That's interesting in itself, thank you. And Fabricant is just foul. What's wrong with people in Lichfield that they keep electing the self regarding oaf?

Notonthestairs · 18/05/2022 11:50

The Fabricant tweet is awful - but rounded off with an emoji...
It doesn't indicate taking the issue at all seriously.

But I don't think his view represents many of his fellow MPs. I'd assume the Whips will take him aside. (I hope that's not just wishful thinking on my part.)

ClaudineClare · 18/05/2022 12:21

Fabricunt (sorry) should be disciplined for that tweet. Vile.

BBC Politics live have talked about it and said he's been asked to take it down.

It's still there as I type.

"Mr Fabricant has called those who have taken issue with his tweet “professional offence takers.” That would therefore now appear to include a Cabinet Minister from his own party."

The Perpetual Disarray of the Tories.

ClaudineClare · 18/05/2022 15:01

He has deleted that tweet now, but not the follow up one.

jgw1 · 18/05/2022 15:38

Does Fabricant exist to make us all feel better because we are not as dense as he is?

I just loved this by KS. First of all he nails who wants a windfall tax with an impressive list, then he skewers Rees-Mogg in the most apt way. Not sure the Tories liked it, but I got the sense BJ was stifling laughter.....

Unfortunately for him it’s been retweeted. I wish their local parties would deselect Fabricant ( and his wig) and Bone. They’re a total embarrassment.

Notonthestairs · 18/05/2022 16:10

I may be wrong but I think a windfall tax is coming - announcement timing to be utilised to distract from .

I'll credit Johnson with one thing - he'd never waste time wandering about leaving leaflets on peoples desks. (But he's quite content for JRM to utilise such pointless activities as a distraction).

Apparently they laughed, R-M did anyway

was quite funny

Yes, it was! I couldn't see JRM's face. I only caught BJ's sifling laughter face!

The ridiculous note was so old fashioned and pathetic.

The windfall tax is interesting though

Listening to tax people on R4 etc it’s overstated as doing much economically

but it is powerful politically. But then people expect a lot from it

if course Labour claiming it first makes it harder for Cons to follow

politically it’s an easy win so they still might (although not much improvement after might dampen that)

itsgettingweird · 18/05/2022 16:23

Even Patel laughed at Starmers comment.

I've never seen her naturally smile or laugh before. She actually looked human.

DuncinToffee · 18/05/2022 16:35

This happening in 2022

A food bank in Cornwall has claimed children are suffering from food poisoning because parents are turning off fridges and freezers at night to save money on energy bills

borntobequiet · 18/05/2022 16:40

Not sure the Tories liked it

Liz Truss definitely didn’t, she looked affronted on behalf of prefects everywhere.

Interesting attempt here by a chef to make cheap meals.

ClaudineClare · 18/05/2022 16:47

I agree that there will be some form of windfall tax, spun to make it look like it was thought up by Tories.

That piece about people turning off their fridges is shameful. Not only is it is bad for people it is probably bad for the fridges and they will end up breaking down.

The one other big difference the Tories could make is to reduce gas and electric standing charges. British Gas send me this "exclusive" rip off offer to fix my rates.

Gas
Standing charge:
38.881p per day
Unit rate:
10.508p per kWh

Electric
Standing charge:
60.969p per day
Unit rate:
34.625p per kWh

ClaudineClare · 18/05/2022 16:57

The Tory twitterati are busy swimming in their own ordure. Yes it is real.

Hartley Brewer should speak with Mrs Johnson who has described her experience with the black cab rapist. I don't believe she found it amusing.
