@TheOrigRights - as I said fine if you don't want to iron. But those shirts are really creased.

But they won't be after being worn for a short period of time.

MulberryMoon · 20/08/2022 11:36

I use fabric conditioner, set the machine to delicates and 800 rev spin. Take out and shake and hang on a hanger

Oldraver · 20/08/2022 11:49

Dry on hangers mostly, in summer when dried outside and a little crispy or creased I use the 20 minute warm air function on the dryer.

What sort of maniacs don't iron?

I'd be more likely to ask what sort of maniacs want to waste their lives spending hours ironing every week

We're on P9 of this thread now, and the overwhelming majority must be "maniacs" according to your interpretation.

People with better things to do.

Oh wow I am definitely in the minority then. I am not just saying it, but I wouldn't even let my children go to nursery wearing something as creased as that, so OP I'm absolutely with you here.

That being said, I've honestly have never looked at another child and thought "cor your clothes are creased" - but I know for sure I'd never go out wearing creased clothes so why should the children? I think it's nice for them to look put together, even if it eventually ends up covered in mud and snacks. That's like saying I won't tidy the kitchen today because it only ends up messy again anyway?!

Just try sending them to nursery in clothes that aren’t ironed. Give it a go and see if the world ends.

LittleBearPad · 20/08/2022 14:17

Well not really because kitchens can become unhygienic and cause health problems. You won’t get food poisoning because you don’t iron

justasking111 · 20/08/2022 14:25

Tops body heat creases drop out as with most clothes. Shirts on hangers in conservatory. The only bug bears are linen items all mine. A few minutes kicking around in the tumbler removed while warm and folded works too. I haven't ironed since August 2016 for a wedding 😅

What an odd comparison.

You clean the kitchen because it would be unhygienic and potentially dangerous otherwise.

Not ironing clothes has no impact on anyone else's health.

About 20 years ago I was standing at the ironing board trying to iron dd1's ankle length pleated school skirt. At that moment I took my life back and haven't touched an iron since. The trick is in the smoothing and folding and avoiding labour-needy material.

MulberryMoon · 20/08/2022 15:18

My old Bosch washing machine had an "Easy iron" setting which was designed to leave washing pretty crease free. My current John Lewis washing machine isn't quite as good for that so I might go back to bosch with easy iron next time I need a replacement

Topseyt123 · 20/08/2022 15:36

I see nothing wrong with the clothes in those pictures. My children wore things in that state and so did I. We all still do.

As far as I am concerned, anybody who wanted those ironed could bloody well do it themselves. Funnily enough, they don't.

I absolutely refuse to waste time ironing. Ironing can get in the bin.

lljkk · 19/08/2022 19:40

I would wear stuff that looks like that, DC notice less than I do. <shrug>

This is how we wear them like this. They either drop out with body heat or more are added just like if you had ironed it. I've not ironed in years. I don't look scruffy.

jadedspark · 20/08/2022 19:00

My clothes don't look like that. I fold everything when I take it off the line/out the tumble dryer and hang up all tops including DC's.

My clothes would only look like that if I'd left them unfolded or sat in the tumble dryer for ages. I still wouldn't iron those clothes, just save them for at home days/park/soft play.

I haven't ironed in years bar the odd item for an interview/wedding.

Sidetracking here but those people who hang stuff up to dry how do you get it not to smell ? I use washing tablets and fabric conditioner and although towels smell fine certain t shirts and other clothes stink of a sour smell ?

My daughters uniform top used to smell (armpits), then we bought the dettol laundry liquid. It kills the sweat bacteria that causes the sour smell even after only one wash, but we use it on her uniform all the time now. Worth every penny.

luckylavender · 21/08/2022 19:04

I've been thinking about this thread. It's quite rude isn't it? I'm not criticising any of you & how you dress but I object to the way people who iron are ridiculed. Live & let live people. Be kind!

justasking111 · 21/08/2022 19:18

I wonder if the Dettol laundry would work on trainers

I’m thinking that about a lot of the posts on this thread… I smell a lot of this from people when out shopping - sometimes perfectly well dressed people too. They shouldn’t worry so much about creases, more about the minging laundry that they’ve probably gone nose blind to.

We're all encourage to wash at low temperatures these days. That might account for some whiffy folks

Deadringer · 21/08/2022 23:44

I don't get the dryer thing, I only use mine occasionally but I find the clothes come out of it much more creased than when they went in.
