One4all giftcards are a nightmare

You can only use them online to pay for something of their value or less.

They're such a PITA - I always end up buying DS's from him and just giving him the £ instead.

Oh, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you @Guardsman18!

It's actually good that this thread has been bumped close to Christmas.

Guardsman18 · 19/11/2022 10:52

Thanks I'm going to need all the good wishes! I had 2 Love something or other cards (£10 each) and bought something more expensive for my DS as I had the vouchers. Apparently, Argos only accept one voucher per transaction. My track record is not good!

Always4Brenner · 19/11/2022 10:53

Tried using in sainsburys once never again dreadful things.

TheFarawayNearby · 19/11/2022 10:56

I reported them to Which when this thread was originally active, but I didn't hear anything back unfortunately.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 19/11/2022 10:59

These used to be given out at work as rewards. Despite being next to a huge shopping centre, they were too hard to use. I agree tkmaxx was the only shop you could easily use them. If someone was going to buy something there, they would take one for the team and use up as many as they could and pay back everyone!

Guardsman18 · 19/11/2022 11:03

Spoke too soon. One4All have emailed me to say that there is a problem with Argos vouchers and have refunded the amount to my card. Too scared to check the balance! What a faff.

TheFarawayNearby · 19/11/2022 11:05

Oh no, @Guardsman18!

I haven't read back, but wasn't everyone managing to swap them into John Lewis / M&S voucher relatively easily?

Actually, I don't think it was Which I reported them to 🧐.

Good to bump this before everyone has bought their Christmas presents. What a total pain.

TwoMonthsOff · 19/11/2022 11:23

I ended up with a lot of them in £15 value, but it wasn't that bad in the end
They are difficult to use online but I used them successfully in the shops Argos, Marks and Spencer and Boots. You just need to know the balance and there is an app you can download to show you by entering the card number and the 3 digit security code which is on the card (this wasn't a problem with small denominations though) you need to tell the cashier the value and they swipe the card down the side of the reader in the slot . You can pay any balance due on the purchase with cash or card, so not that bad really. I just wanted to say I had success in those three shops.
I understand some of then need to be activated, but you can also do this on their App but mine were just 'basic' ones
Hope this helps

TwoMonthsOff · 19/11/2022 11:31

I should also add that you can use more than one card per transaction, but you need to tell the cashier the amount on each card.

TheFarawayNearby · 19/11/2022 11:42

@TwoMonthsOff, I suspect it's in the company's best interests to make them difficult to use...

TwoMonthsOff · 19/11/2022 11:54

@TheFarawayNearby
I think they must make a packet on the leftover balances, and they do attract a monthly charge but they make that clear, its 18 months from issue. Using online is hard because you can only use one payment method and the chances of the transaction being equal to the card value are very slim I suppose, but as I said I was dreading using them after reading about them but happily found it really straightforward to use in the physical shop. I managed to spend all of them easily, I have 2 x £15 left which I will use on M & S Foods

Guardsman18 · 19/11/2022 11:59

M & S isn't an option unfortunately. I've just had the second email about a refund. Maybe I'll go into the shop? Argos is not far away. I do like online shopping though - well, I do usually!

TwoMonthsOff · 19/11/2022 12:06

@Guardsman18
I like to get Argos online pay and collect, its in Sainsburys so combine with the food shop. You you just have to check stock in your shop online (thats the tricky bit with Argos as lots of items arent in stock) and order at the till 'Old School' but the staff in there seem familiar with them so honestly it will be okay! I bought quite a few things I needed so it was all good
Boots was fine as well I stocked up on No7 skincare

KangarooKenny · 19/11/2022 12:18

My SIL insists that they can be used like a debit card.

KangarooKenny · 19/11/2022 12:20

I ended up having to add to the voucher to get something from JL. They really are a PITA. I’d rather not receive one as I have to act grateful, when I’m inwardly seething.

caffelattetogo · 19/11/2022 23:46

Here's hoping to never receive one of these cards again. Such a nuisance.

PikachusSmarterBrother · 22/12/2022 23:07

Just bumping this in case it helps anyone.

Meltinthemiddle · 26/12/2022 17:05

My boys have these for the 2nd year running. Apparently it can be used in JD sports as advertised on the card but when it went ok not he shop they said they don't accept them. How is this even legal?

NewMoonPhase · 26/12/2022 17:06

I just bought john lewis vouchers with them online

Toddlerteaplease · 26/12/2022 18:41

I bought a John Lewis voucher with one. That was easier.

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2022 18:49

I've just bought something with one at Argos online. I put the details in as if it was a visa debit card as per instructions and it arrives on Wednesday.

PikachusSmarterBrother · 26/12/2022 18:49

Yes, I did similar to get rid of mine 🙂. We didn't receive any this year thankfully.

BertiesShoes · 28/12/2022 13:59

@Toddlerteaplease
Or
@NewMoonPhase

Can you send a link showing where you swap to JL vouchers please? When I go onto the Swap part of the one4all site, John Lewis isn’t an option?

May@Toddlerteapleasebe you did it ano
