HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

Sorry, nothing useful here but bloody loved this thread!

Sexnotgender · 07/10/2021 12:21

Ahahaha😂 sorry!

Is there definitely no switch? Have you tried lifting the insole and seeing if it’s underneath?

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 07/10/2021 12:21

Sometimes there is a little press switch in the tongue or the side of the shoe. Good luck

🤣🤣🤣

ziggyf · 07/10/2021 12:23

If they are Clarks, they usually have a switch on the side of the sole. It's quite well hidden!

DiscontentedWoman · 07/10/2021 12:23

Made my day Grin

purplesequins · 07/10/2021 12:23

the lights will come in handy for the dark season Grin

10 seconds in the microwave?

I would probably not risk it, the shoes might explode.

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 07/10/2021 12:24

Fabulous thread title, OP!

Checked the tongue and shone a torch inside can’t find a thing. Seriously who would manufacture them this way? What if I want to go to the cinema? Spontaneously. I’d have to put my shoes in my bag.

I came here thinking that you meant "I can't stop thinking about my shoes" or "I can still feel my shoes when I take them off"

But this is much better

I can't help though

zen1 · 07/10/2021 12:25

Do you have a pic OP? They sound like fun!

Tonkerbea · 07/10/2021 12:27

Hahaha. Run around in them until the battery dies?

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 12:29

I don’t think buildings and contents will replace my kitchen if I microwave my shoes?

My daughter has had flashing shoes twice - once with the off switch located inside the shoe under the insole (iirc there was a teeny tab to lift the insole) and the other that switched on and off if you stamp really hard.

Soubriquet · 07/10/2021 12:31

Try the strap of the shoe (if there is one.) or the back heel of the shoe. That usually has an off/on button on it

Soubriquet · 07/10/2021 12:31

Btw, welcome back HoneyDragon. This is such a you post too Grin

trilbydoll · 07/10/2021 12:31

Get them wet? In my experience it doesn't completely kill the light up feature but makes it develop an intermittent fault which might be sufficient for people to think they must have been mistaken in imagining your shoes light up.

ABitOfAShitShow · 07/10/2021 12:31

😂 Oh, OP. Nothing to add but this thread is hilarious.

scully29 · 07/10/2021 12:32

Brilliant! Can you stick stickers over them? Or just own it and enjoy the disco effect, maybe its a sign you should be spending more time raving?

Puffalicious · 07/10/2021 12:34

Bloody fabulous! I can only suggest the tongue like other PP- sometimes it's further down nearer the middle of the foot.

ThatsNotMyReindeer · 07/10/2021 12:36

Just own it! 🤷‍♀️

StormTreader · 07/10/2021 12:36

I assume theres a way to replace the battery? you need to google for that and then just take it out

PainterInPeril · 07/10/2021 12:36

GrinI'm pretty sure the lights wear out anyway after a while so make the most of them now! Splash in puddles💦. Run through fallen leaves🍁🍂. Have fun! In all fairness though, this is coming from someone who can't adult at all! Apparently! BlushGrin 🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️

Toddlerteaplease · 07/10/2021 12:37

Omg I'm
So jealous! I'm 40 next week and would love a pair of light up shoes. I'm also very envious of the kids sketchers!

Hermanfromguesswho · 07/10/2021 12:37

You’ll just have to run the battery down. Put them on and run around your house until you can’t go any further. Then put the shoes on your hands snd use them as drums until the lights die?
