Anyone else planning incase they need to leave London?

So we didn't think Putin would invade Ukraine. He has. Didn't think he would bomb schools and hospitals and houses. He has.

I know the NATO etc countries are trying for it not to develop into a bigger war.

However what if it does. Surely London would be on the target list? We have camping stuff, am thinking of getting it together so we can get away from London.

Is anyone else?

???

If it’s a war between nato and Russia l wouldn’t bother going off to camp.

It’ll be over in secinds

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/03/2022 09:58

Seconds

NoToLandfill · 04/03/2022 10:02

Well no, seeing the way they've bombed Ukraine cities it's taking days.

You are better off getting out early or staying put. Trying to get out when everyone else is will leave you out in the open in a traffic jam. Learn from Ukraine. Watch the signs.

LizDoingTheCanCan · 04/03/2022 10:07

If Putin attacks London it will not be by land. As Arse says, it will be over very quickly.

Dynamicsloth · 04/03/2022 10:07

I live in London and don't plan on going anywhere. IF Putin decides to go nuclear it will escalate and the whole of western Europe and possibly the world will be uninhabitable. Frankly I would prefer that everyone I love is killed instantly.

We could go to the south west of Ireland where DH is from, but I would prefer a quick death than a slower death from radiation sickness or starvation. I would not like to live in a post apocalyptic world in a nuclear winter.

LizDoingTheCanCan · 04/03/2022 10:10

Plus if we were invaded by their military, our 'patriots' would be hiding behind their massive flags rambling on about winning and backing Boris. There wouldn't be much resistance!

Dynamicsloth · 04/03/2022 10:12

Russia does not have sufficient land forces to invade western Europe. It will be nuclear.

If he targets London he is hardly going to send his tanks and air strike force all the way here, it'll be a nuclear strike if anything and London will be the best place to be as it will be over for us in seconds, not a long lingering death from radiation poisoning as will happen at wherever you were planning to escape to..

I thought Putin would invade Ukraine. Am I the only one ?

DialsMavis · 04/03/2022 10:18

As others have said, in the vanishing unlikely possibility IT happened, we would be hot footing it towards London to get it over with as soon as possible.

Etinoxaurus · 04/03/2022 10:18

I don’t think he’ll bomb us and if he does the only thing to do or have done is to have your ‘emotional affairs in order’

Unnecessary

Is it though? These sorts of posts drive misinformation and panic.

Echobelly · 04/03/2022 10:23

No, no plans. Nowhere to go especially. I guess if it looked like nukes were going to land any second we'd get out to my sister's in Berkshire, but I don't think that's very likely.

And I think plenty of people thought and indeed knew Putin was going to invade the Ukraine and bomb it. It's been coming for at least 10 years and was hardly a surprise - the only surprise, perhaps, is that it's taken him so long to get round to it. This was not out of the blue, and he has a specific bee in his bonnet about Ukraine 'belonging to' Russia.

itsnotdeep · 04/03/2022 10:26

Where are you planning to go OP? What do you think life will be like when you get there?

I remember when I was young, they used to do a map showing where the nuclear bombs would be likely to be dropped, what their impact would be, and which teeny tiny parts of the UK would be less immediately impacted.

moreshitandnofuckingredemption · 04/03/2022 10:27

No.
I've bought some extra beans in this week's shop, that's about it.

edwinbear · 04/03/2022 10:29

No. We live in London, if a nuclear bomb comes our way we won't have time to get to the in laws in Cornwall. Not that we'd try, what would be the point?

titchy · 04/03/2022 10:31

If Putin attacked a NATO country the UK would not be top of the list - the Baltic states would be. And then nato would all over Russia in a flash. Then either putin disappears or he nukes the west. In which case the whole world is fucked so stay in London.

NB - ain't gonna happen btw. Ukraine was always a possibility - he got a chunk of it eight years ago - hardly unexpected.

Hollyhead · 04/03/2022 10:31

I don’t think him invading Ukraine was a surprise either.

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/03/2022 10:32

If it reaches that point, camping gear isn’t going to help.

AlternativePerspective · 04/03/2022 10:33

I thought these stupid threads had stopped by now. Yawn.

He's already using weapons he shouldn't be

I'd be in my way IN to London for the hit if it was imminent, not OUT

maybe sit in Hyde park and wait for it, I don't know
