Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

Dogs aren’t the problem. Bad owners are.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 17/11/2021 20:43

Poor dogs!

vampirethriller · 17/11/2021 20:45

I've had enough of badly trained over excited dogs (frenchies usually, where I live) and of poo everywhere, and I've got a dog.

Fomofo · 17/11/2021 20:45

Yeah many dogs are annoying, but I don't think its a very popular opinion!

NotExactlyOptimistic · 17/11/2021 20:45

I can't stand them either to be honest although the ones with responsible owners who are kept in control are just about tolerable. We're in the minority though and when I say I don't like dogs people look at me like I've just killed someone. Personally I don't know why people have them they're such a fucking nuisance in so many different ways.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 17/11/2021 20:45

It is a bit obvious but the people are the issue, not dogs.

Our dog doesn't do any of those things, because we take care of him nd don't foist him on other people.

authenticforgery · 17/11/2021 20:45

Yanbu
I do actually have a dog but I don't let her get away with the absolute shenanigans other owners do with their dogs. It embarrasses me to be lumped in with other dog owners.
I'm sick of excessive barking, dog shit everywhere, dogs being allowed to come over to my dog, dogs being allowed to approach my kids, etc. Standards have dropped to rock bottom.

Dogdogdogdoneit · 17/11/2021 20:47

Yep, also fed up with the number of bad dog owners who seem to think it’s acceptable for dogs to jump up / hassle people. IT IS NOT OK!
Don’t get me started on the poo

That's all fair enough - I can't stand cats but it's not actually the cats as the entitled owners - so I don't actually blame the cats.

I get it that not everyone likes dogs - ours is never in public off lead and we keep him well away from anyone else unless invited.

Bingbong21 · 17/11/2021 20:47

Bad owners are rife post lockdown.

My 6 mo pup jumped on a jogger a few weeks back, was mortified so went back on the lead to rebuild to being off. If I see a jogger coming he goes straight back on and I make sure to pick routes I know I would see a jogger with plenty of time. Will gradually start long lining him with joggers to train him reliably.

Point is that yes these things do sometimes happen but as a responsible owner it should never be allowed to happen again.

userxx · 17/11/2021 20:49

I love dogs and would happily let someone put a bag of dogshit in my bin, better then leaving it on the pavement.

TotallySuper · 17/11/2021 20:49

YANBU at all. Never found yet a responsible dog owner who keeps it on a lead, has it well trained and doesn't do the breezy "oh he's harmless" whilst their 20kg pitbull looking bulldog thing has knocked my daughter to the ground. Absolutely ridiculous. The dangerous dogs list needs expanding that's for sure.

DarlingFell · 17/11/2021 20:50

Oh look, the weekly dog haters thread has appeared.

YABU

Dogs absolutely rock. Mine are utterly awesome.

aprilshowers2015 · 17/11/2021 20:50

I'm a dog owner and most of what you said pisses me off too.
I call my dog back if someone approaches, I put her on a lead if I feel she might get too excited. I worked for months (still going!) to train her. I pick up Every. Single. Shit that she does, I can count on one hand the number of times I've taken her to a cafe that isn't advertised as a dog cafe.
It's the owners, stupid irresponsible owners. Yesterday I pushed my pram through a pile of shit in the play park and had to deal with the aftermath of a huge lab bounding over to us barking, my small spaniel went into panic and protect mode. Obviously the owner did nothing.

BuckyBarnesArm · 17/11/2021 20:50

It won't rile "entitled" dog owners but it might rile responsible dog owners who see a ranty, goady post making hyperbolic sweeping statements to provoke an argument response

alborana · 17/11/2021 20:50

They're not dogs OP, they're 'fur babies'. I love dogs, but I'm less keen on many dog owners and how they infantilise intelligent animals.

Nyxly · 17/11/2021 20:52

How big were these 6 dogs that you had to 'clamber' over?

You sure they weren't horses?

Sexnotgender · 17/11/2021 20:52

As the owner of a very nervous previously abused dog I agree it’s bad owners that are the issue. If one more snappy little shite harasses my on lead at all times boy I’ll send the little furry fucker into orbit.

Feelingofftoday · 17/11/2021 20:52

I'm with you OP

One breezed past me in John Lewis today, far too close for my liking.

Why can't shops understand many people dislike and are allergic to dogs?

And if I hear someone use the term fur baby I will kill them.

People take dogs in JL?

Do you mean like a guide dog?

Exactly! I see people like OP and a few others as the kind of people I am glad not to know in real life.

I'd argue as a responsible dog owner that a 6m old pup should never have been off lead and had the opportunity to jump on a jogger in the first place!
MrsCremuel · 17/11/2021 20:56

I’m so with you on this. Sick of dogs bearing down on my toddler whilst on the beach and their owners others cries of ‘oh he’s just being friendly’ as it proceeds to jump all over us. Sick of dreading in dog shot, listening to my neighbours dog bark incessantly.

I’ve never understand why people like the me - they smell, are loud, are a nuisance, potentially dangerous and expensive. But I’m the odd one apparently .
