Are you an entitled dickhead

Lol excuse the title but here goes... I work in a super market And I truly love the chat with all our loveky customers but one thing that makes me wanna stab people in the eye with a steak knife is when people literally hand you a big stinking, smelly bag and expect you to pack! Why the hell do people do this? Bring your own bag and pack it yourself. I'm not talking about elderly, disabled or parents with young kids that need a hand, I'm talking people in their 20s / 30s that are incapable of doing this basic task! We even have bags beside the till and many, many times people will ask "can I take a bag" then literally hand it to me to pack it whilst they dick about having a laugh with their mates. My absolute favourite is when full families come in with teenagers and insist on watching you pack, or worse start telling you how they want it packed into specific categories 🤬 whilst discussing the plans for the day 🤬🤬🤬🤬

If you're one of these people! Wake up

It boggles my mind to think that this actually goes on.

FOJN · 05/11/2021 21:33

Phew, I opened the thread wth trepidation wondering if I was about to find out I'm an entitled dickhead, I'm not.Grin

It really irritates me when I see people do it so I have some sympathy for you, it's just rude.

Damnyoureyes · 05/11/2021 21:34

Are you in the U.K.???

SarahAndQuack · 05/11/2021 21:34

People tell you how to pack?! Wow.

If it's any comfort, if I'm shopping and someone is doing this ahead of me in the queue, I seethe too. It's such a waste of time.

Obviously totally different if someone genuinely needs help packing, but I think some people just have no manners. Same with people who will chat on the phone all the time they're at the till, expecting the poor person serving them to wait for a pause in the conversation to tell them the total or to pay.

Nyxs · 05/11/2021 21:37

I can't believe people even do this!

That's really shocking.

Tee20x · 05/11/2021 21:38

@onedaytwodayyay I used to work in a supermarket and would actually cry inside when people would bring out a nasty tattered fabric bag stinking of smoke or piss and want you to pack for them.

Bleh.

MrsFoxyplease · 05/11/2021 21:39

I'm not an entitled dickhead in this instance.

onedaytwodayyay · 05/11/2021 21:43

Yip, takes all sorts of people! It's the fusty, crusty and weather beaten bag they pull out that should have been dumped 5 years ago 🤣

I had a woman who had a pair of knickers fall out of her bag. That was memorable 🤣🤣🤣

I worked in Primark for a number of years.

It (and the things people used to leave in fitting rooms… almost always the women’s)… really opened my eyes to the disgustingness of the general public.

🤮🤮🤮

I hate it when not only the bag is smelly but they then get ridiculously arsey about how you pack it . When they start screaming be careful with my cake/ crisps/bread etc I could rip their heads off

Yeah, I've been known to crush their packets of biscuits when they get on like arseholes .... Shame on me 😇😆

I couldn't deal with the public every day.

Bathshebahardy · 05/11/2021 21:52

It's years since I've seen a shop assistant packing for a customer. I didn't know it ever happened.

SnowWhitesSM · 05/11/2021 21:52

YABU - I specifically go to sainsburys as they pack your bags for you. I like having my bag packed for me, thats why I go there and not tescos.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 05/11/2021 21:53

Phew - not me, I hate having help with packing - I have my system and don't want it interfered with 😂

Does this happen a lot OP? I'm quite gobsmacked.

Yes, I’ve worked on checkouts, how do you even get a bag to smell like that. And why ask the cashier to pack when you’re just standing there?? It slows the whole process down, it’s not even convenient.
A woman handed me a bag once, a really old fabric one, and a massive spider crawled out. Which she thought was hilarious Confused

bigred22 · 05/11/2021 21:55

I can't believe people still get their bags packed for them! (Aldi shopper here though, I'm lucky if I can get my bags open in time to throw my own stuff in!)

MarigoldMoonStone · 05/11/2021 21:55

Actually shocked people do this. Your annoyance is totally justified.

But why don't you do it yourself? Not being rude (I promise) just intrigued to understand why? Of course it's a different story if you arent able to or if you have lots of items and the assistant is helping you but if you stand and watch, I think it's bizarre
