Machine washed, shook, line dried, machine never over full.
Tried lower spin and higher spin.

Yet looks like this. No way could i let the dcs wear it like this.

Id LOVE not to iron so much.. What's your tips

I spend far too much time ironing.

This is where you’re going wrong Grin I’d be absolutely fine with my DC wearing these. They won’t care and nor will I. If anyone judges me for not ironing, no loss, we are clearly not compatible people anyway.

Iwannabeadog · 19/08/2022 19:47

I wouldn’t even consider this an issue. Pop it on the child, the creases drop and/or they get covered in stuff anyway and go back in the wash 😁

BotterMon · 19/08/2022 19:48

FFS they're fine! Creases will fall out with body warmth.

I never iron and still wear work clothes to the office every day. Hang up as soon as they come out of washing machine - don't leave in machine.

Or into dryer, brought out and folded or put away when still warm.

I am extremely lucky in that I don't do any of the above myself. My DH does it.

If your standards are that high, you need to keep ironing! I'd wear those myself as the creases will drop out after a few mins.

On the other hand, our t-shirts never look like that after drying (indoors on an airing rack) , so maybe you need to snap (rather than shake gently) and take more care hanging.

I also find that if I fold carefully, any little creases are replaced by more acceptable 'fold lines' by the time things are worn again.

By folding carefully, I mean as though you've just ironed or as though you work in a shop! Lay the item out flat on a table, make purposeful folds and smooth with warm hands. Warm hands seem to act like a (very low watt) iron!

Inextremis · 19/08/2022 19:50

I haven't ironed anything since 1976. Creases fall out when the clothes hit your body heat. I don't buy things that 'require' ironing. So much time saved.

Pixiedust1234 · 19/08/2022 19:50

After line drying I do 5 minutes in dryer to make sure all seams are thoroughly dry, this also helps with creases if you hang them up immediately. The hot air from dryer is similar to the iron 😉

(Running costs would probably be the same if you do a full load).

Leafy3 · 19/08/2022 19:50

The creases in the t-shirt will fall out within 20m or less of wear.

MolliciousIntent · 19/08/2022 19:50

I recommend you unclench.

Winederlust · 19/08/2022 19:50

I honestly don't see what the problem is. They're totally fine and wearable, and would probably look like that after an hour or two of wear anyway.
Life's far too short for unnecessary ironing.

dudsville · 19/08/2022 19:51

I wonder if some of you are over filling the machine? Or if this is a problem specific to dryers - we don't have one.

TreacheryPepper · 19/08/2022 19:52

Another vote for lowering your standards.

I iron my work uniform (healthcare) and clothes for weddings and funerals.

Life's too short for ironing anything else.

Danikm151 · 19/08/2022 19:53

My iron is a paperweight 😂
honestly.. kids crumple clothes anyway so don’t sweat it.

TheOrigRights · 19/08/2022 19:53

Put them on the DC (who will NOT care) and time how long it takes for the creases to drop out.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/08/2022 19:53

I used to iron nearly everything (not underwear, towels or bed-linen).
Now I iron almost nothing.

I would think nothing of wearing clothes like that myself or the dcs wearing them (although they are 16 & 19 and if they want their clothes ironed they can do it themselves).
They don't look particularly creased to me.

I don't tumble dry.
Empty wasving machine asap after it has finished (use timer so it will finish aslt convenient time).
Shake hard and put on airer hung as straight as possible.
When dry fold, and smooth if necessary, or put onto hangers (well dcs just take theirs and throw them in their wardrobes/drawers/leave them in a pile).

I brought a new iron in Aug 2020 as mine caught on fire 🔥 (massive shock). I've probably used it no more than 5 times.

kimchifox · 19/08/2022 19:54

I gave up ironing in lockdown. The only thing I sometimes iron now are sheets because I love a crisp bed. But I also sometimes cheat and send them to the laundry and they come back pressed. I used to iron everything but since the DC have become teens and just pull it all out and leave it on the floor to be trampled and re-creased I have realised it's utterly futile.

Freckl · 19/08/2022 19:55

Echoing a PP if you honestly "can't let DC wear clothes like this" then you need to make your peace with ironing. It's all well and good us lot saying life is too short etc but actually if neat and tidyness (beyond simply clean and decently fitting clothes) matters that much to you then you'll have to make time to iron, pay someone else to, or get DP on board.

MonkeyPuddle · 19/08/2022 19:55

eh what’s wrong with a few creases? You’ve not punched a granny, it’s just a creasy t shirt.

canellini · 19/08/2022 19:56

Honestly can't see what's wrong with those. The only clothes I iron are shirts. Ds wears tshirts or drip dry school shirts. Stop worrying.

LilacPoppy · 19/08/2022 19:57

Confused as to why your dc can't wear them?

ZenNudist · 19/08/2022 19:57

AlisonDonut · 19/08/2022 19:40

As soon as they wear them, those will fall out. It will be fine.

Yes. This. Try it.

LuluBlakey1 · 19/08/2022 19:58

Our DC would have ironed clothes looking like that by the time they got downstairs in them in the morning so there's no point. I iron if we are going somewhere nice but not otherwise.
DH irons things sometimes.
I like ironing if I am by myself and have time. Kitchen - radio play or audible to listen to - it's relaxing and makes me feel in control of the chaos .

ChloeHel · 19/08/2022 19:58

We don’t iron anything, except shirts! We hang all our washing up on a drying rack and it stops the creases!

Chocolatiestchocolate · 19/08/2022 19:59

Thank you. Its hung on a line outside.
Our bathroom is too tiny for putting anything in there. The floor space is 2ft x 2.5ft thw shower goes over bath and everyone uses different tines of day. Plus i do min 2 loads per day its not do able.

Yes dh often irons too but lately more me as hes been doing loads of hours (like 85 hours last week) but yes i think i need to lower standards..

Aw my 8 year old used to have a pair of pink shorts. Don't think he'd wear them now!

They were never ironed.

luckylavender · 19/08/2022 19:59

Fine if you don't want to iron. But don't pretend the creases drop out. They really don't.
