Machine washed, shook, line dried, machine never over full.
Tried lower spin and higher spin.

Yet looks like this. No way could i let the dcs wear it like this.

Id LOVE not to iron so much.. What's your tips

I spend far too much time ironing.

We have a half hour steam function on our washing machine. Use that and hang up on hangers. Haven't ironed a thing for about two years including work and school shirts!

cushioncovers · 19/08/2022 20:22

We all wear clothes like that op, the creases soon drop out with body heat. Honestly life's too short to worry about small creases.

LittleBearPad · 19/08/2022 20:23

Ironing doesn’t have a moral value.

I have no iron, no tumble drier.
What sort of people judge a crinkled t shirt?
No one I would want to know, that's for sure.

HMSSophia · 19/08/2022 20:26

Min 2 loads of washing a day on top of "horror" at creases suggests maybe a bit of a problem with accepting anything other than perfect?

Holidaydreamingagain · 19/08/2022 20:28

The tshirt is fine, just fold really carefully although I’m funny about tshirt necklines. The shorts need a really quick once over

Don't care what anyone says you can tell who is wearing un ironed clothes and it looks scruffy.

And do people whose opinion you value or care about tell you that you look scruffy?

MyneighbourisTotoro · 19/08/2022 20:29

OP your post made me giggle! I’d happily let my DC wear that, life is too short for ironing! I literally tumble dry or hang dry, I homelsty don’t even look for creases, they all fall out once worn anyway!

I may look at steamers

My teen cares very much (16) tries to iron but has dyspraxia so often ends in disaster so myself or dh tend to do his too.
Hes very particular.

Well ive ironed 10 items.!! (shirts, dresses, frills) The other ten gazillion just hung and will test how it goes.

Ok, a teenager being well...a teenager about their appearance is a bit different. Pick your battles and all that.

Chocolatiestchocolate · 19/08/2022 20:34

6 of us

5 beds
Towels etc
Dh work clothes have to be washed separately. (thats 2 loads a wk in summer, 3 if not more winter as bulkier clothes so fills machine quicker)
Potty training toddler that's lots of wet stuff
Everyone's normal clothes, pjs etc,

Ds has work uniform and day clothes each day.
Then norm school uniform the sweaters are purple and get washed seperate the color runs terrible

It just adds up. I don't have work clothes as i wfh and just wear normal clothe.

Buy clothes made from different material

Dry things on hangers

Don’t care what people think as much

InPraiseOfBacchus · 19/08/2022 20:40

I don't own an iron... I wear about 80% jersey fabrics which really don't need it, especially if you air dry them nice and straight. For all the bits that do need de-creasing, I use a little hand held steamer.

Timetogetup123 · 19/08/2022 20:43

Seriously, noone will care at all or even notice I imagine.

turquoise1988 · 19/08/2022 20:43

I iron less as time goes on.

But. Anyone who says nothing needs ironing is lying. Some shit needs ironing. It looks rubbish and obvious when someone is wearing a top that they've just thrown on rather than running the iron over it. People just can't be arsed sometimes, or don't even own an iron.

Not that I expect anyone to care what I or anyone else thinks about the fact they don't iron. But it is true Grin.

CloudCatz · 19/08/2022 20:44

I don't know why you couldn't let the DC wear it like that. They are just kids... I don't get it, they will look fine.

megletthesecond · 19/08/2022 20:45

Reduced iron cycle on washing machine.
Line dry everything, 12 months a year.
Put onto hangers.

chickma · 19/08/2022 20:47

I'm terrible for this. I hate ironing so much. I don't think I've ever noticed someone else's clothes looking creased or crumpled. But I just can't bring myself to wear anything creased! I know OH and the kids couldn't care less about their clothes either, but I just have to iron it all.

Okeydoky · 19/08/2022 20:48

I figure kids value more quality time with their parents over ironed clothes. I doubt anyone on their deathbed ever wished their clothes had been less wrinkled going through life.

PeloAddict · 19/08/2022 20:49

I don't iron
Tops shook and on hangers straight out the wash. Creases always fall out of jeans and I wear stretchy skinny ones anyway
Anything that's really bad I hang up in the bathroom when I shower

TokyoTen · 19/08/2022 20:49

With tops I give them a shake out the washing machine to get the creases to drop and hang them up. With the shorts in your pics I'd shake and fold and they'd be fine.

Swingoutsistersledge2 · 19/08/2022 20:51

I've lowered my ironing expectations as I cannot be bothered anymore the kids just crease it all up again anyway looking for what they want to wear .The only items I iron are shirts as I do hate to see people wearing them creased ! .

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/08/2022 20:51

I think it depends on your machine, I noticed when I wash at my dad's my clothes come out more creased than at home.

I wouldn't iron the clothes you've posted, heat from your body removes creases too.

Declutternutter · 19/08/2022 20:51

Flatten and fold well, I did lots of you tubing the first time I Marie Kondo'd! I gave up ironing years ago after perfecting my folding...... life's too short!

speakout · 19/08/2022 20:52

I don't get it.
I never iron.
I am not interested in petty people who would judge someone with wrinkled clothes.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 19/08/2022 20:52

Don't just shake, pull out the creases after a lower spin and make sure you hang it really carefully. You can have no wonkiness or crumples on the airer or line.

And lower standards a bit too 😉
