HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

*apart from grow up and return them.

Boring suggestion: tweet Next and ask them?

SalemWitchCraft · 07/10/2021 14:25

@HoneyDragon

Ok new plan. You guys all buy some and by Xmas no one will care as we’ll all be wearing them.
We'll be able to spot MN user from a mile away 😂

Two foot riot is my favourite concept so far this year.

lifecoachingandotherbollocks · 07/10/2021 14:28

Morgantowers · 07/10/2021 14:30

I think there will be a hidden button near the flash of light.

HoneyDragon · 07/10/2021 14:30

Blurp…. I’ve dm’d then just now.

@godmum56 do you have a pair? I love them but reviews aren't great

ladymuck111 · 07/10/2021 14:31

This thread has made me smile. I'm feeling pretty grim today. I'm sorry for your light up trainers issue but Thankyou for this thread 😂

Crabapple04 · 07/10/2021 14:32

I love this thread and now I've checked out next.co.uk and see these come in big sizes too. I really can get them and join your merry exclusive band👏👏👏👏😁😂🤣

sashh · 07/10/2021 14:33

OP

Looking at the pic online there is a circular bit on the sole - is that some type of switch?

Mandatorymongoose · 07/10/2021 14:34

Just own it.

I have two pairs of light up shoes. Trainers (with dinosaurs on)and some heels where the whole front of the shoe lights up in a multitude of colours and patterns. The heels have a USB port to charge them. I did wonder if charging my shoes was a bit much but no. Shiny.

HereticFanjo · 07/10/2021 14:38

I'm jealous of the frog swimming bag!

TheFoundations · 07/10/2021 14:40

I think I love you, OP

SamMil · 07/10/2021 14:41

I think you might just have to embrace the flashing?

Seesawmummadaw · 07/10/2021 14:45

You need to run absolutely everywhere (really really fast) until the battery runs out. Making loud aeroplane noises helps too.

Welcome back!

Seesawmummadaw · 07/10/2021 14:45

Dancing helps also

WeirdCatLady · 07/10/2021 14:47

I asked dd (20) whether I should get a plain black swim bag or a pink frog. Pink frog won hands down. Dh looked at us like we were mad 😂

Got to have a bit of whimsy in life 😍

takenforgrantednana · 07/10/2021 14:49

take some black insulating tape with you and cover up the lights, in the mean time spend all your waking time tapping the heel on the floor to wear the batteries out

Never had light up trainers when I was a kid (am 53 yrs young). This thread inspired me to go Google some and I am now the proud owner of these amazingly awesome yet tacky trainers. They'll go fab with my Chrimble jumper!

Brazen it out - say they're for dog walking in the dark.

LemonadePockets · 07/10/2021 14:57

Just rock them! And watch everyone wish they had light up shoes too 🙌🏻
