Jack Monroe in court today for CCJ stuff?

Don't know if anyone's been following this but Jack Monroe was supposed to be in court today, don't know the latest?

She hasn't fulfilled patreon rewards for years, taken the money though.
Has asked for donation to her private PayPal for presenter triangle, book donations, website repairing and for a libel case that she never filed.

Court was meant to be at 2pm?

I can't help but think that if someone took Nigella, Jamie etc to court for not sending stuff they were supposed too, more media would be interested? Wonder how Jack avoids scrutiny?

She's far less well known though.

Can't imagine there are many who are unaware of Nigella or Jamie (O?). However I'm pretty sure there are loads of people I could mention JM to who'd have never heard of her.

Apparently she hasn't turned up.

I get she's not as famous as Nigella or Jamie etc. But she's been on TV, Question Time last week she's been on This Morning a lot. Had her own TV Show during COVID. Regular articles in papers. Books and appearances at festivals and in parliament etc. and 550k people on twitter follow her.

it mystifies why anyone would give her cash tbh and to then not send out rewards they paid for, she must be raking it in.

She's not "in court" for anything big though, is she? It is just someone who asked for their tenner and now wants a CCJ against her to get it back as she hasn't responded to earlier action. She doesn't even have to be present in court I don't think.

A CCJ was awarded against her, she didn’t pay it, so an application has now been made to establish in court whether she can afford to pay, I assume is the background? The hearing is mainly for her benefit tbh, to give her an opportunity to plead her case if it’s unaffordable for her and for alternative arrangements to be made. Realistically all that will happen is that another hearing will be scheduled or, on the basis that the CCJ was only a few pounds, the court may simply just conclude that her non-appearance is agreement she can afford it and order her to pay it immediately. It’s not really a big deal, regardless of the heavy sounding legal wording.

She’s not on par with Nigella or Jamie. I’d put her on the same sort of public interest level as a former winner of Bake Off or whatever who’s published a couple of books and find a bit of TV work. Also unlikely to attract headlines.

That's exactly what she's done.
Claimed she didn't go because of harassment. Then accused the claimant if harassing her. Then claimed the courts gave her advice.

And her followers are lapping it up.

How can people be so dim?

I mean I think Jack is a vile fraud who has scammed a vast amount of money by spinning a damaging fictional account of poverty... And needs calling out.

But I am not convinced this person has gone about it the right way.

I don’t think many people outside of Twitter, MN and another gossip site even know who JM is.

I know MN treat her like a mega famous cooking superstar who needs her comeuppance. But the average person on the street wouldn’t be be able to point at her in a line up. They’d probably wish her well on creating a new recipe.

Why would the court tell her not to come but then not tell the claimant they've told her not to come and instead wait till 2pm to get an email from Jack to say she's not coming and then tell the claimant to go home? It makes fuckall sense.

There was someone else on Twitter yesterday saying they'd supported Jack on Patreon for a few months, didn't get any of the promised rewards so cancelled and asked for a refund. Didn't get one despite contacting her in multiple ways. Eventually, they tweeted her and got tons of abuse from Jack's supporters, including contacting her employer. The only way anyone could have found their employer was through her real name, which wasn't anywhere on Twitter. It was however on her Patreon account.

Jack DMed her apologising and saying she'd refund. She never did, despite contacting her several times and promising. So the woman just gave up in the end.

I bet there's loads of people shes promised to refund and never has.
