What have you bought that's changed your life for the better?

I'm not taking about big houses, cars etc, but small, every day purchases. I've spent £35 on a pair of Bluetooth over ear headphones with active noise cancellation. Being autistic and sensitive to noise, these are an absolute game changer. They're amazing. Currently on a fairly busy train and all I can hear is my music.

@Xiaoxiong which charger did you get? I ordered one which was awful so I got a refund then I got fed up of researching the options & gave up.

TicTac80 · 22/04/2022 20:41

-Decree nisi and absolute.
-instant pot- bought it in 2016, it’s fab!
-thermomix - I’d been dreaming of one after seeing my mate’s one about 10yrs back.
-my Eufy robovac.
-my 3 cats (two are rescue cats).
-my kindle

DoubleGauze · 22/04/2022 20:48

Definitely my sewing machine. I've been learning to make and repair clothes for nearly a year now. It's made a massive difference.

Also , we recently bought some frosted film for our living room windows. Absolute game changer for us , as our son gets frustrated and upset when the room is too bright.

Southeastdweller · 22/04/2022 20:48

My MacBook Pro computer.

A Moleskine appointments diary with a week to view calendar on the left side and a blank page on the right.

Silicon ear plugs.

A Daunt books canvas bag.

TicTac80 · 22/04/2022 20:53

Can I add some more?

-moon cup and cloth pads
-cloth wipes
-my ebike
-electric mop (not a robot one)
-cordless hoover

I’d love a link to the all in one charger for iPhone, Apple Watch etc please! And for the massage gun too please!

WLAH · 22/04/2022 14:42

Means I can put the clothes out while at work and doesn't matter if it rains. We don't have a tumble dryer

The clothes line is amazing! Could you post a link for where you can buy it as I haven't come across it before.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 22/04/2022 20:56

My shark cordless. I had a sudden illness last year which left me in a wheelchair and I couldn't manoeuvre the vacuum we had so had to wait until someone came round to vacuum for me and my carpet was a constant state. Now I can whizz round and vacuum every day! It's made a really big difference to me.

Sandra2010 · 22/04/2022 21:11

Air fryer, without a doubt, not even an expensive one but definitely the best idea I've had for a long time. Ditto slow cooker, I thought they were a bit old fashioned but seriously, when you're out all day or just can't be arsed to cook in the evening, there are some great recipies and sauces, and not all heavy winter stews. Also splashed out on a big name cordless vacuum cleaner, expensive, but definitely worth it with a dog that sheds ridiculous amounts, the difference between it and a cheap one is incomparable. Ditto carpet cleaner. Again, a bit more potentially pricey (depending upon garden size), but swapped the turf in the garden for astroturf, just a middle-quality one. Definitely worth doing, we have two dogs and it's so much easier than picking up from the real grass. I can even get the kids to do it without shouting at them. It also always looks tidy.

longtompot · 22/04/2022 21:25

Toast tongs. Bamboo tongs with a magnet to stick to the side of the toaster, or in our case, the microwave next to it and you can take your toast out safely without either electrocuting yourself or burning fingers. A few pounds from Lakeland and worth every penny

EthelbertaChickerel · 22/04/2022 08:15

@Subbaxeo

A cat flap linked to the internet with an app. Made such a difference to our lives-no more getting up to open the cat flap in the morning, we can set the times we want him to be in and change it to locked remotely-we even get a message telling us he’s inside. Useful if you want to then keep him in for any reason and you’re at work-just lock it remotely! My dh persuaded me and we’re so happy we bought it.
Could you please link this? It sounds like just what I need!

I have one of these too, surepet do them, pet door connect, I think it’s called - you get the door and a hub, which links to the app. All microchip. Works like a dream !

Flatandhappy · 20/04/2022 14:06

Based totally on a thread here discussing robovacs I bought one - I thought you had to pay a fortune for a decent one but MN wisdom said not. My floors have never been so clean and I am in love with the thing.

What brand do you have?

Lolabalola · 22/04/2022 21:27

@BestIsWest please tell more about the wondrous hot water bottle ?

BestIsWest · 22/04/2022 22:13

@Lolabalola it’s a Dawinsie one from Amazon. I don’t think it’s anything fancy but it seems to stay warm for hours. Has a red knitted cover with hearts.

Graphista · 22/04/2022 23:45

My kitchen aids - I am disabled and resisted this for FAR too long! Cheap and easy to use should have done it years ago!

"Extra" utensils - I drop things a LOT! And I have ocd too. So if I'm cooking and I drop a ladle or whatever I have spares. Again very cheap solve and wish id done it years ago it was a Facebook post that prompted me - along the lines of if it's hurting nobody and makes your life easier do it!

Re hair catcher for shower I need one of those! Had one before but last place was bath only new place is shower only and these are great for meaning you don't have to do the gross job of unclogging the drain! Highly recommend

I think puppies and decree absolutes are on the more expensive side! But I get where you guys are coming from! I'd love a puppy but not up to caring for a pet

Alexa - defo! Not only for decent music play and sound for streaming. When I got the first one I considered it an extravagance even though I bought on Black Friday. But when that one started to go sound wise I got another and now have 2! The old one I use for non music stuff as it's a bit crackly. But I seem to remember stuff when I'm up to my elbows in something so being able to set reminders is fab! I don't use to beat advantage though I'd love to use it for other stuff so any tips?

Currently use for - music, sound for streaming, time checks when I'm mid task and know I need finished by a certain time, reminders

@CopperLily Jesus I'd take them back! No way they should be duff already!

And something really small - a charger tidy that sticks to the bedside table and keeps the wires neat and out of sight. 😄**

Ohh I'd like to know more about this please!

Off the back of recommendations on here also :

Lencent travel multi charger adapter - got one for dd too for her 1st holiday abroad without me. Her friends had remembered their usuals chargers and adapters but forgot the foreign plug socket aspect! She was very popular on that holiday! Grin

Also omeril headlamp. Intended for cyclists but great for cross stitch!

Cordless stick vacuum -Also thought an extravagance -so much easier and quicker than my old upright

Kindle (am on my second one) and Kindle Unlimited. So worth the £7.99/m for the free books.

I have prime - initially for the delivery but well worth the £7.99 for prime music, video, reading, music... love it

I need to get another slow cooker I dropped and broke lid of last one but they're so easy to use to make healthy tasty meals - cheaply too! With the energy prices

A heat retaining hot water bottle. It stays warm for hours.
Airpods.
Fitflops trainers and slippers. Cured my plantar fasciitis.

Can you tell me which one you have? Thanks

avamiah · 23/04/2022 02:13

3 years ago I bought a kitten from a mum who’s child went to the same judo club as my daughter , as she was always selling kittens 🙄
Anyway he is a boy and we call him Moose and we just adore him and he understands every word we say to him and he makes us smile every day.

I paid £40 for him and that’s the best £40 I have ever spent.

He is

A member of our family who we love very much .

Willowkins · 23/04/2022 02:17

A hammock for the garden. This is now officially my happy place.

tiddlywinks2 · 23/04/2022 02:54

White noise machine. I really struggle sleeping (as shown by me posting at 3am Grin) I purchased a white noise machine and I've been managing to go to sleep. It's the best thing I ever purchased. But don't forget to pack it when you go away..

tiddlywinks2 · 23/04/2022 02:59

Forgot to add, my oodie!!! It's been amazing though winter, barely put the heating on!
