I could actually cry with flight issue

Our flight was cancelled yesterday morning, the only way we could get to our destinations was to book a flight with a 1 hour stopover in Munich then onto Alicante. Well I've just checked the flight to Munich and it is now delayed by almost 3 hours 😩😩
wtf happens regarding our other flight ??

I'm so stressed out, just trying to get us and very upset kids on our holiday, they were heartbroken yesterday

Again troll hunters, read the other threads if you're that bored

It’s not troll hunting. It’s people getting legitimately frustrated when someone posts and fudge details that actually make the situation quite different. The advice I would give based on your drip feed is entirely different from the advice I would give based on your original post. That’s why it’s frustrating.

NewLifeHappyLife · 30/08/2023 08:43

yeah.. strange how parents with autistic children want to treat them to a holiday on occasion.

FFS wind your head in and don't say such offensive things.

That was clearly to @JenWillsiam who is being quite offensive now.

Wow, you’re batshit!

Yeah, I agree. My username says it all!

I think the points about how you choose to navigate this having an impact on how your kids deal with this now and in the future (including as adults, judging by this thread) are really important.

I'm not from the UK so we've always travelled a fair bit and had our share of problems/disruptions/delays/bookings gone wrong/whatever. And I've had jobs where the travel was actually sometimes hazardous which has helped to bring perspective.

These things are annoying but as a PP said are rarely anything more than annoying, tiring, frustrating and boring. And how we deal with those things is a choice.

It is relevant.

My ten and eight year old would be gutted if a holiday was cancelled. They’re also old enough to understand - we can try this but it might mot happen / it’s going to be miserable / here’s an iPad etc.

A toddler and baby are not old enough to be upset about a holiday unless you as a parent are behaving dramatically. They’re also too young to navigate disastrous travel.

One scenario is reasonable. The other is ridiculous.

What toddlers do you know that wouldn’t be upset about their holiday being cancelled. My dd is very much aware of holidays and other events she enjoys and would be very upset if one was cancelled, she goes on about them for ages before hand.

Do not twist what I said. No one is suggesting parents shouldn’t take autistic children anywhere. The fact that you even thought that is where I was going says more about you than me.

@CeeceeBloomingdale 7 flights with reasonable stop overs from Munich to Alicante today most of which are on time and available to buy. Also 13 tomorrow.

Toddlers can barely remember what they ate for lunch. If you don’t mention it they won’t. It’s very easy to navigate.

DiscoBeat · 30/08/2023 08:51

Just read you’re pregnant. Sorry I think you are actually being irresponsible.

What?? How?

All Lufthansa?

TheaBrandt · 30/08/2023 07:25

Have you ever experienced serious flight disruption m? Clearly not. It’s one thing getting caught up quite another to voluntarily take young children while pregnant into this situation.

Are you quite alright? Fucking hell. 😂

DiscoBeat · 30/08/2023 08:54

I think OP got a bit carried away with the how upset the DC were as one appears to be a babe in arms.

Do shut up and read the thread.

Again, what toddler do you know how are like this? Mine and the others I know absolutely do remember what they ate for lunch and are very much aware of the events they are going to. They will mention things like holidays and other things like birthday parties or days out they are going to without others mentioning them. They are clever though, maybe some others aren’t so aware of what’s going on at this age.

Reallybadidea · 30/08/2023 08:55

The advice the OP asked for was:

wtf happens regarding our other flight ??

The number, age and age of her kids and whether they're ND or not is irrelevant to the advice she asked for.

You've chosen to give a bunch of unasked for advice about whether the OP should go or not. That's on you.

Literally all toddlers. This would not be difficult to navigate. Again.

All Lufthansa?

They won't need to be to be available to Lufthansa for rerouting.

Igneococcus · 30/08/2023 08:58

All Lufthansa?

Don't have to be all Lufthansa, they use any available StaAlliance flight.

JenWillsiam · 30/08/2023 08:58

JassyRadlett · 30/08/2023 08:56

Airlines are obligated to put you on the next available flight from their airline. That’s key. They aren’t required to put you on a BA flight.

Not LH flights or flights they necessarily have a ticketing agreement with, I know some of those definitely aren’t. I would want rebooking on a feasible connection rather than heading into the abyss.
