I used to know a woman called Zebedee. It actually really suited her.

BonnieGlasses · 03/07/2023 17:56

Afriqnmun. It's hippie-speak for "African moon", apparently.

massiveclamps · 03/07/2023 17:58

I used to know someone called Ringo.

No, not that one!

Gatekeeper · 03/07/2023 17:58

Bratton...he was a shepherd from west coast of Scotland and all man!

erikbloodaxe · 03/07/2023 18:00

@Gatekeeper that's a very, very strong masculine name. Sounds like the romantic interest in a fluffy novel.

Elodie. Hadn't heard it before. This was years ago, so it may be more popular now, I just haven't heard it since.

A woman? Zebedee in the bible is the father of the disciples James and John.

PurBal · 03/07/2023 18:05

Cosmo and Mayme, neither really out there just not in use much these days.

Kam610 · 03/07/2023 18:05

Worked with a girl called Phoenix. It suits her though.

My daughter is an Élodie. It’s a name I heard through studying French and living in France. Hadn’t met any in the UK before naming her, but have now heard of others so think it’s growing in popularity.

ReadtheReviews · 03/07/2023 18:06

A boy from Thailand called Fanta.
Valeria to rhyme with malaria.
I met a baby Tippi on a station which I liked.

Yes. She said her parents were hippies rather than religious so they just wanted to give her an unusual name. I would have assumed a man from the name alone as well.

An old neighbour’s daughter is called whisper, she’ll be 10 or 11 now and ironically was the loudest child I’ve ever met. 😂

mamaduckbone · 03/07/2023 18:15

Taliesan (boy) and Yseult (girl), pronounced I-sult. Both very old English names.
