Doesn’t really go with the suit though.

I have many things to say about the Mail, but the decision to show his poems on parchment (signed Ryan Giggs, 2017) is a rare flash of genius.

Also this from the judge...

Just reading the r'final letter'' listing all the names of who he was having affairs with - its like listening to that song Mambo No. 5!

Grin Or that Beautiful South one. Jennifer, Alison, Phillipa, Sue, Deborah, Annabel, too

Or liver, lung or labia.

A free poem for Ryan
oh I do adora
your labia majora
though it gets a little tricky
when I try to find your clitty

Choked on my dinner reading that! 🤣

“When I think of you, I tug my cock
Until it’s as hard as a fucking rock
You're truly the best shag I’ve had in my life
Even better than my brother’s wife.”

The funniest thing I have read for a long time. I literally cried laughing, you are a comedy genius!

However, once this shitshow is over, all most people will remember will be the poems. The legal niceties will be forgotten and it will either be he got potted despite the poems or he got acquitted, despite the poems.

Yes, the totem pole will be all we remember - not his vile behaviour. Although she doesn't sound much better. It's all rather an even more gutter version of Depp and Heard with worse creative writing.

Sparklingbrook · 19/08/2022 20:03

I think it's entirely possible to remember the vile behaviour as well as the awful poem.

waterlego · 19/08/2022 20:55

It’s interesting. The poetry obviously does make Giggs seem ludicrous, but also hints at a low intellect. A low IQ is obviously not (or shouldn’t be) an excuse for controlling, aggressive or violent behaviour in a relationship. It’s quite possible to be both stupid and nasty, and that’s how Giggs seems to me, frankly. Hopefully the jury will see it that way too.

I wonder why one name was redacted 🤔

newnamethanks · 19/08/2022 21:20

The majority of us, I think, recall the brother's wife. It's the first thing that comes to mind for me if I hear his name. Revolting man. That's partly why we find this farrago so entertaining, an apparent powerful brute reduced to a laughing stock. Men fear that women will laugh at them. Women fear men will kill them. I hope he gets everything he deserves. He's certainly put effort into achieving it.

DownNative · 19/08/2022 21:56

The final goodbye....anyone else getting shades of Mambo Number 5?? 👀🤐

In seriousness, I'm not sure why some of this stuff was allowed to be introduced as I can't see the relevance to the (serious) assault charges, although I'm probably missing something. Any tactics to minimise should utterly fail as she is not on trial for assaulting him.

Assuming the case has been reported vaguely accurately, there is not much objective evidence of controlling behaviour by RG (which isn't to say I don't believe Kate Greville). So a lot of the argument hinges on whether the alleged acts are consistent with his character, as part of the circumstantial evidence of the likelihood of the alleged offences having taken place.

If the prosecution is arguing that the jury should believe that RG committed the alleged assaults, because 'that's the sort of person he is', it is only reasonable that the defence be allowed to counter-argue that RG wouldn't have committed the alleged offences, because that's not the sort of person he is.

However I agree with you that a lot of the character evidence seems irrelevant. God knows what we are supposed to make of the fact that RG never thumped Alex Ferguson (today's evidence) - as if (alleged) domestic abusers normally go around slugging their male bosses. You might as well argue that RG can't be a serial shagger because he never shagged Alex Ferguson.

Mythreefavouritethings · 20/08/2022 01:38

Ryan Giggs, who says he’s been unfaithful in every relationship he ever had. Something tells me that is not going to be a problem he’s going to have to deal with from this point on… 🤦‍♀️🥴

CPL593H · 20/08/2022 08:33

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow Yes. I can see that they are attempting to show RG in a more positive/innocuous (if incredibly foolish) light but totally agree re the Alex Ferguson thing. It seems a reach to involve his behaviour toward the male, incredibly powerful and intimidating manager of Man U.

Movinghouseatlast · 20/08/2022 08:53

I'm interested in this case because I grew up with coercive control. My dad controlled my mum for their entire marriage. She was an unhappy husk of a woman, it broke my heart to see what he did to her. Obviously it deeply effected me too.

I can't believe it had taken so long for this to become a crime. It is torture.

I have read all the evidence and cannot see any evidence of coercive control. I see evidence of a pretty toxic relationship on both sides, with name calling coming from both of them. They seem to have had an obsessive relationship.

He is clearly a serial cheater and from the evidence it is that she is angry about. He betrayed her so many times and expected to get away with it. I think she felt he was controlling her because she couldn't leave him, but that can be about obsessive feelings rather than coercive control.

I imagine many of us have been in or observed obsessive unhealthy relationships but coercive control is another matter in my experience.

shoebag · 20/08/2022 10:22

So did Ryan cheat on this Kate with this new one Zara? I like the way Kate got in her letter that he was truly in love with another of the 7 not Zara. Do you think this was to hurt Zara?

And yet after everyone hearing about his affair with his SIL he has 8 women on the go.

newnamethanks · 20/08/2022 15:58

Perhaps he's just working his way through the alphabet and Zara will be the final luvva. Lucky girl.
