I've just been listening to Spotify at work in the office and the new song "0800 Heaven" has come on and I'm sat blinking away the tears...not really sure why.

The song "The Christmas Shoes" ALWAYS makes me cry (lyrics).

What songs give you that unintentiomal teary feeling?

Also to perk the thred up a bit, what song if you listen to it, just gives you a really happy feeling?

Cry:
slipping through my fingers - Abba (I don’t even have kids)
I will follow you into the dark - death cab for cutie
The best day - Taylor Swift

Happy:
September - Earth wind and fire
Got to be real - Cheryl Lynn
Most other Abba songs!

I Hope There's Someone - Antony and the Johnsons

Someone Somewhere - Kenny Rogers

A Case Of You - Jonie Mitchell

Walking Her Home- Mark Schultz (I'm not religious, it's just a good song).

Every time

Songs that make me happy just now

Good Tradition - Tanita Tikaram

Mountain - Sam Ryder

Shackles - Mary Mary

Thinking About Your Love - Kenny Thomas

It will probably be totally different tomorrow when I have a different Spotify playlist on 🤣

and the band played waltzing matilda performed by the Pogues..I always cry when I listen to it

WetBandits · 04/07/2023 11:34

Oh god, loads! The first ones I can think of are:

• Nutshell - Alice in Chains

• Slipped Away - Avril Lavigne
• Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World
• I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie
• Day Is Gone - Noah Gunderson

Also pretty much anything by The Chicks, especially these ones:

• Top of the World (I can’t make it though the whole song!)
• Godspeed
• Travelling Soldier

I saw the title and literally thought of that heaven song too! It really makes me sad as makes me think of my dad. 😥. Other than that fields of gold!

Capitulatingpanda · 04/07/2023 12:03

The Highwomen- Highwomen, never fails to make me cry.
George Strait- I got a car, the end bit where she's in labour, it started making me cry when I was pregnant and for some reason still does.

Strawberrypicnic · 04/07/2023 12:05

Frank Ocean's version of Moon River.

By Your Side by Sade.

I have a cold, black heart most of the time, but this song...🥺

Whataboutno · 04/07/2023 12:16

Empty by The Cranberries, a lot of The Cranberries songs make me cry. Her voice was so beautiful.

Happy - Night Fever Bee Gees

MadisonAvenue · 04/07/2023 12:18

Polaroid Picture - Frank Turner
This verse particularly gets to me
“Let go of the little distractions
Hold close to the ones that you love
Because we won't all be here this time next year
So while you can take a picture of us”

Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
Run - Snow Patrol
Do You Believe In Shame - Duran Duran

Ibloodymissgluten · 04/07/2023 12:18

Time after time by Cindy Lauper.

I can’t listen to it.

schloss · 04/07/2023 12:21

Sunshine on Leith - The Proclaimers

Also other songs, which not sad in themselves, bring back certain memories and normally a few tears.

Wiccan · 04/07/2023 12:24

Have you ever been in love . Leo sayer
This used to be my playground. Madonna
😭

cdefghijkl · 04/07/2023 12:25

She’s like the wind, reminds me of sitting in a distant relative’s car 24 hours after being told I’d lost a second relative (just days after the first one), remember sitting in an absolute daze being driven back to my own house at 7am. It‘s been on a TV advert for a long time and every time I heard the advert to start with I teared up again.

Amdone123 · 04/07/2023 12:26

Another one for Time After Time.

When A Child Is Born - Johny Mathis ( can get a bit embarrassing when doing one's Christmas shopping).
In The Ghetto - Elvis.
Both have me crying like a newborn.

MoonsHaunted · 04/07/2023 12:27

Bright Eyes - just the opening notes ha me going. Makes me think of my old dog when she had to be PTS.

Bright eyes, burning like fire. Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How could a light that burned so brightly suddenly burn so pale?

Ah fuck my mascara

cdefghijkl · 04/07/2023 12:27

At Christmas time, o come all ye faithful, particularly the last couple of verses with descant - reminds me of being much younger and going to mass on Christmas mornings with my mum, grandparents and great grandmother, all now not here.

DiscoStusMoonboots · 04/07/2023 12:30

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper.

Was always one of mine and my dad's favourite songs, so much so that we played it as the exit music to his funeral.

The tears are always 50% sad, 50% happy which is a strange emotion I'd never felt before.

travelingtortoise · 04/07/2023 12:30

Stevie Nicks, Landslide. 100% reliable to set off the waterworks.

AnnieRich · 04/07/2023 12:31

Who Knows Where The Time Goes- Sandy Denny
Sand and Water - Beth Nielsen Chapman
Boulder to Birmingham- Emmylou Harris

TheaBrandt · 04/07/2023 12:32

“Soon you’ll get better” Taylor Swift about her mum. When she sings simply “soon you’ll get better because you have to” gets me every time.

Ilikewinter · 04/07/2023 12:32

Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran. End up a blubering mess everythime 😥
