HELP! I am (apparently) a grown adult 42 woman, but I can’t turn my shoes off.

I have purchased some very charming, exceedingly comfortable trainers from Next in the sale.

On hindsight these may have been from the children’s section. The clue is in the soles which flash brighter than the sun. Which is rather fun. But didn’t become apparent until the tags were off and they were upon my feet.

There is NO SWITCH! Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Do they not come with one? What if I need to speak to the Bank Manager, or other actual adults. Someone please tell me the off switch if hidden in a hitherto undiscovered location.

I’m not giving these bad boys up. They’re super comfy and cool. All solutions welcome*

They do indeed - in fact up to size 10 / EU 44 for those of us that are large of feet.

There's going to be a supply chain shortage and the army are going to have to be called in to deliver flashing shoes to us all!

I got myself some light up shoes! My kids have them and wore them to Laser tag and they were said that I had an advantage because they had more lights on. Their solution was that I had to also have light up shoes. So I got some.
I quite happily wear them to all things. But I work alone, in my house, so not many people really see them. I have had a few comments at the school gates though!

The switch will probably be inside the lining of the shoe so you can't see it but you'll probably be able to feel it. A bit like those singing teddy bears with the switch in the paw.

I would also love flashing trainers!!

But to make them stop you could try putting them in the freezer for 24/48 hours. I believe it works with annoying kids toys with batteries that can't be replaced or taken out, and would be less damaging than getting them wet.

Just keep stamping your feet and wear the battery down. Or get them wet but I would recommend that as may ruin them 😅

If you'd feel you really need to be boring grown up , dark blue or black electrical tape should to cover the lights should do the trick .

If you want to kill the flashing permanently you could put them in a bucket of water.

They are definitely a sealed unit. In fact having scoured every inch I think they’ll be pretty watertight too.

I would just go for it! Life is too short to worry about something as fabulous as this!

Oh and just wear them, they;re not just for kids. I love wearing mine.
