person previously doing the same role had moved into another role in the company. This wasn’t a law firm but a huge global company. After 3 weeks and me getting upset almost every day I walked out, I did say why though. Luckily I got contract work asap. And if I’d known part of my issues were due to perimenopause I’d have seen my doctor for advice/help on it.

I have one day left to go.

The anxiety is insane.

New job is still processing my DBS but I don’t mind as I need a bit of time and space to recover.

I didn’t even realise how depressed this job was making me. I just have to get through tomorrow.

LizzieSiddal · 16/10/2023 21:44

Well done for getting through it. You’ll look back and be glad you did.

Bollockypiddle · 16/10/2023 21:51

One more day OP and you're outa there! 🙌
You've done so well to keep going.

Hamstermayhem · 16/10/2023 21:58

One more day to go and then you can breeaatthe! Believe me-I know how you feel! You will feel so good when you get tomorrow done and then onwards and upwards 👍

IncognitoMam · 16/10/2023 22:36

You can do it. Deep breaths and visualise the end goal.
I know what it feels like though.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/10/2023 04:23

I had a dream someone was hammering on my door.

It was so loud it woke me up.

This is how bad my MH is.

Going to get through today by taking regular anxiety meds (I can take up to 4 a day) and drinking lots of tea.

So anxious I have ‘wind’ in my ears.

Will be thinking of you today, we’ll all carry you over the line! Just think of tomorrow, waking up with the day all your own.

you can do this x

enchantedsquirrelwood · 17/10/2023 07:53

One more day OP - good luck! And then enjoy the rest before the next job.

Bollockypiddle · 17/10/2023 08:20

Aw OP just keep that end goal in sight! 8 more hours (or whatever) and counting!
Have you got anything nice planned for after work? You really deserve it, so make sure you treat yourself to something lovely x

CapitanSandy · 17/10/2023 08:20

You’re so close! You’ve done brilliantly to stick it out. Hope you can treat yourself tonight and rest before your new job

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/10/2023 09:04

Yes, it is 8 hours.

Last night I was reading a random FB link about Princess Diana and how she described Buckingham Palace as being full of dead energy.

That’s exactly how I feel here. Dead energy. And there’s lingering unpleasantness.

OP posts:
Bollockypiddle · 17/10/2023 09:11

Sounds dreadful.

One foot in front of the other and go through the motions for the last time. Ever.

Just keep thinking of that holiday pay 😍

Copious amounts of chocolate in your handbag?

Take yourself out for a lunchtime treat?

I've worked somewhere like that.

Flags out today!!!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/10/2023 13:09

We had an audit last week and I got marked down for…

Ready?

I HAD A FUCKING DAY OFF!

I was off. One my day off. The same day off I have every week.

Oooooo, roll on 5pm.

OP posts:
Bollockypiddle · 17/10/2023 13:11

That is quite special!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/10/2023 13:19

I’m more than halfway through.

Got cool stuff going on this afternoon so it’ll go fairly quickly.

Here's to the end of your shift @TheLightSideOfTheMoon! 💃🏻

I know someone who is currently a team leader in a care home - like you said, outwardly looks and seems amazing but scratch the surface and it's pretty awful. She's looking for another job too.

Haha they are quite quite mad.

You're almost free!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 17/10/2023 13:44

I’ve had one day off since last Monday.

I got marked down for taking one tiny day off (which I’m pretty sure is enshrined in the law somewhere).

FFS.

One the managers who has seen everything I’ve done has given me a banging reference. She’s on my side and agrees with me about the stuff I’ve complained about.
