One4all giftcards are a nightmare

You can only use them online to pay for something of their value or less.

They're such a PITA - I always end up buying DS's from him and just giving him the £ instead.

I agree - absolutely awful far too hard to use

MsEmmeline · 27/12/2021 21:21

@hemhem - just let them know how to swap them for John Lewis vouchers, a few people on the thread have done this.

I used it instore at Boots with no issue.

Custardslice3 · 27/12/2021 21:32

Ugh, DS recieved one of these - frustratingly from someone who usually gives a gift having asked me what he would like, but this year I said there was no need to give a gift, though if they really wanted to he always enjoys books. My whole family have tried to have a less consumer based Christmas, with everything we gifted being second-hand, and I felt bad asking them to buy a new toy or something when I wouldn't buy it for him myself, plus I find it really stressful trying to come up with ideas for people as DS has quite limited play due to his needs. Anyways, that completely backfired as now I have a voucher that will be hard to spend, and will have to use it to buy him something new anyway!

I can't find the post from someone saying they spent it on petrol - how do I do that? Sainsburys isn't listed on the website.

Custardslice3 · 27/12/2021 21:33

If you swap them for JL vouchers, could I then take those vouchers into waitrose to spend like you can with normal JL vouchers?

Chasingsquirrels · 27/12/2021 21:40

We got 2 x £50 cards last year.
Lots of eateries, but not great with covid.
I used part of the first one instore in Argos, can't remember what I did with the rest of it or the first £20 of the 2nd. Have just spent the remaining £30 in B&Q instore as a part payment.

This year I've had a £50 Love2Shop voucher which looks just as hard to spend, I tried it in B&Q with the One4All.

LethargicActress · 27/12/2021 21:41

I've had these from work a few times and have spent them in various shops without a problem.

eggsfor1 · 27/12/2021 21:45

Converted mine to asos vouchers. Got the voucher from work and paid for lots of Christmas presents 🤣

user33323 · 27/12/2021 21:46

The kids One4all are even worse! The retailers are WHSmith, Build a Bear, Vue, Schuh, Go Ape, Toucan (subscription box) or the Entertainer. So only one shop you can buy toys, and it's a really poor toy shop. I've bought them off my kids in the past thinking I'll use them for their Christmas presents, and nothing on their lists is available at the entertainer. We don't have a Vue or Go Ape locally. Really poor choice, and you can't even use them online.

itwasntaparty · 27/12/2021 21:46

They're awful. The terms are so restricting.

hemhem · 27/12/2021 21:47

Thanks @msEmmeline. I'm not sure they would shop at John Lewis (otherwise I'd have gven them JL vouchers in the first place!!) Am going to have to ask them if they have any bother using the card, I can't bear the thought of them being wasted.

Bethany7 · 27/12/2021 21:48

I hate these too and my husband got one from my mum for Xmas! I just wanted to check though, when I have gone through the stress of trying to use it online and eventually did (with money left over of course) it was because I thought you couldn't use it in person in a store as I thought it said that. So have people got lucky by using it in a store or are you technically allowed to? Thanks!

You can definitely spend in store. Check out the web site for a list.
Bethany7 · 27/12/2021 21:58

Chasing Squirrels thank you!

On a separate note I don't know how to directly respond to a specific poster 🙄

Chasingsquirrels · 27/12/2021 22:02

You can @(name) them, although I'm quite happy not to be @'d!

Judellie · 27/12/2021 22:03

@Chasingsquirrels you can spend Love2Shop in Iceland so you can use it on food if all else fails. So they are a bit better.

I can't remember the last time I went in an Iceland! The local one is in the shopping centre without a car park which just seems daft to me.
I'm sure I'll spend it on something 🙂.

Yes, I think you can 🙂.

I had issues with them a few years ago. I bought a John Lewis gift voucher with it. Which solved the problem.

girafferafferaffe · 27/12/2021 22:18

I swapped mine on their website for an ASOS voucher and got something on there. It was instantaneous.

mummabubs · 27/12/2021 22:21

I'm so glad I saw this thread as I've just been given one today! Will look at converting it into another gift card. Thanks for all the comments and advice.

LegoCardSwapper · 27/12/2021 22:46

Fuuuuuuuck. Guess what I've just gifted all our godchildren/friends children for Xmas? And teachers. And Beavers leaders. And Brownies leaders. Fucking hell.

BeautifulTulips · 27/12/2021 22:51

So you can't use them as part payment if you buy something more expensive?! What a con... DD got bought 2 for Christmas. Can you top up the amount, say you have £10 and the item is £15 can you add £5 on?

HowBad · 27/12/2021 22:54

Oh no, I gave one of these to DD's key person at nursery Sad

OhDear2200 · 27/12/2021 22:59

Thank you people! I just swapped mine to TKMax vouchers.
