How much did you spend on your summer holiday? (And where did you go)

Just because I'm curious. We had a week in Europe but stayed with family so no accommodatione whole week came to around just under £1000, including eurotunnel, petrol, theme park tickets, meals out and me stocking up a car boot full of foreign sweets, beauty products, etc.

And then i took the dc camping for 3 nights in the uk which somehow burnt through money - £39 per night just to pitch a tent, plus food, etc. It just felt like a really expensive way to spend 3 days shivering in the rain and not getting any sleep.

6k euro, Greece AI in a 4* hotel. 2 adults 2 children, 14 nights. Was amazing but looked at prices for next year and it's gone up by 1k! Not sure we'd be willing to spend an additional grand on it.

ilovebagpuss · 03/09/2023 21:49

£800 2 adults and 2 teens in London for 2 nights August.
Hotel, food and treats for teens in various shops.
Saving for next years hols.
Last year we did 2 weeks in Spain 3 locations for 4 for around 2.5k

TheAloe · 03/09/2023 21:54

We spent 4K. Next year we are going nowhere and I can’t fucking wait 🙌.

mondaycando1 · 03/09/2023 21:56

Total summer hols holiday spend £2,969 for me and 2 DC - £366 camping for 4 nights in the New Forest with friends, £1,222 Spain for 10 nights visiting family so main part of that was transport and £1,381 for 4 nights in Centerparcs with family, these figures are all in door to door so ice creams and everything. Only £1,100 over my entire annual holiday budget but CP was booked before divorce, next year is going to be very different. The next 3 months are going to be very tight financially to pay credit card off.

Around £5/6000.. About £2.5k on a 4 bed 5 bath house for a week in Aberdeenshire. About £1.5k spent on shopping and trips, and £250 to fuel 3x diesel cars to get there, back and in between. Probably a further £1.5k spent by everyone during the holiday. It was worth it to have my parents, us, our adult children and DIL, and a nephew away together. I love that the children will still come away and enjoy each others, and our company.

Safe to say we have booked butlins for next year £1500 with a dining plan for all 6 of us as this years wasn't to plan.

ThreeRingCircus · 03/09/2023 22:07

£800 total cost for three nights in Edinburgh (2 adults and 2 children.) Including eating out, entertainment etc.

We can't afford to go abroad every year so we alternate with one foreign holiday every two years and one UK city break or cheap camping trip in the other year.

jenny38 · 03/09/2023 22:08

5 days camping by the river in the UK. About £450 including eating out and wine
3 days camping by the sea in the UK. About £100.
Brilliant weather both times.

countdowntonap · 03/09/2023 22:13

Some people have listed summer, and some spring/summer… so spring/summer for us with all breaks and spending money included: £14000-£16000? Would need time to work out actually intricacies e.g. car hire.
A great summer of holidays and worth every penny.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 03/09/2023 22:13

£6.5k for 3 weeks in Egypt 5 star all Inclusive.

Ambi · 03/09/2023 22:13

4 nights in a stone cottage near historic market towns on N Yorks/ County Durham border. Absolutely loved it, the pretty little cafes, shops and market stalls, we didn't have to kennel our puppy, visited some Norman castles. The cottage was £530 and we spent £200 in food and spends.

TheLongGloriesOfTheWinterMoon · 03/09/2023 22:13

A week in the Austrian Tyrol. Half board (and amazing food with a 4 course dinner every night) for £1200 for DD and I. Not including flights which were about £150 in total. Took £200 in cash but didn't spend it all as the food was so good and plentiful we only really ate cake or ice-cream during the day.

cocksstrideintheevening · 03/09/2023 22:14

6.6k two weeks, Balearics. Spent 2.5 there.

olivehaters · 03/09/2023 22:14

Approx 8k all in. 2 weeks in france. One in a euro camp chalet, one in a cottage with a small pool.

Tarantella6 · 03/09/2023 22:15

£2k ish camping in France, went on the tunnel. We usually spend more on days out / eating out but the campsite had such good waterslides the kids didn't want to go anywhere!
