I do recognise there’s a difference between formal and informal events. Obviously.

but still 174 formal sounds a lot if you’re talking about a town. It’s not that impressive at a national scale.

I'm going a bunting hunting today.

Cringe Fest.

Pity there are so many protocol rules (bullshit stuff) around the flying of flags, as I would much prefer to see the Royal Standard flown everywhere for the Jubilee, but no, cannot be done because Q is not in residence in your house and it cannot be flown anywhere else but where she is residing.

The Standard is so much less provocative that the UJ. Connotations of racism, imperialism and all the rest of it, whether you like it or not ARE associated with the UJ flag. That is the reality and I won't be flying it for that reason.

Anyway, the cringe element is flying a flag or putting up bunting to celebrate the fact that we are subjects of monarch for whom we largely pay to exist, and it is not in my spirit to do that. I don't know any of them, don't care, just like they don't care about me either.

All forgotten about in a few days anyway, and back to the reality of a non Royal life. Ho hum.

We have permanent pastel rainbow coloured bunting up where the mud kitchen is in the back garden. DH hates it because he always says ‘it isn’t anyone’s birthday’ but tbf we are a family of seven so it’s rarely not someone’s birthday Grin.

No jubilee bunting though, I’m a republican.

You’d fit in nicely where I live, they’re buntin obsessed. I like buntings but never felt the need to stick one outside in the street and couldn’t be bothered to get up ladders for it either 😂Each to their own though…
