I could actually cry with flight issue

Our flight was cancelled yesterday morning, the only way we could get to our destinations was to book a flight with a 1 hour stopover in Munich then onto Alicante. Well I've just checked the flight to Munich and it is now delayed by almost 3 hours 😩😩
wtf happens regarding our other flight ??

I'm so stressed out, just trying to get us and very upset kids on our holiday, they were heartbroken yesterday

Grow up. The OP wanted to protect her anonymity so fudged some details.

Oh look, it's an illustration of @itsgettingweird's point has helpfully rocked up.

Deal with suspected trolls by reporting them, not by bignoting yourself by pissing all over the thread.

Oh give over with the pious comment. OP is hardly committing a crime fudging a few details in what is clearly a stressful situation.

Good luck OP! Safe travels.

I can't believe a couple of fudged comments and typos have caused some posters to get their knickers in such a twist ! Btw I'm posting because we're waiting for check on to open, if that's okay with the troll hunters

Name changing does not make you less wrong or less of a troll. Which bit of posters fudging details all the time to avoid being identified IRL are you not getting?

Just been told by a lady at the Swiss port help desk that they do hold flights if there is alot of people on the plane due to go on the connecting one. So it just depends

Swissport are a handling agent and will say anything to get rid of you, they won't have a clue. I've worked for an airline for 25 years and I promise you this does not usually happen, it is extremely rare. If you are going to misconnect don't fly to Munich, get them to reroute you now from the UK airport.

sleepyscientist · 30/08/2023 08:27

@CeeceeBloomingdale that would normally be good advice but have you seen the state of UK airports (we need to give our heads a wobble after this is shorted and come up with a better plan!) much better to be in Europe and look for a reroute right now!

It is relevant.

My ten and eight year old would be gutted if a holiday was cancelled. They’re also old enough to understand - we can try this but it might mot happen / it’s going to be miserable / here’s an iPad etc.

A toddler and baby are not old enough to be upset about a holiday unless you as a parent are behaving dramatically. They’re also too young to navigate disastrous travel.

One scenario is reasonable. The other is ridiculous.

Igneococcus · 30/08/2023 08:27

I've been on flights that waited for delayed passengers but they were all longhaul flights which often have a bit more leeway in their timing anyway. UA waited in Newark for me and two other passengers coming from Montreal and we made it into Glasgow ahead of schedule.

huggiess · 30/08/2023 08:29

Who said my other dc was a toddler ? They are nearly 10 and autistic. So yeah they would've been massively upset, had a huge meltdown like they did yesterday when they found out our originally flight was cancelled. So you lot troll hunting can do one, I was finding it funny but now I'm just pissed off. If I said what I really thought about you lot I'd be banned

Again troll hunters, read the other threads if you're that bored

Iliketulips · 30/08/2023 08:31

When you check in, I'd check the situation with the airline. They'll be able to let you know what they usually do/anticipate will happen in your scenario. If they can't guarantee they'll get you there within a reasonable amount of time, then I'd ask if they can cancel my seats and get my money back.

PoshPineapple · 30/08/2023 08:31

MidnightOnceMore · 30/08/2023 06:12

I know it's hard but try to show your kids how to handle this situation. I understand being upset and frustrated but you have to deal with these thing at times, your kids will be ok.

This is a really good point. Kids learn how to react to circumstances by the way their adults handle such issues. Try and stay calm and in control to show them that such things happen and whilst it's upsetting, it's not the end of the world for you or them. Happy holidays when you get there!

Have you thought about productive hobbies to fill the empty hole in your life that makes troll hunting feel enjoyable?

Zanatdy · 30/08/2023 08:34

Hope you get it sorted. I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with some posters being so nasty to people who are asking for help in upsetting circumstances. And yes people can be upset for missing a holiday, adults and children.

  1. You aren't allowed to troll hunt.
  2. She didn't say she had a toddler.
  3. Most toddlers would know they were going on holiday and be upset if they weren't going. Perhaps the ones you know aren't bright.
  4. It's not disastrous travel. The flight is delayed an hour and fifty minutes. If she doesn't get on in the UK she can come home. They're are no disasters in Munich.
Whataretheodds · 30/08/2023 08:36

huggiess · 30/08/2023 05:39

We're just going to go to the support and try. The flight is delayed by 1.50 mins. It means that we'll be arriving an hour later than the flight from Munich to Alicante. What happens in this situation? Would they hold the flight ?

No, they'll rebook you on a later flight. If that looks like it might be the following day then prepare yourself for a night in an airport Hotel. Think about how you might treat it as something fun rather than a chore.

Erm yes, funnily enough as airline staff I am fully aware. Planes and crew are out of rotation and that also includes not UK airlines who fly to the UK or through UK airspace. I stand by my advice.

How is being stuck briefly in a modern European airport, remotely disastrous? 😳

Jeez, some of you on this thread shouldn’t be left in charge of a kettle if you can’t cope with a few hiccups whilst travelling. Although, I think “travelling” for these posters means relying on someone else to do all the legwork for you and hold your hand at every step.

Try flying on a rickety small plane in Nepal or a stopover in a country in the middle of a civil war. That’s a little bit more hair raising, but still not remotely disastrous.

Perhaps refresh your comprehension skills...?

The main thing in the OP was them requesting advice on what to do regarding likely missing their flight connection.

All the troll hunters are just digging themselves a deeper hole...

It makes no difference to the fact that OP wanted advice on connecting flights!
