Jack Monroe in court today for CCJ stuff?

KateJohns · 14/06/2023 14:56

Don't know if anyone's been following this but Jack Monroe was supposed to be in court today, don't know the latest?

She hasn't fulfilled patreon rewards for years, taken the money though.
Has asked for donation to her private PayPal for presenter triangle, book donations, website repairing and for a libel case that she never filed.

Court was meant to be at 2pm?

I can't help but think that if someone took Nigella, Jamie etc to court for not sending stuff they were supposed too, more media would be interested? Wonder how Jack avoids scrutiny?

I think she was accepting PayPal donations as well as Patreon. Patreon is a subscription and she promised good and rewards in return for the monthly fee.

CCJ guy cancelled his Patreon after reading the Hattenstone Guardian article. JM did not refund his money - and it has ended up in court.

PayPal was for donations and this is also problematic as JM cannot say where the donations went, or which donations were for what purpose. Donations could have been for crowdfunding legal action (which was also described as pro bono) or for food banks. JM said she ring fenced the money - but how can she know which £ is for what purpose?

If she was trying to solicit donations to a food bank it would have been far simpler to just post a link to the charity of her choice on her Twitter instead of taking donations then failing to disclose what she did with them. Same goes for crowdfunding legal action which she did not take. It would have been very easy to refund if she had done it properly and transparently.

It's just more than a bit disingenuous to solicit Patreon subscriptions, not deliver rewards, admit in a newspaper interview to spending it on luxury goods, then continue to do this.

HatchetJob · 19/06/2023 13:05

She said in that article that she was in process of catching up with patreon rewards. Here we are 6 months later and she still hasn’t done so.
She’s obviously accrued a huge amount from patreon from 2 years + of sending nothing out at all. She could pause it and pay someone to do the work.
If she still has the money of course.

Yet people still defend her and tell her how much good she does; including some minor celebrities like Alice Beer and Jay Rayner.

And they're so pathetically sycophantic about it - which is just what her massive ego needs, of course.

No one's given me an example of this so-called 'good' she does, mind you.

I am quite concerned about exactly where this will end. Not very nice to watch although JM has brought it on herself.

She could end the whole affair right now. It's 1.45pm. if she wanted, she could have it all sorted and ended by 2pm

Pause / Close patreon.
Show exactly how much PayPal money she was given.

But she won't.
And because she won't, I believe the claims of the damage to mental health is nonsense. She's rakes in thousands of pounds of other people's money and shows nothing but disdain for them, not gratitude. Read the Hattenstone article, she's literally laughing at the people that gave her money. At least £160k worth of stuff in her house, including thousands of pounds worth of watches.

That's why she won't stop anything and she'll continue it in for as long as she can and she'll continue using bad mental health as a deflection when really, she's laughing at the gullibility of idiots.

@KateJohns yes you are right. Maybe she'll do another stint in rehab as damage limitation / reputation management.

She also said she had ‘multiple miscarriages’ in a relationship that seemed to last less than 6 month.
she literally will say anything for sympathy.

Don't forget that she had her heart 'smashed into tiny pieces' from that relationship - another suitcase, another hallway.

And then a month later claimed he hated her tattoos and clothing, hinting that he was abusive.

KateJohns · 19/06/2023 21:28

Few days ago, living in fear, totally unwell, dealing with judges, courts, cops and sofa surfing with friends.. dog living God knows where..

Today, dyeing hair and living best life.

Insert about 500 eye roll emojis here.

She has tentacles everywhere.

I commented on Legal Gengar’s Twitter feed about the irony of someone who gives advice to others about debt management when they can’t handle their own - and she appears to have blocked me.

Can’t say it’s a huge loss. Her site was full of, aren’t I such a hero, well someone has to be a champion of the poor, just tell me I’m wonderful, I’m really clever because I found a couple of rusty tins at the back of a cupboard and produced a hearty meal etc etc so pretty cringeworthy. 😣

JM regularly searches her own name and tags on Twitter, and has in the past retweeted or replied to tweets that she's had to locate having done said search, that wouldn't have ordinarily appeared on her feed (eg she's not been tagged). She'll then block anyone who has liked or commented.

When she was on Daily Kitchen Live in 2020 she would also search the hashtags and if anyone said anything negative she'd often pile in on them too. All deleted, of course.

KateJohns · 20/06/2023 11:46

She's the only person I can think of that does no actual work but spends her entire life trying to manage the narrative surrounding her fictional biography and career.
I could not live like that, it'd drive me batty, the cons must really pay well.

I agree @KateJohns it must be exhausting.

Anyway seems that bailiffs have been instructed. That'll be interesting to see whether she pays up or not.

She has other CCJs she's just ignored. I'd wager that she's rarely dealt with repercussion of her actions. Used to getting her own way and being protected by Mum and Dad.. who likely blame themselves for her personality after the took in foster kids and Jack felt pushed out.. but thats armchair psychology and Mumsnet is no place for that..

Yep, she doesn't have a penny to bless herself with. 🙄

And her lovely new hair do isn't a professional cut and colour, but is a product of 2 box dyes she found under the stairs - in her bungalow.

That's a good bit of armchair psychology though, i have to say!

It must have an effect on the foster parent's biological children.

her 1 bed bungalow that's falling apart, and mouldy because she actually cant afford the actual heating. like she is a literal ice-cube, inside an igloo.
