Consequences of 19 year old with a 49 year old?

Do you think that a 19 year old girl seeing a 49 year old man would have lasting negative consequences? Do you think it would be likely to affect the 19 yo even if she doesn't realise it? Is a 49 year old in this situation always in the wrong/a bad guy?

That's absolutely horrible and I can guarantee there's some level of abuse there. I was in a relationship with a guy 10 years older than me when I was 17, and that age difference was bad enough.

Quite frankly I can't see why there would be any attraction between a 19 year old and a 50 year old...

Op if you are one of the two people you're referring too, don't do it.
If you're the 19 year old - nothing good will come from this 'relationship'
If you're the 50 year old - don't put a young girl in that situation. Find someone more your own age and leave her alone

When I see little Charlie learning to ride a bike, then doing their nativity play, then getting a thank you card for Lego at Christmas, then giving them £100 to spend on their 18th birthday.

With the family dynamics as well, this has ‘recipe for disaster’ written all over it. If you are (as I suspect) the 19 year old, please don’t go there- he’s a perv and you’ll cringe hard for the rest of your life whenever you think about it.

I am 49, and my DS1 is 17. The thought of being in a relationship with someone only 2 years older than him creeps me right out - they would be a child.

He never knew the girl beforehand. He only met her at 19! He isn't very close to the family. He used to be when the parents and grandparents were younger but was never close enough to send birthday cards and come round to the house for tea etc. More like they all used to hang out as friends when they were younger, then as they all started having children etc they keep in touch via FB and will have a drink together every now and again but that's it

OP, if this is a family friend then consider the reasonable assumption that this man has watched this 19 year old grow up. When you have friends with kids, your perception of them moves much more slowly than the rate at which they age. For example, I have to remind myself that my friend’s 15 year old isn’t still 10 and when he was 10 I had to remind myself that he wasn’t still 6, etc. You view them as your friends kids, not as independent beings for you to hang out with much less shag. Age gap aside, I think this is the scenario that makes this relationship questionable. Why does he feel attracted to someone he has watched grow up?

'A family friend' - so the 49 is probably one of the dads mates and could well be even older than him.

This is nothing else than a power trip and the 19 year old is going along with it because she probably feels special.

None of that matters. She's 19 she's got her whole life ahead of her
She shouldn't have to take care of someone 30 years older than her
What about when she wants kids
What happens when the 49 year old starts getting real old / health problems
Why would someone of 49 want to have a relationship with someone who may not have any previous sexual / relationships

It's very weird. It's very gross.

There is something seriously mentally wrong with a 49 year old who sees a relationship with a 19 year old as a good idea.

And if it isn't a relationship they're after, just fucking the daughter/granddaughter of their friends, then they might as well shit through their letterbox while they're at it. Same level of disrespect.
