HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

Is it these ones OP?

CarrieMoonbeams · 07/10/2021 12:59

Ah, I see it wasn't. What a shame!

TheOrigRights · 07/10/2021 12:59

Put them in the washing machine?

@HoneyDragon

Thank you for the warm welcomed back. I couldn’t think of anywhere Alderm that would A) understand B) possibly have a solution

I’m keeping the lights on account early morning dog walks will be awesome, but I do work in a preschool and if I wear these flashing I will cause a riot. Albeit a two foot high one.

Wear them to preschool. The children's parents will be hearing for the next 6 months about how miss Honeydragon is the coolest teacher ever. Putting them in the washing machine will stop the lights going. But would it not be better to start a campaign making light up shoes socially acceptable for grown ups?
Cantgetausername87 · 07/10/2021 13:01

I think embrace the light up shoe. #trendsetter

Theunamedcat · 07/10/2021 13:02

@ColdColdWinter

Do they come in adult size 7?

Asking for myself a friend.

Look on the website very similar pair thirty quid goes up to size 8
Theunamedcat · 07/10/2021 13:03

I've even looked on there website zero information on how to shut them off 🤣

BendingSpoons · 07/10/2021 13:04

I have (possibly) bad news. DS has light up trainers from Next with no off button and they have lasted pretty well! I agree with a PP though, definitely wear them to work!

idontlikealdi · 07/10/2021 13:05

😂😂😂

With the kids Skechers ones you have to stamp really hard on the heel to turn them on and off?

LemonySippet · 07/10/2021 13:08

They are exceedingly cool OP. You are lucky to have small enough feet to escape VAT and enjoy child-sized shoes! I love them. #unhelpful

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 07/10/2021 13:08

Try pulling up the insole. There might be a batter pack in there?

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 13:09

Ok new plan. You guys all buy some and by Xmas no one will care as we’ll all be wearing them.

I have only one thing to say…(photo attached)

HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.
TheABC · 07/10/2021 13:11

Put stickers over them for when you need to hide the flash. Preferably unicorn heads (it seems to be compulsory for 5-year-old girls). Job done.

I am off to buy some, now. As I already use a scooter on a school run, no one will bat an eyelid.

itsasmallworldafterall · 07/10/2021 13:12

Once through the machine and tumble dryer will sort that out, could have been worse, I remember kids shoes that squeaked when you walked!

neededafart · 07/10/2021 13:12

Oh op this is brilliant. Please keep the flashing !

sashh · 07/10/2021 13:12

Don't the flashing bits actually come out? I know a friend's children had some and they had to take the flash out for school.

Can you throw them in the washing machine?

EmotionalSupportBear · 07/10/2021 13:12

ah... just own it and enjoy the flash.

I own some Irregular Choice trainers which flash, and i bloody love them xD (i'm 40 btw)

I wonder if this thread will go like the one on butter dishes that prompted a run on TKMaxx for Le Creuset.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/10/2021 13:14

Now I know what I want for Christmas.

Bounce55 · 07/10/2021 13:15

I want a pair 🤣
Who cares what they look like?
I've got a pair of kids siders (size 4 trotters) the bit over the foot is in the shape of a 'box of fries' and there's material 'fries' coming out from the top. I love them, and it always make people smile when they see them

Bounce55 · 07/10/2021 13:15

*sliders as well!

AndTime · 07/10/2021 13:15

I think they are great, seriously considering grabbing a pair myself.

B0G0F · 07/10/2021 13:15

Own up, who hasn't done a search on adult flashing shoes?
