A bin. And grit salt. This is the mundanity of my purchases now. And don’t get too excited, but a pizza cutter is also being delivered imminently.

what mundane purchases have you bought recently? Tell me I’m not the only one buying bins.

I need this in my life.

If you have kids (or not tbf!) pipe cleaners from craft sets works perfectly for this.

Ihateslugs · 25/08/2023 07:13

My latest online purchase was a eye mask so that I can sleep with the light on. I keep the light on in the hope that it will stop the nightly invasion of slugs in my bungalow bedroom!

It wasn’t cheap but DH told me last night our new kitchen bin makes him happy. It makes me happy too. Its so easy to change the bags and clean the inner buckets, not that I’ve needed to. The bottom section rolls out on casters. Currently 20% on the Joseph Joseph site. There’s a white and a metal option for naughty whippets.

We have the same bin, and it is one of my favourite things 😂 it sits neatly in the chaotic kitchen corner and is light enough to move if needed.

I dithered about it as it was pricey (I got it in a sale but still) but I have it 2.5 years and it looks good as new.

I don't buy any of the branded binbags. Supermarket swing liners fit fine.

The other thing I love is our Shower Gem. No more bottles on floor of shower and no more crappy holders either rusting or falling off walls. Again, pricey, but won't need replacing.

Robert Dyas is my favourite shop; I always think that there will be something in there to improve my life…
This thread is like a chatty version!

Can only claim to have received a 4 pack of screw in water filters for under my sink this week, but need a recycling bin.

That Joseph Joseph bin was great. Until I saw the price 😱

I’ve just bought some new under counter strip lights
@Ineedwinenow Where did you get these from please?

Oldraver · 25/08/2023 07:37

I had one bought me for Christmas a few years ago ( I did really want one)

OH bought it through his work and they all thought I would kill him 🤣

Just make sure you fill it up now before the rush to buy salt

I bought the tiniest brush that fits into the hole at the bottom of the fridge and unblocks it. It's a thing of wonder.

Oh my I've been using ear buds for years and have just realised I have a tiny brush for the cat fountain I could if used

Tereseta · 25/08/2023 07:39

I just bought a little food chopper powered by a drawstring. Even better found it on a charity stall for £1.50 brand new! Made my day!

rileynexttime · 25/08/2023 07:43

@Missingthegore where did you get your ziploc bag holders for ladling food into bags for freezing?

I don't know what kind the poster has (hoping for a link) but I gave up on the ones I had as it got hard find the strip lights

A few years ago I got some of those lights that are are (only way to describe) are on a long strip of tape that is self adhesive

We have some round the TV's and a couple in wardrobes. You can get them motion sensors and with 3 pin or usb plugs

A child's plastic step stool, cause I'm short (5") and have a bad leg, so I need it to get in and out of our bath.

Genius.

I'm about to have issues after an operation that will mean I too need some kind of aid like this. I'd not thought of such a simple solution.
Thank you.

rileynexttime · 25/08/2023 07:49

@Oldraver have you a link?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 25/08/2023 07:51

A builders sack of hardwood high heat logs for winter. Cost £200 but will save us using the heating during winter this year as can use wood burner. They arrived yesterday and much better than where we got them last year.

I’ve just bought some new under counter strip lights as our others had all blown and we couldn’t be arsed/forgot to buy them but finally after the last flicker of light on the last one we bought new! Exciting stuff, I’ll be able to see using those lights again and not use the big light , woohoo!! Great boring thread! Grin

I need these!

rileynexttime · 25/08/2023 07:56

Oh, like these?

frustratednomad · 25/08/2023 07:09

@RomComPhooey 5 litres of white vinegar, cup of salt, 1tbsp washing up liquid, mix together and spray on weeds. I also have cats so needed a safe weedkiller and it works brilliantly.

<makes notes>

CarrieMoonbeams · 25/08/2023 08:05

I bought big pants 😔. We're going to our friends' house today, they are both chefs, so let's see how good this Lycra is 🤔

On the back of this thread though, I have started making a list of the things that I need to have in my life!

meisafairy · 25/08/2023 08:05

A wall bracket so I can attach a radiator cover to the wall so it won’t topple over, oh and plasterboard fixings.

Oldraver · 25/08/2023 08:06

I'm sorry I can't figure a link on my phone but they are like this, white available as wel

I'd forgot you can have a remote as well. If you search LED strip light on Amazon

I'll try and sort a link on the laptop when I get up

Oldraver · 25/08/2023 08:06

A set of 4 ziploc bag holders for ladleing food into bags for freezing. Game changer. No more juggling the bag, wrapping it over a jug etc.

Looks pretty, but I'm not sure it beats my large yoghurt tub with the bottom cut off. Just insert tub into bag mouth and stand the whole thing up.

If you get it right, the tub protects the zip from filling up with gunk, too.

tapdancingmum · 25/08/2023 08:07

I've just had my delivery from amazon, and it consisted of a new closed dustpan and brush. It's great as you can scoop into it and it has a great lip that doesn't let the crap just slide underneath it like traditional dustpans 😀.

I have also treated us to a new kitchen caddy bin for the food waster as the one we got given by the council hundreds of years ago is minging! The only problem is the lid doesn't fit properly and leaves a gap all around. Not a good idea when you need it closed to keep the flies out but I reported it and they are sending me a new one. I then had to hoik the old one out of the plastics bin until I get the new one but they have said keep the old one so I will find a use for it in the shed.

Just looking to see if I need a grit bin 🤔

I need these!

They are great, you obviously need a sparky to link then all up but under counter lights are so much better than the main light we have! Once they blow you just unplug the connector thingy and plug in the new ones! They are so easy to change! They also have four shades of white light to choose from, we keep them on cool white but there is a warm white, white, off white and cool!

I genuinely can’t believe im discussing under counter lights! When did my life get so exciting 😆
