One4all giftcards are a nightmare

You can only use them online to pay for something of their value or less.

They're such a PITA - I always end up buying DS's from him and just giving him the £ instead.

@MsEmmeline

I just looked at their FB page (One4all Gift Card UK) - lots of angry emojis and complaints.

I'm going to try to convert it to a decent giftcard, I'll post if I manage it.

Lol you want to read my two reviews on Trustpilot, raving mad doesn't quite cut it Grin
HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 27/12/2021 16:40

@SerendipitySunshine

They are the absolute worst! Lost over £100 on them after DC were born. Got them as gifts, mostly £10 or £20 cards, and kept them to buy bigger sizes and thought that as long as we spent before expiry they'd be ok. All trickled away by 'inactivity fees'. These monthly charges eat into unspent balances when a card goes unused for a long time – until the balance reaches zero. They were still within expiry but worth nothing. Never again!
That's a bloody scam! Someone should report to trading standards.

I'm going to try this too.

So, if anyone needs any ideas re what to buy for their awful relatives 😄🙈...

OP posts:
Dinosaurwoman · 27/12/2021 16:42

They are utter shite, DH got one last year and it took months and hours of shenanigans to spend it. Still got 99p left on it which pisses me off because you just know that they’ve set the system up with the intention of skimming all the unspent residue on the cards, I’d rather give it to charity if I knew how.

bantuknots73 · 27/12/2021 16:45

They're so simple I love them. It's all I'll be requesting for my next baby shower:)

PatriotCanes · 27/12/2021 16:47

Eighteen months after purchase, they start taking off 90p per month fees.
You can't use them online as part purchase towards anything.
I detest them also!

MsEmmeline · 27/12/2021 16:47

@B1rdinthebush

I got given one through work and converted it online to a gift card for another store (I chose John Lewis). Was able to buy something more than the value of the gift card too.
THANK YOU!!!! I have 4 x £10 One4All gift cards that I got as travel expenses reimbursement that I have been unable to use as I can never find anything I want to buy that is under £10 including p&p - and I've just managed to convert them to JL vouchers which I will be able to use easily.
MsEmmeline · 27/12/2021 16:53

Did your JL vouchers arrive by email @onemouseplace?

OP posts:
Needdoughnuts · 27/12/2021 16:54

And someone up the thread said it was 20p 'admin cost' a month after 18 months. Mine was 99p, so a £10 voucher from a relative disappeared within a year, just 2 and a half years after being gifted it. Why didn't I spend it straight away? Easier said than done! (Read previous postsShock)

🤣🤣🤣
Gingernaut · 27/12/2021 16:56

So many of the brands the card us for are now closed down or online only.

I ended up spending a £30 in Boots.

MrsBerthaRochester · 27/12/2021 16:58

My mum kept buying these for my kids at xmas and they are crap! Limited to what shops you can use and a couple of places I had to argue with them to accept them. The only one who used all of his was ds1 as he loves tkmaxx.
This year she just sent cash.

chocolatetrap · 27/12/2021 17:00

Thank you. I feel seen! I got 100 quid voucher from this company from work and was immediately put off by the cheap gaudy website but ok. Unnecessarily complex activation process. Okay.
Tried to buy something at Argos for £109 and realised small print says that you need to spend the exact amount or less. What? Ridiculous.

Found this thread and checked Trustpilot reviews as per PPs here and wow. This is borderline scam.

I will try to buy an actual shop gift card with this later as per suggestions and see what happens.

Other than that I’ll be feeding back to my company that they bought an absolute dud.

Saucery · 27/12/2021 17:10

I always feel bad when people buy me these, because they’ve spent their money trying to give me a range of shops to buy from and they never work because it’s bordering on a scam Angry

onemouseplace · 27/12/2021 17:18

@MsEmmeline - no they didn't. They didn't send me an email straightaway, so I printed them off and I'm glad I did now as I can't find the page on the website that has them now for love nor money.

Such an awful website!

H1978 · 27/12/2021 17:29

I agree. I gave a giftcard to my mum and dad and she wasn’t able to pay on top for something she wanted. It was 50p over. My dad tried in a couple of shops and it just wouldn’t swipe. Useless!

I always do the same as well, then struggle to use them myself in shops or online. I hate them, they're a swizz.
Loopzy · 27/12/2021 17:32

Thanks for posting this. I've just managed to convert a £25 Gift Card into a £18.70 John Lewis Gift Card, the other £25 is now worth £0.00 Confused

MsEmmeline · 27/12/2021 17:36

That's great news Loopsy - make sure you print out or save the voucher immediately, rather than waiting for an email.

Authenticcelestialmusic · 27/12/2021 17:38

They are shite. I bought them off the kids and used them for petrol. Use the week received, set the fuel amount at the value in the card, (best to go to a station which allows you to set the file amount, fill to £25.00 (for example) on the nose and pay in store. Last one I used at Sainsbury’s (a few years ago luckily).

bantuknots73 · 27/12/2021 17:43

@MsEmmeline

🤣 *@bantuknots73*
I honestly think they're great😂 it's annoying that you can't do partial payments online and maybe because I live in Zone 1 London it's easy to get around to shops. I got two £250 giftcards at my last baby shower so now that's all I want for my next one in a couple of months😂 saves people buying shite gifts that you hate!
Loopzy · 27/12/2021 17:44

Thanks! I had been waiting for an email, but saved it to G Pay just in case.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/12/2021 17:46

Has anyone tried to use them on the Spa Seekers website? I know MN hates spa days but my mum loves them and I got one from work as a Christmas bonus, wanted to treat her for her birthday as there's nothing I want!
