I can't do trifle with sponge in for this reason! Even thinking about it now is making me a bit nauseous! 🤢

Ooh *@DrCoconut* I wouldn't bother within the gluten gap free one, I could only get GF last year from M&S and it was all kinds of horrible. Maybe make your own. With GF bread?

Homemade with GF bread or totally fine. All the standar problems of GF bread don’t matter in a sauce.

Agreed. I don't like the texture of bread in summer puddings and don't like soggy food in general. If I eat baked beans on toast I have to put the beans next to the toast rather than on it because I don't like the bread going soggy. But bread sauce doesn't have a texture like that. It's more like porridge texture.

I have bread sauce all year round with roast chicken - it's flippin' delicious and wouldn't do a Christmas roast without it.

This is one of the things from my childhood Christmas I have gladly left behind.

I have never had bread sauce.

Bread sauce is revolting - can't stand the texture. Best parts of a Christmas dinner for me are 1. Turkey 2. Pigs in blankets 3. Roast potatoes 4. Petit pois 5. Carrots 6. Gravy 7. Cranberry sauce. Pretty much in that order! 🎄🎅🏻🍽

God, you’ve just reminded me of Xmas dinner in the 70’s where DM would slave over her gelatinous bread sauce, put me off for life.

I just had to Google bread sauce because I don't think I've ever had it! Looking at the ingredients I don't think I'd enjoy it tbh (because I don't like bread much so it's probably not made for my sort ) but I can see why people would like it.

Bread sauce is gorgeous but it has to be the real thing, homemade and all that jazz.
None of that crap packet bread sauce mix - urghhhh!
