Do I tell my cleaner I can see her weight on my phone?

I just got some new Bluetooth bathroom scales as I'm doing Slimming World online and I'm finding the additional data and tracking information useful.

When I looked at this morning's data, I noticed there were two entries for yesterday - one at 7.30am and one at 11.29am. Both weights were similar so at first I thought, that's weird, I don't remember weighing again later and it was 2lbs lighter, so I would have remembered that!

Then I realised that it couldn't have been me but the timing coincides with when my cleaner was in that bathroom and I was downstairs. Her weight is probably similar to mine but she's tiny, about 4ft 10 to my 5ft 4 so perhaps she wants to keep track.

I've deleted that entry from my records. I have no problem with her using the scales - she has the WiFi password and we encourage her to feel comfortable here, we pay her above the going rate and give her birthday and Christmas gifts. We've known her for 5 years. The dilemma is, shall I tell her that I can see her weigh ins?

If she used the scales in the other bathroom, they're not Bluetooth and we wouldn't know!

No, just keep deleting her weight.

I wouldn't tell her, I'd do what Berninaa suggests and just delete it every time.

SacreBleugh · 30/09/2023 06:09

Oh course not. Just delete.

Cupcakegirl13 · 30/09/2023 06:10

Of course not ! Just delete and tell no one !

mikado1 · 30/09/2023 06:14

Obviously not!
Same happened a friend of mine, cleaner weighed herself weekly on the scales. He said nothing. No idea why you've mentioned her height etc.

καλοκαλoκαιρι · 30/09/2023 06:23

just delete it and dont say anything! what’s her height got to do with it though?!

Ozziedream · 30/09/2023 06:30

This happened to me and I told my cleaner as she comes every week: who knows if it was going to become a regular thing? I said she was very welcome to but wanted to let her know I could see as it was the honest thing to do.

I then also showed her the non-techy scales in the cupboard if she wanted to weigh herself privately. we had a laugh about it and moved on.

KeepNameChanging81 · 30/09/2023 06:33

A teensy bit of fat shaming there perhaps OP? The fact is she’s weighing herself, just keep it to yourself.

BoobyDazzler · 30/09/2023 06:37

Of course you shouldn’t mention it.

Itsgottobeme · 30/09/2023 06:39

as long as we know shes fatter than you because she's smaller what does it matter eh op?

So true! What some people will do eh?!

littleblackcat27 · 30/09/2023 06:41

@Itsgottobeme yep

MelroseGrainger · 30/09/2023 06:46

Bizarre question. Why is this even a dilemma? Just ignore it or delete it or both. And move on with your life.

KeepNameChanging81 · 30/09/2023 06:52

Fatter and shorter!

SueDonnym · 30/09/2023 06:53

I don't think it was fat shaming more that the cleaner might not want others seeing her weight - it's as easy to claim the OP was fat shaming than to claim that she was being considerate of her cleaner. OP might also have come on saying cleaner is x kilos lighter with a sad emoji.

Can anything else be blue toothed between your phones?
Probably no one knows so I think I'd say to her in case other stuff is crossing over.

KeepNameChanging81 · 30/09/2023 06:53

Fatter, shorter and we must know they are very generous too getting her presents.

Slight superiority complex there OP?!

Yup!

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 30/09/2023 06:57

Get rid of the scales and that solves a lot of problems! Never understood the obsession with weigh-ins.

CiderJolly · 30/09/2023 06:59

So basically your cleaner is fatter than you, you are really generous to your lowly cleaner as you pay above min wage and give her a box of Maltesers for birthdays and Christmas, you are truly saint-like. 😂

Who cares if she uses the scales, think most people do when they see some scales don’t they? Don’t embarrass her by pointing out that you know.

Stripeypyjamas · 30/09/2023 07:02

Did she have a massive poo or did she just help you out by showing your scales can be 2lb inaccurate

PenhillDarkMonarch · 30/09/2023 07:05

Yeah - weird additional detail about height and presents etc.

This happened to me. I just dropped note just to let them know - in case they cared - I could see their weight.

This was 15 years ago now mind - these scales have been around a loooong time!

Obviously it bothers you then.

Emanresu9 · 30/09/2023 07:19

If she was taller than you would it change the answers? 😵‍💫 I don’t understand her height or salary having anything to do with what people’s answers would be.
