Machine washed, shook, line dried, machine never over full.
Tried lower spin and higher spin.

Yet looks like this. No way could i let the dcs wear it like this.

Id LOVE not to iron so much.. What's your tips

I do own an iron. I use it to put labels in dd's school clothes. I tumble dry everything that can be, or I have a clothes rail that I hang most stuff straight on to. Life is too short to iron stuff.

AdoraBell · 19/08/2022 20:54

I used to use the tumble dryer but we can’t afford to now so I give tops a good shake and smooth the fabric while/before either hanging on the line or on the clothes horse.

DH irons all of his clothes, even gym wear.

acorntotree · 19/08/2022 20:56

Maybe it's been so long since I have ironed that I don't notice but they look fine to me. I would wear them and I would put my children in them.

I wouldn't let my DC wear those like that either OP. I iron clothes as we need them so I don't have a big pile to do at once as they then get creased again in the wardrobe.

PlentyMorePebbles · 19/08/2022 20:56

I never really iron anything, only very occasionally and don’t understand why people iron things like t-shirts, leggings etc.

Life is way too short for that.

Tallulasdancingshoes · 19/08/2022 20:57

I think these are about as good as it gets without ironing. Up to you weather or not you mind. I personally hate the look of creased clothes so I’d just iron them, but then I iron most things.

hewouldwouldnthe · 19/08/2022 20:58

The minute they're on the body the look creased. Don't worry about it. Smooth them out damp and dry on a hanger.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 19/08/2022 20:59

There's nothing wrong with those

PlentyMorePebbles · 19/08/2022 21:00

Inextremis · 19/08/2022 19:50

I haven't ironed anything since 1976. Creases fall out when the clothes hit your body heat. I don't buy things that 'require' ironing. So much time saved.

Love it 😆

UWhatNow · 19/08/2022 21:02

Only other neurotic Stepford wives notice. Most normal people wouldn’t look twice at a child in those clothes. Happy children playing and living their best life bug hunting, crafting, running around etc look a bit grubby, sweaty and crumpled anyway.

Feckingfeck · 19/08/2022 21:05

Hang it .

Spray with water...

Blast with hair dryer...

Ironed 😉

Dreamingcats · 19/08/2022 21:07

Looks fine to me. I iron nothing. I don't have a tumble dryer.

I think my key is that I just don't have clothes in fabrics that need ironing. I don't wear shirts. My baby has a few outfits (gifts) that need ironing - consequently never wears them. My husband does his own ironing but I've found it makes a huge difference to let it air dry on the hanger.

glamourousindierockandroll · 19/08/2022 21:11

I would let my children wear those if we weren't going anywhere special.

Though i'm less inclined to buy things like cargo shorts because of how they crease. Most of my children's every day clothes for playing in are things like leggings and jersey joggers.

weegiemum · 19/08/2022 21:13

I iron for weddings and funerals. I even got rid of the full size ironing table and have a small ikea tabletop one now.

None of my clothes need ironing (I pretty much only wear jersey as I'm fat), dh has a selection of non-iron tops for work (he's the boss so it doesn't matter). When the kids were at school they had m&s non iron shirts and now they've all left, ds needs his ward uniforms tumbled but he's moving out in 2 weeks and it will cease to have anything to do with me, not that it does much right now, he does it himself. Dd2 has a college uniform and a spa uniform for work but they're non-iron.

And none of them buy clothes that need much ironing. I have taught them well!

WibblyWobblyLane · 19/08/2022 21:22

I would let DD wear those 🤷‍♀️.

The trick is to not own an ironing board. Then ironing is such a faff only certain stuff gets ironed

Ulysses · 19/08/2022 21:25

I’ve got a garment steamer that I use more than my iron these day. I don’t do every thing but there are certain fabrics for certain occasions that you do want to look a bit more polished. it’s great for giving everything quick going over before getting dressed. It was about £30 off Amazon. I’ve got a steam generator iron as well which is good for bulk items but takes more time to set up.

ive been using my tumble dryer less and less because of weather and costs, but barely need to iron anything when I do use it.

comfortablyfrumpy · 19/08/2022 21:32

Look fine to me.
I don't buy stuff that needs ironing 😀

I don't use fabric conditioner or a tumble dryer. However I do make sure I really shake things out before I hang them up or peg them up. All tops are dried on hangers.

Works best when there is a good breeze!

They’re kids clothes. Kids thrown food down their tops after 5 mins wear and slump around the house, fight, throw water at each other. Honestly if I’d ironed their clothes I’d be making them stand around the house like mannequins.

The only thing I iron are my partners work shirts and very occasionally a dress of mine. Everything else gets dried on the line or on hangers in the airing cupboard.

Nonsense. I have never judged a parent based on the creases of her children’s clothes.

TriciaMcMillan · 19/08/2022 21:39

I never iron. I simply run over with the handheld steamer and scented ironing water before I wear. Even t shirts. Means clothes are crease free and smell fresh. DH also a convert.

notprincehamlet · 19/08/2022 21:40

Wear a tiara at all times - it draws the eye away from the creases
Taking off your glasses and giving fewer fucks works too
Ironing is a desperate waste of opposable thumbs

User639921 · 19/08/2022 21:41

Ironing is one of those old fashioned things that people used to do in the 50s, a chore done mainly by women.

Because they fear being judged by other women!

Chuck out your iron! You'll get hours of your life back.

MichaelAndEagle · 19/08/2022 21:44

OP i bet if you put those clothes on your child, and an identical ironed set on another child, after an hour you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
