I thought most people had a 'treat' every day

I always have a piece of cake/few biscuits etc with a cuppa when I get home from work. I thought most people did it. But my running partner says she never eats sweet food as she never fancies it. Her treat would be a handful of nuts! We always have biscuits etc at work as well. Does anyone else rarely have a sweet treat? I don't think I could survive without it

I rarely do. But I don't have a sweet tooth anyway. I am in my 50s and I don't want diabetes by the time I am 55. I have nuts and fruit for snacks. Cake maybe once or twice a month if I am out walking a lot.

MsRinky · 19/06/2023 20:07

Something that happens every day is a habit, not a treat. And no, if I ate cake or biscuits every day I would be even fatter than I am despite all the organic vegetables and the exercise. But maybe you aren't one of those people whose metaboism hates you, lucky you.

Georgig · 19/06/2023 20:08

For me, very rarely....I just don't have a sweet tooth! (My biggest downfall is cheese and carbs!)

Withnailandeye · 19/06/2023 20:08

I couldn’t have a treat every day and maintain my weight so for me, no. I’m not arsed about cake of sweet things but I will treat myself to something, usually cheese based, once/twice a week.

Leo227 · 19/06/2023 20:08

biscuits are a treat maybe every couple of weeks for me, even a treat every week would quickly make me gain weight.

midnights0 · 19/06/2023 20:09

I do! Can't help myself. Need to cut it out tho 🙈

DoughnutDreams · 19/06/2023 20:10

Are organic vegetables less fattening than non-organic ones?

A wee bit of cake as part of a balanced diet will do no harm.

Youknowaboutthepaint · 19/06/2023 20:10

It's not really a treat if you have it every day. That's not what treat means 😆

I very rarely eat anything sugary, mainly because I can't stop once I start and because the resultant slump makes me moody. I eat good food that I enjoy everyday but not cake and biscuits.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 19/06/2023 20:10

No, once or twice a week

MissionImpossible3 · 19/06/2023 20:10

I’ve cut out sweet things and am losing weight and keeping it off. My snacks are fruit and nuts. It takes a while to get motivated but you get there

LaurieFairyCake · 19/06/2023 20:11

I eat cake/chocolate/biscuits/crisps/cheese every day

They comprise less than 10% of my diet so I think that's fine

MillenialAvocado · 19/06/2023 20:12

Don't worry OP, you're not the only one 🙈

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 19/06/2023 20:12

You think biscuits are a treat because you find them yummy.

My treat this week was a box of duck eggs, because I think they are yummy.

fruitpastille · 19/06/2023 20:12

I have a biscuit or two or a bit of chocolate with a cup of tea most days. I don't think it's a treat - just part of a normal balanced diet. Cake is more of a treat and I wouldn't have it every day but partly because I prefer home made so we don't always have it. I could do with losing half a stone but am pretty healthy really.

TinyBarista · 19/06/2023 20:12

Cor these PPs are not my people... Snack time is alive and well in my house. A little bit of what you fancy does you good! As long as you don't go overboard and eat a multipack if Lion bars. Again.

ArbitraryHaddock · 19/06/2023 20:12

I don’t particularly watch my weight or do much to maintain my fitness but I don’t ever crave sweet things. My special treat would be nuts, cheese and crackers or charcuterie. But I’d only have that once a fortnight or so. Very occasionally I buy a frothy coffee when I meet up with friends in town.

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 19/06/2023 20:13

'A treat' is anything you interpret it to be. For you, it's sugary things, for me it would be crisps or something bready. I'm not bothered about cake or biscuits but am in no way depriving myself, I just don't particularly like them.

MotherofGorgons · 19/06/2023 20:13

My treat is Tesco Valencia Ice Lollies. That I have daily:)

EmmaStone · 19/06/2023 20:13

More than once a day for me 😂. I've got a terrible sweet tooth, have weaned myself off added sugar before, but I don't really want to go without cake with friends, or birthdays, ice creams on holiday and chocolate. And there seems to be a 'reason' most days, so 🤷‍♀️. I'm not overweight, and eat pretty well otherwise, so I forgive myself this vice.

cocksstrideintheevening · 19/06/2023 20:13

No. I don't keep baguette and lovely butter in the house because I would eat it all.
Don't have a sweet tooth.

Cuppa makes me want to 🤮

Perry13579 · 19/06/2023 20:13

Agree with OP. I would think nothing of eating a biscuit with a cup of tea, maybe even two if I was hungry. Reading the responses, maybe why this is why I am a curvy size 12.

StaringAtTheWater · 19/06/2023 20:13

I'm with you OP. I eat some chocolate pretty much every day 😳 and illogically still call it a treat!

Justcallmebebes · 19/06/2023 20:14

This is me too. V rarely eat sweets, cakes etc

IVFfirsttimer91 · 19/06/2023 20:14

Not every day, but I don’t not have a biscuit if I feel like it. I maintain my weight and diet isn’t a huge issue for me as my metabolism is quite quick. I do worry about sugar intake though so if I snack I tend to go for savoury things.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 19/06/2023 20:14

Same… I can’t buy a fresh sourdough loaf. The whole thing would be scoffed by me alone in 24 hours
