DH was born in 1976. He claims to have not taken a lunchbox in school but used Tupperware. Apparently “no one had lunchboxes”. I was born in 1985 and definitely did have a lunchbox (square plastic with a handle and my little pony”.

So…if you were born in the 70s/early 80s did you have a lunchbox?

I was born in 1972 and we had tupperware type lunch boxes and proper flasks. I started seeing the boxes with handles in the early 80s.

CSJobseeker · 14/10/2021 21:47

Yes, I think mine might have been My Little Pony too.

Barwell76 · 14/10/2021 21:49

I was born in 72 and just had a tupperware box for my lunch.

DayPyjamas · 14/10/2021 21:49

Yes mine was the power rangers 😖. I managed to rip the sticker off and drew a snoopy myself.

CSJobseeker · 14/10/2021 21:49

(Mine was 80s btw)

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 14/10/2021 21:50

My first lunch box was pink plastic with a handle and My Little Pony on. Must have been 1989.

TheSpottedZebra · 14/10/2021 21:50

Yes a Smurfs lunchbox and a matching flask that always had the faint tang of chicken soup.

jendifer · 14/10/2021 21:51

Ah. Maybe he is a little too old then. Who knew?!

This must have been 90s, surely? I don't recall Power Rangers being around in the 80s.

I was born in 1985 and I loved all those lunchboxes we had then....with the chunky flask that always leaked over your lunch

LightDrizzle · 14/10/2021 21:53

Born 1970. Most people had Tupperware. I was a spoilt bastard and had a Navy “patent leather” (plastic) zip-up thing with a handle for my Penguin biscuit and jam or Shipham’s Paste sandwich.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 14/10/2021 21:53

'Roughnecks' flasks were popular for cold drinks. People had lunchboxes. Some people had old clean ice cream or margarine tubs.

I was at middle school and secondary school in 1970's and 1980's.

I didn't have a Tupperware tub. I cba. I think it just went into a carrier bag in my school bag. I had a Thermos flask with tea or sometimes soup in it.

Jenniferturkington · 14/10/2021 21:53

Born in early 80s. I had a pink plastic teddy bear lunchbox that I was very pleased with. Everyone had those flasks with the mug lids.

Hockeyboysmum · 14/10/2021 21:53

Born 1981 and yep had my little pony lunchbox

Obsidiansphere · 14/10/2021 21:53

Late 70’s and my lunch box was an old ice cream container Grin

RockinHorseShit · 14/10/2021 21:53

As above we had Tupperware boxes & flasks in the 70s.

I remember a cousin having a panda lunchbox in the early 80s though

Xmasbaby11 · 14/10/2021 21:53

I was born in 76 and had a Muppet Show lunch box and matching flask.

SallyOMalley · 14/10/2021 21:54

I was born in 1970 and had a snoopy lunchbox with a matching flask. Must have been about 9, I reckon. They were definitely a thing!

careerchangeperhaps · 14/10/2021 21:55

I started school in 1984 and almost everyone had a square plastic lunchbox with a handle and a matching flask inside. The girls had My Little Pony, Holly Hobbie or Care Bears and the boys had Mask, He-Man or Transformers.

Clevs · 14/10/2021 21:55

I was born in 1978 and had one. Square (ish) with a handle and two clips to keep it shut. I can't remember what was on it but think it was red.

Treats · 14/10/2021 21:55

1977 here. Also a Muppet show lunchbox with matching flask.

emsyj37 · 14/10/2021 21:55

I was born in 1979 and I had one of those lunch boxes with a handle and a matching flask. It was yellow with some sort of characters on, but I can't remember what characters Sad. Possibly animals? An elephant?? I can still smell the plastic smell of the flask mixed with orange squash!

Same here, must have been a thing to have in the late 70s!
Gherkingreen · 14/10/2021 21:56

Born mid 70s, I had plain Tupperware or used a plastic tub, I don't remember anyone having branded stuff at primary school. If they did, I would've been very envious!
