I thought most people had a 'treat' every day

I always have a piece of cake/few biscuits etc with a cuppa when I get home from work. I thought most people did it. But my running partner says she never eats sweet food as she never fancies it. Her treat would be a handful of nuts! We always have biscuits etc at work as well. Does anyone else rarely have a sweet treat? I don't think I could survive without it

My treat this week was a box of duck eggs, because I think they are yummy.

Only on mumsnet 😂

Literally🙄

NannyGythaOgg · 19/06/2023 20:46

Put cake, sweets, fruit in front of my sister and ask her to pick a treat, she would always choose fruit (so long as not banana that she doesn't like)
I can make myself choose fruit but it certainly wouldn't be instinctive.

Who Knew
People are different

troubg · 19/06/2023 20:46

This is the wrong forum to ask! 😆

I have a treat daily be it a biscuit, crisps etc.

troubg · 19/06/2023 20:47

I don't ration cheese either!

Juiceboxxy · 19/06/2023 20:47

Once a year I have a biscuit and I break it in half so not to overindulge.

This place is batshit. Most people in the real world have some small piece of cake, choc, biscuits each day as part of a balanced diet.

pimplebum · 19/06/2023 20:48

Yes. But that is why I am looking into bariatric surgery

Or they have something else they like better. Like carbs.

Most people in this country only think they have a balanced diet, unfortunately.
Eating UPF every day is not it.

Oh stop!

troubg · 19/06/2023 20:49

And as said, if it's everyday, how's it a treat?

Cause it's not every hour!

Nah. Far rather have crisps or a slice of pizza than cake/chocolate. Why are people so baffled that others have different tastes/indulgences? 🙄

RachelHair · 19/06/2023 20:51

Since giving up both alcohol and smoking, I do usually have a treat in the evening. It's a habit I'm trying to break though, as I'm heavier than I would like to be optimally for my health.

troubg · 19/06/2023 20:51

This is MN. You are in the land where people consider stuff like white bread needless and overindulgent greed. People who dare to eat a kit kat every day should be followed around all the time by the bell ringing shame woman off Game of Thrones.

😆😆

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 19/06/2023 20:51

I am late 50s, have never been overweight and it’s a cold day in hell on the days I don’t have something sweet, usually chocolate in some form. Today it was a 2 finger KitKat after the salad I had for lunch.

troubg · 19/06/2023 20:53

When i'm really want a treat I nibble on some cabbage

LobeliaSackville · 19/06/2023 20:54

I usually have a 'treat'every day, but I don't have a sweet tooth and like salty things so it's typically a packet of ready salted crisps.

YouNeverCanTellWithBees · 19/06/2023 20:55

I have chocolate or a couple of biscuits every day pretty much. I don't drink so it's my alternative to wine.

itsgettingweird · 19/06/2023 20:56

Georgig · 19/06/2023 20:08

For me, very rarely....I just don't have a sweet tooth! (My biggest downfall is cheese and carbs!)

That just about sums me up to 🤣🤣

WimbyAce · 19/06/2023 20:56

I have something sweet every day, just eaten a syrup sponge in a mug actually. However I think I will have to cut back as while in the past I just burnt it off I can see the weight going on now 😫

StaunchMomma · 19/06/2023 20:57

In my case, those kind of habits are a slippery slope towards binge eating. 2 biscuits would become 4, more on a bad day, then I'd probably reach for the crisps or crackers and cheese.

I still eat those things but biscuits only if eg at a friend's house, cake is for birthdays and Xmas only, crisps if eg at a buffet, milk chocolate for birthdays or Easter.

1 have 1 square of dark chocolate every evening.

It might sound like I'm being extreme and denying myself too much, but in reality I feel finally free from a lifetime of bingeing.

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 19/06/2023 20:58

If this was a man based forum, there would be a lot of steak mentioned.

Flickersy · 19/06/2023 20:59

If it's every day it's no more a treat than my breakfast or lunch or dinner.

Eat what you like but be realistic about it.
