How much did you spend on your summer holiday? (And where did you go)

Just because I'm curious. We had a week in Europe but stayed with family so no accommodatione whole week came to around just under £1000, including eurotunnel, petrol, theme park tickets, meals out and me stocking up a car boot full of foreign sweets, beauty products, etc.

And then i took the dc camping for 3 nights in the uk which somehow burnt through money - £39 per night just to pitch a tent, plus food, etc. It just felt like a really expensive way to spend 3 days shivering in the rain and not getting any sleep.

A week, well six days in Cornwall, in an apartment which was £1000. Two meals out, so about £150 and we visited some NT places because we’re members.

The weather was poor, the apartment was not worth the money and we came home a day early.

Balearics 10 days 2 adults, 1 dc. 4000euro including spending money. Eating out was a lot more expensive than I had expected. But we can afford it and had a nice time.
Feb midterm 2024 in Canaries will be <2k for 7 days.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 03/09/2023 20:48

7 days in Cornwall. Accommodation was about £800. Spent about £1000.
We've had massive issues with the accommodation so we're being issued a full refund. Very happy with that!

Cornwall is so expensive. It cost me over £8 for 4 cans of coke from a beach stall today. I almost died!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/09/2023 20:49

£3,000 Isles of Scilly for one week. Self catering.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 03/09/2023 20:49

A festival. Tickets were £270 for 3 of us.
We spent about £200 on food while we were there.

BareGrylls · 03/09/2023 20:51

February one week in Canaries £2800 for two of us.
Two weekends in UK at £1500 each (this included accommodation big enough for adult DC and their partners).
September going to Majorca £2500 plus spending money.

e went to North Devon for a week in a static van with two under two and my other dd came with her b/f for the last 3 days

it was £359 for the van and we spent £500 for food and drink for all of us, eat out most evenings, coffee and cakes and lunch out etc

StillWantingADog · 03/09/2023 20:52

2 adults 2 kids.

Spent about £800 on four nights in an Airbnb in Northumberland, plus probably £400ish spends, and that was only for four nights. We had a nice time but it wasn’t worth that much IMO.

plus over £1500 (daren’t count) on a four day trip to Billund, Denmark. Legoland etc That was better value tbh, it was brilliant.

DavinaTheDreadful · 03/09/2023 20:53

£2000 for everything including spending money. Bit it was only over the water to NI. Flights were £££ for 4 people though. It isn't as cheap as it used to be.

Probably going to stay on mainland UK next year so we don't have the extra expense of the flights/boat. Or will pay about the same but for somewhere a bit sunnier (I am from NI so I'm allowed to say that 😉)

Ibizafun · 03/09/2023 20:54

15k on an 11 day cruise for dh and I, friends on same cruise

Drews · 03/09/2023 20:57

2 Nights campsite in shropshire. About £100 including fuel and food.

Jorvik1978 · 03/09/2023 20:57

3 weeks around North Germany, Denmark and Sweden in our campervan. Probably around £1500 all in but that doesn't take into account the MOT, tax, insurance or upkeep of the van. We use it a fair bit though so spread over the year it's not too bad.

thecatinthetwat · 03/09/2023 20:58

350 on Lego land Windsor, 2 days in the park plus overnight in the Lego hotel. It’s all we could afford, but it was really great!

RudsyFarmer · 03/09/2023 20:58

A week in England in a self catering cottage. £1000 or just over.

HuntingoftheSnark · 03/09/2023 20:58

Eight nights in Crete in June, half board. Two adults, £654 each which included transfers, luggage etc. Had a brilliant time and additional spending was minimal.

euff · 03/09/2023 21:04

Approx £1200 for 7 nights in a 2 bed caravan in Cornwall for 2 adults and 2 kids. I told myself this was good for Cornwall until I saw the earlier posts! Spent a fair bit eating at least one meal out everyday though they were nothing special.

Darthwazette · 03/09/2023 21:05

£3500 for a week HB in Menorca for 2A 3C.

in December I’m spending £9500 for 3 nights in Lapland 😱

Amwondering69 · 03/09/2023 21:06

Am in Mallorca in my happy place, amazing view from patio and sound of the sea !I paid for 3adults and child for 7 nights am now having extra 2nights to chill on my own. Overall about £5000 Inc flights but I can thank my NHS pension for helping towards the cost .Three generations have had a lovely time. 😍

ehb102 · 03/09/2023 21:06

A three bedroom house in Suffolk cost us £1600. It was a very nice house but it cost us £800 four years ago. It was self catering so the cost was actually more. We could have gone abroad for that.

Bemyclementine · 03/09/2023 21:09

£137 for 5 nights camping in North Norfolk. About £100 sending there. £40 on foid taken with us. Me and 2 DC.

Weather was AMAZING.

chatenoire · 03/09/2023 21:09

About £7k on a 13 day trip to Europe. We stayed at eurocamps, 2 adults, 4 children. Total rip off and wouldn't do it again

Accismus · 03/09/2023 21:09

Oh wow, enjoy your 2 days of tranquility after the family holiday - this is a genius idea for when my dc eventually grow up (assuming they'll still want to holiday with us)
