So we didn't think Putin would invade Ukraine. He has. Didn't think he would bomb schools and hospitals and houses. He has.

I know the NATO etc countries are trying for it not to develop into a bigger war.

However what if it does. Surely London would be on the target list? We have camping stuff, am thinking of getting it together so we can get away from London.

Is anyone else?

@youhadmeatjello

I spoke to a family member today who is in a job that involves planning for this kind of thing - so countrywide disaster, and there are plans in place for many things at the moment (I’m not privy to the details) but she’s not worried at all.

This has made me feel somewhat reassured as she WILL be privy to the details but never shares specifics as she’s obviously can’t.

@youhadmeatjello thank you, this is good to know.

@FavouriteFortnight There are minimal "plans" in terms of contingency planning for a full scale nuclear attack on the UK - aside from the detection of an incoming strike to enable the launch of a retaliation (which is of course the UK's plan to prevent a nuclear strike in the first place).

A significant period of escalation may allow an attempt at some dispersal/protection of absolute key officials, but there is minimal infrastructure to support this. As an aside the public's opinion of key officials and functions would differ massivley from what is actually prioritised (this was true in the cold war also).
