I could actually cry with flight issue

Our flight was cancelled yesterday morning, the only way we could get to our destinations was to book a flight with a 1 hour stopover in Munich then onto Alicante. Well I've just checked the flight to Munich and it is now delayed by almost 3 hours 😩😩
wtf happens regarding our other flight ??

I'm so stressed out, just trying to get us and very upset kids on our holiday, they were heartbroken yesterday

Honestly I wouldn't bother and I'd just go home. The thought of being trapped as part of this shit show just isn't worth it.

You will be rerouted. We were barely delayed a few weeks back but many fellow passengers missed their connecting flights. Stewards on the plane came round to reassure them and tell them what to do.

If it was just me and dh I would but I can't not at least try for the kids I can't see them so disappointed.
Plus we've forked out £££ for these flights

I've looked and no other flights seem to have such a long delay not sure why it's ours again !!

oh don't be ridiculous. OP, just get on whatever flight they tell you - it is their responsibility to sort you out and get your connecting flight. You might miss one day of your holiday getting sorted but surely not worth jacking the whole thing in??

Yeah I can't even see one on the boards.
Don't know etc to do I can't believe this shit is happening again after we've already had a flight cancelled

You either make the decision to go and recognise it'll be a bit trickier, but your'll get there. Or you don't. Your choice. Crying? Worrying about it is a wasted emotion.

I do sympathise, OP, I find it stressful as well, and the initial outlay can be costly and the statutory compensation is a desultory amount.

I was taking my mum away for a special treat earlier in the year and I got a notice of flight cancellation at 10pm the night before - I'd literally just put my bikini in my case and was about to go to bed. Perhaps better to know then than turning up at the airport the next day but it was still awful. Couldn't get through to anyone at the airline, all other flights full and there was no other way to get there. We managed to get a late booking to somewhere in the UK, and had a nice time, even though the weather was unseasonally cold and rubbish! Where we were trying to go it was much better.

We were also very lucky that the hotel we'd originally booked did not charge us for the room as they would have been able to with such a late cancellation. The statutory compensation wouldn't have covered it.

We're just going to go to the support and try. The flight is delayed by 1.50 mins. It means that we'll be arriving an hour later than the flight from Munich to Alicante. What happens in this situation? Would they hold the flight ?

Usually they wont hold the flight, they will rebook you on a later flight. It's not optimal but it is very common. Which airline are you flying with?

They won’t hold the flight. They’ll put you on the next available one.

Lufthansa through germany means there will be plenty of support infrastructure and alternative flights. Try not to worry too much. Lufthansa will sort this for you

I know it's hard but try to show your kids how to handle this situation. I understand being upset and frustrated but you have to deal with these thing at times, your kids will be ok.

Since you have access to the internet, go on Google Flights as well as the Lufthansa website and you will find out when the next flight from Munich to Alicante is in 2 mins.

They will not hold the flight. They will rebook you as it’s the same airline.

It may be new to you but it’s common sense they won’t hold a flight full of people who made it on time for a few random passengers.
They will just rebook your on the next flight that’s available with space as it’s their job to get you all the way there as they delayed the first flight.
